Raina shrugged "Mostly when I'm in planes." she admitted. "Being underwater is a lot like what I'd expect flying to be like." she added. "Feeling light and weightless, like you could drift anywhere you wanted to." She grinned but instantly pulled her hands to her ears as the plane began to climb. "oh..." she grumbled. "my ears are popping." the usual tricks didn't work for Raina like they'd work for most people. Her body had built up a bit of a tolerence since being in the ocean so much put pressure on her ears. She couldn't exactly chew gum down there and swalloing was a little different with gills.

She made a face and tried to yawn and as the plane evened out she knew it would be a while before she could hear properly. The seatbelt light flicked off and Raina looked around the cabin. "First class..." she said stretching her legs out as far as they would go. "No crazy kids." she liked kids, just not kids who could speak a bunch of languages except the one that told them to stop biting and pinching.

A male flight attendant wandered toward them to ask if they were hungry or interested in a drink and let them know that the inflight movie would start soon- Stardust. Raina was extactic as it was one of her favourite books. "You'll like it Luke." she said. "There's narration." she teased stroaking his hair.

She leaned back prepared to watch the movie and wondered how quickly she could make 7 hours go by. Not quickly enough as far as she was concerned.

Luke reclined his seat slightly as the plane made its ascent into the skies. Settling in as comfortably as possible, he mimicked the motion of chewing gum until the pressure in his ears was relieved.

"You'll like it Luke." Raina said in a teasing tone after the flight attendant had told them about the upcoming move, "There's narration."

Closing his eyes, Luke smiled as he felt his girlfriend's soft hand stroking through his hair. "Keep doing that and I won't see any of it... you're gonna put me to sleep."

Her touch was so relaxing and at the moment all Luke wanted to do was revel in the feeling. Perhaps before the trip was finished he would have a chance to feel her touch in a more intimate way but for the moment he would enjoy any amount of affection she wished to show. Her light, gentle touch was intoxicating and Luke knew that it wouldn't take long for him to get addicted to the feeling.

"What about you?" Luke asked, as he shifted slightly, trying to find a more comfortable position in his chair, "Gonna watch the movie or nap?"

"I think I'll watch the movie." answered Raina running her fingers through his hair rythmicly. It relaxed her to do this just as much as it was relaxing him. "I'm a bigger fan of the book, movies never do them justice." she smiled. "But I like it, it'll shave 2 hours off the flight... then I can sleep for the other 5!" she giggled.

Raina sat quietly as the lights dimmed a bit and popped in her ear phones. She watched as the story of Stardust unfolded. She loved it because it was a fairy tale that bridged on reality. The story of a young man trying to win a woman's affections and falling for the very thing he set out to find. Of course the book was more adult oriented and much more maccabre than the movie but she did enjoy the cross dressing sky pirate! Who wouldn't?

As the end of the movie drew on she realized she had at some point reached down for Luke's hand... likely during the scene where Tristan- the main character- left Evayne- the fallen star he'd fallen in love with- and Evayne thought he'd left for good. She left her hand there and felt her eyes grow heavy with sleep but also with tears. She closed them urging the liquid not to seep through. This part was always sad and tugged at her heart strings... but closing her eyes was so comfortable she kept them that way and listened to the end of the movie and the end credits as she nodded off.

Her head bobbed against Luke's shoulder just like she joked that it would. Her stomach was finally settled though her ears were still a little blocked. She started to dream of fallen stars and not so distant worlds.
