The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Things were finally settling down since the Order had invaded the mansion. He stuck around the mansion until everything was cleaned up. Streak went over the security videos for hours on end. Replaying things over and over again until he knew what was what had happened by heart. He couldn't get over the fact that they had arrived so soon and caught the X-Men by surprised. Things needed to be fixed and updated. And he needed to do it as fast as possible. Streak had done some research about security companies that did work for big businesses and even some private houses. Some high rollers. Of all the companies he looked at one stood out. Jacobs and Jacobs company. They had a picture of the owner on the website. He looked really familiar , in fact Shawn knew him as the guy that was part of the X-Men team and had been at the birthday party.
That was the company he was going to go for. Why risk getting information about an insubstantial amount of security at a school full of mutants when their happened to be a security company run and owned by a mutant who coincidentally was part of the X-Men. Shawn walked up to the building. It was very large, upscale, and expensive building. Something where he might have to give a credit check just to get into the building. He walked through the doors and immediately felt under dressed to be in a building like this. Wearing pants a tshirt and a leather jacket, where everyone else was wearing suits he looked around and returned some of the stares he was drawing. He walked up to the receptionist at the desk in the round help desk in the center of the lobby. Streak wasn't going to be discouraged by what was going on in there. Especially when the safety of his home was was on the line.
Walking up to the receptionist he waited for her to finish with whoever was on the phone. Once she set the receiver down she looked up at him. "Is Luke Jacobs here?" Streak asked her without missing a beat or waiting for an invitation. "If you want to see Mr. Jacobs you need to have a better appearance than that. We don't just let anyone in this building and we certainly don't let just anyone see the owner. Now if you'll excuse me we have more important things to do." She said rather rudely. Shawn was surprised. He hadn't expected someone to treat him that way no matter how he looked or how young he was. "Just tell Luke that Streak is here and needs to talk to him. Or I can just go from floor to floor looking for him. Which sounds better for you? I'll be over there if you need me." He responded. That was something else he was going to talk to Luke about besides the security systems. Streak headed over to an open chair. As he was walking over there he looked around making sure to look at the cameras so that they got a good picture of his face. He didn't know if Luke saw the security cameras but if he was watching them hopefully he would recognize his face.

Luke had spent most of his morning going through paperwork and taking care of the activities that he really didn't want to do. This was the part of his job that he absolutely hated, but it was also part that was necessary to keep things going. As he ran his fingers over one of the papers his phone began to ring.
"Luke Jacobs." He answered somewhat distractedly as he picked up the phone and held it to his ear with his left hand, while his right hand continued to move over the papers.
"I'm sorry to bother you Mr. Jacobs... there's a rather scruffy looking man here who says he knows you. He refuses to leave without seeing you! Should I call security?"
"Did he give you a name?" Luke asked, his hand falling still as he suddenly focused all of his attention on the call.
"I believe he said his name is Streak... what kind of parents would give a name like that to their children?"
"Maggie, contrary to what Uncle Oliver tells you we cater to all clientelle... not just the well dressed one. Apologize for your behavior and tell him I'll be right down." Luke replied sternly before hanging up the phone.
Standing up Luke grabbed his cane from where it was propped up against his desk and moved toward the door. As was his custom he was dressed rather casually, in black sneakers, dark blue jeans, and a white button-up shirt that was tucked in to his pants. The top three buttons of his shirt were open, revealing the black shirt he wore underneath. Making his way smoothly down the hall the blind man moved into the elevator and began to ride down to the lobby.
"So Streak's here..." Luke murmured to himself as he reached up and adjusted his sunglasses to fit a little more comfortably on the bridge of his nose, "I wonder what's up."
Seconds later Luke stepped out of the elevator and after a quick sonar scan of the lobby focused in on Streak and began to walk over to him. "Streak! This is quite a surprise. How're you doing?"

Streak didn't wait in the lobby to soon before the receptionist came up to him and apologized for her behavior. "I'm so sorry Mr. Streak. Mr. Jacobs will be right down with you. I'm so so sorry for my behavior." She continued to say. "Don't worry about it. Happens all the time." Streak said dismissing her apology easily. He didn't really believe that she had come to the apology on her own so he took it with a grain of salt. Once she left he continued to wait. Shawn picked up a section of the New York Times that was lying on the table next to him. He began skimming through the articles on the page to see if anything caught his interest. Either nationally or world wide that had to do with any mutants or decision concerning mutants.
Finally he heard the elevator dinged and he looked up from his uninteresting paper. It was Luke who stepped out of the elevator. Streak set down the paper, stood up and walked over to greet Luke. "Hey Luke. I'd be better if I wasn't here. Can we talk somewhere a little more private. It's about my home. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't important." Streak said giving him a wink. He knew Luke was using his powers, although he wasn't sure if he could see people winking or not. Since this was not his place he didn't want to seem impulsive by leading the way to the elevators.

Streak's home?
"I thought he lived at the mansion but.... oh... he means the mansion." Luke's mind made the connection relatively quickly and he nodded as he turned and motioned toward the elevator.
"Well whatever the reason, I'm glad you stopped by. I don't get to see enough of you and the rest of your family." Luke replied with a slight grin as the pair walked toward the elevators, "We can go right up to my office of course. I'm sure you have plenty of stories about the antics of the family. Has Steel been staying out of trouble?"
The best cover was to keep things as natural as possible but as soon as the elevator doors closed and the car began to move, Luke's expression turned serious and he focused his eyes toward Streak. "Since you came to see me at work I'm going to assume this is about security. Did the situation on Raina's birthday prompt this?"

Streak smiled. He was glad that Luke was taking his hint and running with it. It worked out quite well as he followed Luke to the elevator. "Ya, the family keeps me busy ya know? Ha. Well you know Steel, you can't turn your back on him for a second. Otherwise he's off doin' his own thing." He said continuing their charade. Once they stepped into the elevator and the doors closed Luke dropped all pretense and Streak wasn't to far behind him.
"Ya Raina's party prompted this. I've been looking over those tapes a thousand times and the general consensus that I noticed was that our security system is a little out dated and also a little slow to pick up actions and set the alarm. We need something more up to date and lets us know ahead of time." He paused for a moment as he looked at the elevator that indicated what floor they were going to. His office was high up and it took a while. Before the elevator stopped he said,"I'll tell you more when when we're in your office." The elevator slowly came to a stop and he waited for the doors to open again to let them out.

As the doors slid open, Luke led the way down the hall toward his office. He figured it wouldn't take Streak long to notice that they weren't on the 21st floor at the top of the building where the executive officer had their offices. Instead they were on the 10th floor, walking toward one of the much more standard looks offices that befitted a lower member of the staff.
Luke's office was a small, functional room. A desk took up most of the room with a voice command computer that attached to both a braille and a regular ink jet printer. Two chair were just this side of the desk where anyone visiting would sit but instead of being the normal, straight backed chairs that most people kept in their office because of their low cost, Luke had both of his 'visitor' chairs as the exact same type of executive chair that was on his side of the desk.
On the pair had entered the office Luke closed the door for privacy and waved his hand toward one of the two 'visitor' chairs that were in the office.
"Please... have a seat Streak." He said quiet as he walked around the desk, leaned his cane up against it and then took his own seat, "So give me some details... what kind of situation did we have at the mansion and what are you thinking about doing to fix the problem?"

Streak looked around at the offices as they passed them. He thought it was very odd that they weren't on the top floor, but rather in the middle of the building. Since his problem was the main thing of on his mind he didn't press the matter, at least not yet. Once in Luke's office he noticed that the chairs were much different than the ones in other offices. "Nice place." Streak said a little nonchalantly. Luke didn't wast any time getting to the point.
Sitting down, Streak began to answer Luke's question. "Well it was pretty obvious. I didn't know anything about what was going on until that robot had already demolished the gates. So I didn't learn about it before and I wasn't able to prepare or get us ready for the ensuing battle. In fact I was still getting information sent to me while we were charging into battle. The long and the short of it is that ever since the mansion was destroyed in the raid to throw us into registration camps the security hasn't been upgraded. I didn't know how many people we were up against. I didn't know they were getting reinforcements until they were already in the battle. We went into the that battle with basically no information. We all went in there blind in one way or another. No offense. Frankly we all could have been killed because for all we knew they could have brought an entire army and we wouldn't have known until we were all about to be killed over some stupid doors." He said pausing for a bit of air.
"What we need is a more advanced warning system. Something that will tell us who's coming. Preferably earlier that when they're at our doors. I was hoping y'all would have something like some boobie traps, trip wires more cameras that cover more places around the edge of the grounds and the drive up. I'm not sure if this is over kill but let's face it rebuilding the mansion gets annoying after you've done it about two or three times." Shawn said this last part with a little chuckle. "What do you recommend?"

For several moments Luke was silent as he mulled over the situation that Streak had presented. Knowing ahead of time when the enemy was coming to the mansion was a necessity, and it was even more important to be able to track them some distance away from the mansion which would mean sensors or cameras that were capable of seeing a distance.
"I can provide you with the basic security elements... I'd suggest extra cameras on the wall that keep an eye both outside the grounds and inside. Sensors added into the wall that monitor the structural integrity so you know the instant that there's breach, as well as motion sensors within the grounds themselves. They can be tuned to ignore small animals like cats, dog, or rabbit while automatically noticing and marking larger intruders." Luke finally spoke up, his voice serious as he kept his attention focused on Streak.
"But probably the most valuable asset you could get is out of reach financially. What you really need is a satellite that can monitor the area surrounding the mansion." Lifting his hand to still any objections that he almost knew would be coming Luke smiled ever so slightly, "Let me explain. The military as well as various research groups have used what are called balloon satellites in the past. From what I understand they have no begun to equip those satellites with small maneuvering jets, and solar panels for power. These satellites stay within the upper edges of earth's atmosphere so that they are always stationed over the same spot. If it were possible for the mansion to get access or possession to one of those satellites you would be able to monitor the area around the mansion for hundred's of miles. You could see approaching vehicles long before they ever arrive as well as approaching mutants."
It was an off the wall idea but it was the best thing that Luke could think of for this situation. It was possible to purchase those kinds of satellites but it would be more expensive than Luke could ever swing and although he didn't know what the mansion's finances entailed, he doubted they could swing something like that.

After Streak had finished explaining the problem, he waited for Luke to present a solution to his problem. It didn't take long for him to think of something. It was mostly what he was hoping for but not entirely. In truth Shawn was hoping that Luke would present something that would be a little more feasible or cost effective. "You do realize that this is a school right? How would the motion sensors inside the grounds tell the difference between an intruder and someone who lives there and is playing out on the grounds?" He questioned Luke. He didn't mean to criticize to harshly but he needed to understand the practicality in having motion sensors inside the mansion grounds if there was always kids running around playing or practicing their powers.
"Ya the mansion isn't in any position to afford a satellite. What with all the rebuilding that we have to constantly do from all the kids, the fights, and whatever else happens that would cause damage to the mansion." He thought that it was a good idea. However, he also thought that the idea was perhaps a bit over zealous and a bit of an impossible dream. "We need to look at the more possible options, like your first idea. The camera's would be great as well as the sensor thingy's inside the walls surrounding the mansion." he said. His mind started to whirl as he thought of price of how much this would cost. he knew it was going to be expensive because he was going to buy a lot of things that would help withe safety of the mansion. That was his main priority. He could take care of himself, and he knew that the rest of the X-Men could help and take care of themselves but they needed the protection for the younger mutants and those who's powers weren't exactly strong or made for fighting.
"Do you have anything else along the lines of advanced warnings? Ya know like booby traps, trip wire sensors, pressure sensors or something along those lines. Of course all of this would be non-lethal cause, let's face it I don't want to find a dead prospective student lying somewhere because he set off a booby trap that killed him." Shawn smiled a little to show that he was joking a little. He then returned to serious. "I know I'm going to regret asking this but..." he took a deep breath, "how much will all this cost?" he cringed a little as he waited for the answer that he thought would be a very large number.

Luke chuckled softly as he watched Streak cringe. "Fortunately for you we're currently running a special... all equipment for the Mansion, no charge. Besides, it's all tax deductable since the school is a non-profit organization." Luke replied.
Knowing that they did need to focus more on the actual defenses, Luke once again became serious. "Since the satellite is out of the question, I'm going to suggest a slightly more covert idea. If we hook up camera to monitor the roads leading up the mansion then you can have advance warning. The cameras can be disguised to blend in with light poles, telephone poles, or even trees. As for the grounds themselves the first thing you'll need to do is announce to students that there is a... fifteen foot area around the wall that is off limits. That will allow you to set up the motion sensors, pressure plates, and trip wires without fear of a student actually coming across them."
Non-lethal was the important part of this situation. Luke could think of only a couple of options that were feasable to be used as non-lethal ideas.
"For the pressure plates, I would have them attached to an electrical current that can shock an intruder. Enough to stun or render them unconscious but not enough to kill. Also, the current would have to be on a timer so that the jolt would never be going for more than five to ten seconds. The motions sensors I would have attached to dart guns set up on a rotating base. The darts can be loaded with a poison that would render the intruder unconscious. Of course you can also hook up net launchers or entangling devices to try and trap your intruders as well. What sounds good to you?"

"I like the sound of free." Streak said smiling and cheering up immediately. The more covert the better. Streak thought as he listened to Luke's ideas. He had some really good ones as far as how to spy on people and how to get the intruders by surprise. After Luke finished Shawn sat there for a moment thinking about the best choices and how they would benefit him the most. It took about a minute before he was ready to respond to Luke's ideas.
"Well. I do like most of the ideas. The pressure plates and cameras do sound like some of the best options to catch unsuspecting people by surprise. Or course that's the whole idea behind this. I think what would be best would be to have the cameras placed on trees and lamp posts that were leading up to the mansion. That'll also help us know when we've got a new student arriving." The silver man started. He was very inclined to have this set up and wanted it to happen as fast and as soon as possible. The longer they waited the bigger chance they took of another surprise attack from the Order or someone else bent on doing harm to a large group of mutants. "I have to admit I'm a little hesitant about having tranquilizer darts shooting at people. Just because if they dodge it, it could backfire on us and knock out someone who's trying to defend the mansion. Net launchers and entangler present a similar problem; however, I'd feel better about having those than darts. Although..." he said thinking, "if we could maybe try out both just to see which one works better or has better aim it might put my mind at ease concerning the two."
Streak was getting excited just thinking about all of the possibilities that they were putting together. Once this new mansion security was in place it would be hard for even Ghost to sneeze while incorporeal and Streak not know about it. He couldn't help but smile at the thoughts that were running through his head. "What would the trip wires connect to? the Nets? an alarm? some cameras?" He asked Luke. These were the important questions that he needed to know before setting all of this up at the mansion.

"Personally I would attach the trip wires to two different items. A camera that turns on when the trip wire is tugged on, and possibly a cage or pit of some kind that opens up for the intruder to drop down into." Luke replied after several moments of thought. This was not like any of other security systems he had set up over the years but at the same time it wasn't really all that different. Sure, they wanted to add in deterrents and traps, but the basic premise was still the same.
"As for the dart guns, I can understand th problem with that. You don't want to be knocking out any of your own people that are responding to the threat. The targeting systems for those weapons are designed to take down humans but if you're dealing with mutants that have increased speed and agility they could have a problem. More than likely sticking with an alert system, electrified pressure plates, and pitfalls would be the safest bet for you."

"I like the ideas you're throwing out here. I think we can agree that we've come up with things that will hopefully make things much harder for any Order members to get near our grounds, let alone on them, without our team knowing about their presence." He said. Streak was getting excited at the thought of having such an advanced warning that if the Order or humans even thought about attacking again they'd be met with a force that was prepared for them.
"Let's go with that. So just to recap, since we've thrown around so many ideas, I would like to have:" He began counting on his fingers, "extra cameras on the perimeter, sensors in the walls so that we know if the walls are being attacked, electric pressure plates, trip wires for alarms and pitfalls connected to the trip wires and pressure plates." Shawn thought for a minute before asking, "I don't think I forgot anything. When can we get this set up? I'd like to get this in place as soon as possible to prevent any more attacks." He had his own health to keep in mind when he said this but his major concerns were the students there and some of his friends, like Raina if he was going to get specific.

Luke's expression was thoughtful as he ran through the scenarios in his mind. Getting some of the equipment installed could be done relatively quickly while some of the others would take more time.
"I'd suggest we prioritize and divide and conquer. I don't think it's a good idea to have my company or even myself install all of the equipment. We can come in and set up the wall sensors and extra camera in two or three days. If you've got someone at the mansion that's good with computers and electronics they could set up the camouflaged cameras at whatever locations you think are best. Also, they can work with you on installing the pitfalls and electric pressure plates."
Everything made sense in Luke's mind but he knew that Streak would probably be wondering why he didn't want to be involved in all of the system setup.
"Anything my company installs is gonna be on record, which means that an accomplished hacker could break in and get schematics for your mansion security. While that's not likely, it is possible so that's why I think you should keep the more covert monitoring and traps in house so that the information isn't published anywhere."

"Two or three days sounds like a reasonable time frame for the amount of cameras that'll be getting set up." Streak finally said to Luke. It seemed like a good idea that they didn't set up everything. However, once he had time to think about it he began to wonder why he Luke didn't want his company to set up all of the security measures. He began thinking about where would be the best place for them to set up the cameras. Streak was about to ask Luke the reasoning behind not setting up all the security measures when the question was answered for him. He nodded as he finally understood why Luke recommended Streak set up some of the more secretive systems personally.
"I understand. I don't want the Order, or anyone else for that matter, to know about the new security measures. I'm sure I can find someone to help me set up this up. There's got to be someone that can help set up all the electronics." Streak said thinking about who was talented enough with electronics to help him set them up. Ruby came to mind but he wasn't sure how good she was with electronics other than with robots. He could always ask her once he got back to the mansion.
