Mutations
Mutation description: André has the mutant power to absorb and store cosmic radiation and then discharge it at will. In short, André’s body gathers cosmic energy and converts it, processes it, and emanates it into energy which drastically heat the air in its path, ultimately turning the energy into plasma, discharged in the from of a blast or beam (think of it as like how reactors convert nuclear energy into heat). Simply put, André absorbs solar rays and then releases it in the form of plasma beams. Because André’s source of cosmic energy comes from solar cosmic rays, or the Sun, the color of André’s energy appears amber.
Strengths: Because of the nature of his power, André is immune to the adverse effects of radiation and heat, and to the effects of his own powers. Although the Sun is his main source of cosmic energy, André can absorb cosmic energies from alternative sources in his environment, such as x-rays and gamma radiation, to supplement his powers should he still have traces of cosmic radiation within him. Once André stores the radiation within his body's cells, his body begins metabolizing the energy in order to generate plasma wave discharges that super-heat and disintegrate objects or create concussion bursts by violently displacing air molecules in his path. André’s absorption is passive. He cannot forcibly drain energy.
Weaknesses: André’s greatest weakness is his lack of control. Although André can voluntarily discharge the energy from his body, he cannot fully contain it either. This usually happens when André is in emotional distress, mental anguish and the like. André’s ability to discharge plasma is finite, and solely depends on how much cosmic radiation he's absorbed. Near exhaustion of his energy will take him him nearly 20 hours to gather adequate radiation and recharge. André also can only absorb cosmic energy by actually being in direct contact with solar rays. Should he use his power to its limit, without the aid of cosmic energy refueling him, his mutant power will temporarily become deadened to him, and will take tine to reawaken and continue absorbing energy.
Secondary mutation description: (None currently/Powers still evolving)

History Of Your Character: André was born in in Lima, Peru to an impoverished family. Growing up as an only child and in the midst of the country‘s internal conflict, André’s parents struggled to provide for him. When André was four, his father was killed in the Peruvian Civil War. Seeking a better life for her child, André’s mother escaped to America by the time André turned six. At that time, André and his mother settled in Los Angeles, California. Being illegal immigrants, André’s mother as forced to keep a low profile, often taking underpaying jobs. By the time André had turned 13, the prospect of gaining easy money lured him to starting a gang life. After half-heartedly joining a minor street gang, André was pressured into helping them rob a convenient store. During their armed robbery, a seemingly normal civilian being held in the store asked that the boys leave. Unbeknownst to them was that this man was a mutant. When André’s “friends” attempted to force the man back to the ground by swinging a crowbar at him, the man telekinetically flung his against the wall, subduing André’s “friend”. It was a sight André would never forget. Fearing the mutant, André and his fellow small-time street gang members fled the store. From then on, something switched on inside him. André eventually cleaned up his life as best as he could when he was around the age of 16, taking an interest in auto mechanics. One night, when he was walking to his house after withdrawing money from an ATM machine, he noticed that he was being followed by several figures. Leaving nothing to chance, André ran into a back alley, only to find that it was a dead end, save for a dumpster. As he expected, the figures were following him, probably since he left the ATM machine. Once one of them took out a knife, it immediately reminded him of the time he attempted to rob a convenient store. Suddenly, an amber beam of energy fired from André hand, blasting the large dumpster past the thugs to nearly the other side of the street. Peering down, André saw that both of his hands were glowing the same amber color, pulsing. A flurry of feelings and emotions flooded André’s mind. Fear, awe, excitement, and above all, confusion. He couldn’t feel it or notice it. It just happened. On minute, he running from thugs seeking to rob him, and the next, he scared them off. He was a mutant. Over the years, André practiced his new found power discretely, fearing the reaction people would have towards him. André succeeded, until an accident occurred. When he was 19, André realized that he’d become a danger to those around him. While he was practicing the use of his powers in his apartment building, he accidentally unleashed a plasma blast through his entire building, injuring nearly a dozen people, including a 4-year-old boy. After a month or so of planning, André packed his belongings and left Los Angeles, deciding to move to New York to find mutants who can help him understand his power, and control it. Living on his own wasn’t expected to be an easy experience. After his accident with his powers, André had been living in an apartment building in the slums of New York City. He knew it was going to be a hard life, researching for a job while trying to make ends meet where he was living, and with his landlady, this was especially difficult. But there are some things you just can’t prepare for without experiencing it first.
Finally, André found a job at a local auto shop. This was just the first step, though. Since he got here, he’d repeatedly been behind on his rent payments, and he didn’t have a very understanding landlady. So, André decided to leave early, 4:12 AM early, just for this Wednesday. He’d come up with the money somehow, eventually. He always did, just not on time like he was suppose to. Until then, he decided to keep dodging his landlady as long as he could. As André’s door creaked to a close, he groaned in annoyance, hearing a loud “Alquiler!”.
It was Mrs. García. Looks like he didn’t leave early enough…
“Alquiler! André, que está un mes de retraso en el alquiler! Desde el mes que llegué aquí siempre cayó detrás en sus pagos! Usted me dijo que la última vez fue realmente la última vez, y ahora ha pasado de nuevo! ¿Dónde está mi alquiler?”
André held his arms up slightly, trying to calm his landlady’s angry yelling so early in the morning, while trying to manage his nervous explanation of why he hasn’t given his promised rent.
“Yeah, yeah. Mrs. García, I know. I promised I’d get the rent on time, and I will - I said I promised, and I will. It’s… just gonna be a little late, that‘s all. Ya sabes cómo es. Usted entiende ¿verdad?”
“Ah, usted está tratando de hablar su buen camino para salir de esta, ¿eh? Su hablar suave y de esta manera: si no me la renta a finales de esta semana, tendré que desalojar. Estoy cansado de tus excusas, y estoy cansado de ti. Dame mi alquiler, o que está fuera de aquí!”
Mrs. García stormed back into her room, leaving a disheartened André standing in the hall. He’d need to get the rent money by the end of the week, or get evicted. André left the apartment building, angered and frustrated. Taking a detour down an alley, André punched the brick wall with al his might, letting out his frustration. André saw, amazed, that the punch made an impact on the brick wall. Furthering his surprise, he saw that his fists were glowing amber, just as when he releases the amber colored plasma. André calmed himself down and started his first day of work.
The day was long, and though André’s mind was preoccupied, he worked diligently. He didn’t want his attitude to affect his job performance and blow his greatest means of getting the money on time. As his first workday ended, André left feeling more at ease with himself than he had earlier, taking a shortcut through a long alley. As André walked back to his apartment complex, the loud yelling and gunshots induced his attention towards an electronics store. Running out were four masked men carrying electronic devices and a medium sized duffel bag. André looked away and tried to ignore the situation, but he ended up turning back. As luck would have it, all four men were running down the alley André was in. André clenched his fists tightly, watching as they began to emit the amber-colored glow. As the thieves ran past the corner where André was hiding, stuck both of his arms out, jerking the exact moment he opened his palms.
The amber plasma beams burst out, knocking two of the thugs out instantly by colliding them into the alley wall. By the time the other two turned to see what had happened, André sent another two beams, knocking one thug into a garbage dumpster and the other onto an old car. From what he saw, it was pretty obvious that most of what the thugs were carrying were stolen goods, making the duffel bag look a bit out of place. As André opened the bag, he saw that it was filled with cash. André was frozen in his place, wondering whether he should take it or leave it. He was pressed for money, but would it be right? The sound of police sirens increased André nervousness. The bag was filled with bills, many of which were 100 dollar bills. In the spur of the moment, André took little more than $ 1,500 and fled the scene.
As André ran into his room, he contemplated his decision. “It’s just a little cash. No one’s gonna miss it.”
