The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sam did have a point, his 'stunt' as he called it had broken the trust the team (any everyone living in the mansion) had in him.
But really, how many people that had come to the mansion could have been considered all that trustworthy when they first got there? Over half, Lee figured, had broken laws of some sort. Yes, that number had dropped, it seemed, in the last couple years as mutants became more and more accepted by society.
"I'm sure they'll let you stay, Sam," Lee said, trying to make her voice sound reassuring. "Yeah, they might not let you back on the team right away, but I can't see them just kicking you out."
Then all of a sudden, a man with four arms that Lee was sure she had never seen before was standing right in front of her and Sam, making strange noises and spinning around. And pointing over at the kids that Alice had been playing with.
"Mark, Nick!" Lee called over her shoulder to the two oldest kids Alice had been playing with. Keeping an eye on the man in front of her, Lee took a slight sideways step to put herself more directly between him and the kids. "Inside. Now."
Having said that, Lee turned fully back to the man, who had spun around until he fell to the ground. As she saw him get back up, Lee tensed slightly. Until she saw him walk into a tree and fall back to the ground. "What the hell?" Lee asked Sam slowly.

Sam watched as Lee stepped in front of the kids and his hands twitched slightly, he was getting ready to protect Lee and the kids. After all that’s who he was, he was a shield a hero and a friend, he would be damned if one of his friends got hurt around him. Even though the big four armed man was yelling he didn’t seem like he was going to fight he looked like he needed something. Sam steeped in front of Lee as she spoke. “I don’t know, back up a little bit.” Sam was aware that Lee could take care of herself but there was no reason she should be put in danger with Sam around.
Sam looked to the big guy and in a calm voice he said, “Whatcha need big guy?”

Shiva was scolding the tree that he had run into, muttering incoherant strings of syllables at it, and every once and a while punching it slightly. After a little bit, he figured the tree had learned it's lesson, so he turned back to face the people. To his great surprise, it seemed as if the children had dissapeared behind one of the adults.
One of the people, however, sparked a flicker in Shiva's madness-ridden mind. Something about him hooked into the normal fluid state of Shiva's thoughts and held them on to the past, to seeing just one word, almost ten years ago. Shiva turned and studied the man, thinking more and more, until that man reached out a hand to him.
“Whatcha need big guy?”
That soft, calm voice, the slight mannerisms in the way he spoke, even the way he handled himself, all of those things spurred Shiva to remember. Shiva absently reached down and put a big branch into Sam's hand, concentrating, and finally it came to the surface, and Shiva knelt down to the ground and scratched it into the dirt.

Shiva smiled and pointed at Sam, pleased at his accomplishment, but not knowing what exactly it was he had accomplished.
