The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Smooth Luke" she thought as he slipped the arm around her but she made no attempt to move it. She couldn't very well say that after everything they'd been through that this was moving too fast? And there wasn't anyone looking... she let it stay where it was.
It made her feel better when he lightened the mood with the suit joke after explaining he'd never think that way about her. It was hard not to be scared when her beginnings with Rupert had started so simply. She'd hung on to that for so long. The memories of the innocence.
"Well, as long as your suit matches I can't complain." she laughed. "I wouldn;t complain anyway, in fact I'd change my clothes so we matched and no one else could complain either" She pulled the cooler over
"We've got more if you're still hungry. I am.' she laughed reaching for another sandwhich. "I try to pack a lot of food... my transformation can leave me weak if i'm not careful."
She continued leaning against his shoulder while she ate, it was almost an unconscious action that made her feel stable and a bit safer within the whole situation. it reminded her that he really did survive and really was right there. She was falling in this pretty deep.
When he asked about the Jazz club she straightened up and looked at his face. "You're serious aren't you?" she looked curious. 'Well.. why don't we go to your apartment, I'll stay while you rest and make sure you're ok for the night. If I see that you're getting better I'll feel better instead of me picking you up later and you faking being OK." she laughed. "besides... your blood pressure may be OK but I still feel like I should keep an eye on you. I'm worried about the bends or any other trauma. "
She hoped she wasn't imposing but at his near death Raina was afraid if she left him alone he might actually die. It was more of a shell-shocked kind of feeling but she was determined and not going to let this go.

At Raina's invitation Luke grabbed out another sandwich and returned to eating. Was it awkward to eat with only one hand? Minimally, but not enough for him to move the arm that he had around her. If she asked him to or made any gesture that could be interpreted at her not wanting it there he would be more than willing to do so but since she hadn't neither did he.
When Raina responded Luke wasn't sure who was more surprised... her at his still being interested in going to the Jazz club or himself at just how surprised she seemed to be. "Of course I want to hang out with you." Luke thought to himself, thinking that the answer should have been at least a little obvious, "Or... maybe I've been hiding my feelings to much."
"So I have my very own guardian angle now? Sound's good to me." Luke answered as he tried to keep the tone light and easy for Raina. Falling silent again Luke returned to eating his sandwich, dwelling on a question in his mind and wondering whether he should voice it. Finally after he had finished this second sandwich Luke decided he should ask the question he was beginning to wonder about.
"If you don't my asking... will you want to change clothes before we go to the club because, last time I checked, you weren't storing any type of selection at my house." He finally ventured out with some curiosity in his voice, "I mean, what you have on is sexy to say the least but... uh... oh nevermind."

"Guardian fish more likely. You fall off any buildings and I might not be able to help you there." she laughed biting into the second sandwhich. "But in the water I can handle."
She was wondering if they really would get to the Jazz Club or if by the time they got home Luke would be too tired and worn out. She'd have to see. "My clothes?" she asked. "eh... well that's a good point." she looked down at them. "The Jazz club is pretty dressy and I haven't really bought anything dressy since coming to the mansion. Last time I went to the club I enjoyed myself and stuck out like a sore thumb." she admitted.
"I can wear this for now, but I probably should change before we go." she said "We can figure something out once we get to your place. It's still early in the day and the club wont even open til about ten tonight... lots of time to figure it out."
Though she'd said it she didn't quite believe it yet. She wasn't really sure what she could do, maybe she'd sneak out shopping while Luke got some rest. "You want to head back soon?"

Having eaten two sandwiches was quite a recharge but what sounded even better was the hot shower and nap. Luke was sure that given just a little time he would at least enough energy to go to the Jazz club tonight with Raina. If he had to force his body to cooperate he was not going to give up this time with her!
"Yeah, I think I'm ready." Luke answered before pushing himself up off the ground and moving up to his feet. "Whoa... the whole world is swimming... don't let on. Focus... focus." Luke thought to himself as a wave of dizziness slammed into his head. Gritting his teeth behind as pleasant an expression as he could manage the blind man pushed the dry suit the rest of the way off before turning back to the clothes he had removed a little earlier.
"Pants first... get covered." Luke thought to himself as he turned his back to Raina and focused on pulling his clothing back on. He could remember any time in his life when getting dressed was such a workout but as every muscle screamed at him to let them rest he focused on the prize that was ahead if he could do everything right: another night out with Raina. Finally the jeans were fasted in front and Luke bent over to pick up his t-shirt. For a moment he teetered as though about to fall but with firm resolution he picked up the shirt and stood up straight and tall, slipping it on over his head.
"Just breathe... breathe... I can do this. No problem. I've been through worse... I can handle it." Luke continued to tell himself as he sat back down on the blanket, doing his best not to simply fall down but sit with at least some manner of control. "Not the best in the world but it works."
Moments later Luke had on his socks and boots and with effort that was at least somewhat obvious pushed himself back up to his feet. "See... I'm fine." Luke assured Raina as he slipped his blue windbreaker back on, "Now... what can I help you carry?"

When Luke went for his clothes Raina watched wearily and flipped open her cell phone calling for a cab. She'd gathered everything up and had it all rolled up inside the big blanket she'd brought. She was fairly good at packing things since she had backpacked around for a few years.
"Carry something?" she exclaimed seeing the cab pull up. "I don't think that'll be necessary." she came over beside him and pulled his arm around her shoulders. "I don't care how strong you are Luke ... humor me." she said before he could protest and lead him to the cab.
She couldn't lie, she'd stolen a few glances while he changed. She was mostly relieved to see that there was no bruising or discoloration. When they got to the cab she piled the items in the back and pulled Luke down to one of the seats. "Get comfy Mr." she grinned and got in the front with the cab driver. She gave him Luke's address and took in more of the scenery this time as they drived.
They past the place they'd had lunch at and she smiled at how nice this area of town was. Last time it went by in a blur.
They arrived to the apartment and the cabby offerered to take their belongings up the elevator and leave them at Luke's door. Raina was appreciative and tipped him everything she'd had left in her pockets. She slung an arm around Luke. "Alright, elevator time. It might not make your tummy too happy here." she laughed walking him to it slowly and calmly.
"Now, I'm sure being babied is driving a big strong guy like you nuts, but for my sense of sanity you're going to have to put up with it." She said as they got on the elevator and she punched the number. Soon they were wirrling to the correct floor and she stepped out with Luke to see the cabby had been true to his word.

Luke wanted to protest that he was plenty strong to help with the equipment... he wanted to protest vehemently but a particularly spunky mermaid was overruling him without the slightest chance to argue or plead his case. Grinning slightly the blind man decided that it would be best if he just enjoyed having his arm around the young woman as they walked to the cab.
"Get comfy Mr." Raina instructed after loading all of her stuff into the back of the cab. With a mock salute Luke sat down in the space that was still available in back while she climbed up in the front seat. As soon as he felt himself up against soft, cushioned seats Luke let his head fall back and just relax against the back of the seat. Everything felt so much better than the sand that he had been sprawled out on not that long ago that already he could feel himself beginning to drift off to sleep.
When the cab came to a stop Luke's head suddenly popped back up as he swiftly shook it to clear away the cob webs that had begun to creep in. "She didn't see me napping did she?" Luke thought as he suddenly found himself listening carefully to Raina and the cabbie talking, "If she thinks I'm to tired she won't go to the jazz club and I am not losing out on that!"
"Alright, elevator time. It might not make your tummy too happy here." Raina said with a laugh as Luke climbed out of the cab and the two began to make their way toward the elevator. Compared to his normal pace this was akin to moving like a turtle or snail but it was better than not moving at all.
"Now, I'm sure being babied is driving a big strong guy like you nuts, but for my sense of sanity you're going to have to put up with it." Raina said as she continued to take charge by pressing the correct floor number.
"Yes ma'am... any chance you can fluff my pillow for me and stroke my forehead while I take my nap?" Luke teased back, not realizing that the weariness in his voice was rather obvious.
"There. Home safe and sound. You got a key?"
"I can handle this part, thank you." Luke replied as he pulled the key out of his pocket and held it firmly in his hand. Once they were at the door he unlocked it and then held it wide open so that Raina could make her way in. "If you don't mind I'm going to take a quick shower before napping... I'd like to get the rest of this sand off." He said as soon as both were inside and the door was closed. "If you're interested I invested in a couple of extra bottles of rubbing alcohol... they're in the spare bathroom under the sink. Help yourself if you'd like."
Moving forward with increased confidence again, the blind man slipped into his bedroom and then softly closed the door. In a matter of minutes he had stripped off his clothing and thrown them in the hamper that was right next to the master bathroom door and only a few minutes after that he was standing under a steady stream of hot water.
"That's nice... really nice." Luke murmured in appreciation as he slowly rotated his shoulder to work out any kinks and then popping his neck before grabbing the bottle of shampoo. "Summer... we need to try this again in summer when the water is warm." Once the shampoo was rinsed out of his hair Luke just remained standing under the stream, feeling the steady beat of the pulse shower head massaging and continuing to relax his muscles anymore. Finally he forced himself to admit that it was time to get out and go back to Raina.
Stepping out Luke suddenly felt cold as the cool air in the house touched his damp skin. Moving as quickly as his still sore muscles could handle Luke dried off and then toss the towel over the top of the hamper as he walked over to his dresser. After selecting a pair of boxers, sweat pants, and t-shirt Luke pulled on the clothes and then made his way out of the bedroom and over to closest brown leather recliner. Kicking back Luke stretched, his eyes already closed as his body continued to move toward the sleep he so wanted.
"There's stuff for hot tea and hot chocolate in the kitchen... you can help yourself to anything you'd like. Make yourself at home." Luke offered to Raina, his voice already drowsy as he began to drift off to sleep, "Just don't run off without me." And then he was off to dream whatever might float through his mind.

Raina laughed as Luke joked right along with her and lead her into the house. She placed her pile of things as neatly as she could by the door and took off her light shoes. She was a bit sandy but Raina didn't mind sand that much.
She took in the surroundings of the apartment a bit more... last time everything went by in a blur and this time not a single detail escaped her eyes. Luke had spoken up to her after getting settled in: ""If you're interested I invested in a couple of extra bottles of rubbing alcohol... they're in the spare bathroom under the sink. Help yourself if you'd like."
She wasnt expecting anything like that and was impressed he remembered from their last visit. With a happy smile she set off to the spare bathroom while he went to the main one.
After catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror Raina was again so very thankful Luke couldnt see this much. Her skin was blotchy from the cold, her hair a tangled mess, and she was covered with sand. Her eyes were red and puffy from not only being underwater so long but from crying. With a sigh she stripped down and grabbed the alcohol bottles and sat in the tub.
Cleaning yourself with alcohol was never fun- especially when you were covered in little tiny scratches and scraped. But Raina 'manned up' so to speak and while wincing managed to get her body clean and end up smelling like a hospital. It wouldn't do the trick for her hair so the best thing she could do was pull it back in a long french braid that plaited down her back.
Satisfied she dried herself off and cleaned out the tub and put her clothes back on after giving them a good shake. They weren't actually that bad- not enough for the jazz club but they'd do for the next few hours. She was thinking to herself as she worked away that she should probably just start asking Luke if she could spend time with him instead of coming of with crazy potentially life threatening training excersizes to get his attention. "Be a woman!" she told herself. "Just ask the man on a date next time already!"
She reamerged from the bathroom feeling better than before and had even managed some mouthwash from an unopened bottled by the sink. She met Luke in the main room where he was stretched out already falling asleep in the nearest recliner. She smiled to herself. "I'll just make use of your spare room then." she grinned. "Sweet dreams." and she meant it.
Heading over toward the spare bedroom Raina moved as quietly as she could. Her body ached and begged her to lie down already and she wasn't going to ignore it much more. Opening the door and peering in she saw an extravagent spare bedroom with a beautiful bed. It was easily twice the size of hers. Raina wasn't used to being able to roll over. "helllllooo heaven!" she said with a giggle and ran toward the bed tossing herself on it's duvet on feathery goodness.
She sunk in an enjoyed the best sigh of her life. She didn't even bother to change positions or get under neath the blankets. She curled up on her tummy right there spread eagle and fell into the best deepest sleep of her life.
