The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(OOC: Just a post to get caught back up.)
IC: As Calley described the 'Danger Room', Luke did his best to adjust to the idea of a room where you could go to practice with your powers. Because his own abilities didn't affect many people finding somewhere to train had never been an issue but from how the others had described their various powers it was obvious that some of them would need a place like this to come to.
Tossing his jacket and sunglasses down just outside of the actual 'Danger Room', Luke wandered in and stood casually as he listened to Neena decide on how to break everyone up into smaller groups.
"If everyone could kind of separate yourselves by mutations, that'll give us visual of who's who. Let's do basics. Um.... Let's do.... General elementals, like Cold Steel and Raina. Physical manifestations, like Silver Streak and Nika. Aaaand.... Enhanced senses or sense manipulators, like Seizure and Luke. Go with your main ability for the moment, 'kay?"
Slowly walking over to one side Luke began to slowly stretch out the kinks in his muscles even as his sonar began to extend to sweep over the room. Quickly noting where Ghost, Nika, and Raina were the blind man pulled his sonar sense back in so that it would end just before hitting any of them.
"Just as a note... if any of you start to see shadows or 'ghosts' at the edge of your vision ignore them. It's something that happens when my adrenaline gets pumping." The blind man called out just as Seizure came walking up. As the distance between the two men closed he could 'see' the smile on the other man's face but there was something off in his body language.
"Might have to talk to him after this is over." Luke thought idly to himself as he gave the other man a quick nod. "Pleasure to work with you Seizure." He offered before returning his focus to stretching out his legs and arms.
Katrina had just barely gotten into her seat, and smiled meekly back at the headmistress' wink, when the introductions came to a close and it was time to move on.
Next up was a move to the Danger Room to help understand the team mates learn more about working together. Katrina had never actually had a Danger Room session before, since she wasn't really a combatant and her powers weren't dangerous enough themselves to necessitate the use of the Danger Room for training. She had, however, participated in a team work training session for the resistance during the Registration period. If she could help then, perhaps she could also help now.
As people were leaving to make their way to the large training room next door, the headmistress stopped by Katrina's chair to address her personally. Katrina sat up very straight. She felt like she was talking to a legend. Even Neena looked to this woman as a leader.
>>>"I'd like it very much if you came to the Danger Room as well. Would you mind tagging along?"
Katrina nodded sincerely. Of course she'd follow. Finally finding her voice, Katrina blurted out, “I'll do anything I can to help.” She dropped her eyes, embarrassed by her own sudden exclamation of helpfulness. In the headmistress' arms a baby blinked back up at her with big eyes. So, I'm not quite the youngest one here. Katrina peered at the baby and let him grasp one of her fingers in his fist. Sevion, the headmistress had called him. His fingers were so tiny compared to her own. Gently, she extracted her finger again and stood to follow the herd of mutants leaving the room and filing down the hall to the Danger Room.
Unlike the others who were gathering and sorting themselves in the center of the large room, Katrina scouted out a place where she could sit on the sidelines and watch the proceedings. She made her way over to a stairway that led to up to a ledge that circumnavigated the room. The ledge seemed like as good a place as any to sit and watch the X-team go through their exercise.

Following the anouncement Nathan anxiously walked with everyone into the Danger Room. He didn't feel the need to change his clothes so he didn't go with the other mutants who did. Nathan made a b-line towards Ali when Neena called for the general elementals to get into a group.
The reason for Nathan's anxiety was that he had no idea how Ali would react with him being back. He had left without any warning. And there wasn't any way of denying they had similar powers, so he couldn't fit into another group. So he figured that he would just go up to her and apologize before this exercise started, and they would talk at length later.
Nathan stood infront of her and quickly said, "I'm sorry." He stood there waiting for her reaction.
Neena said elementals in one group. Ghost chewed her lip and absently followed the herd into the danger room. In the danger room, Neena was boss. Except that she'd asked for elementals to stay in one group. Ghost trusted her friendly neighborhood fire manipulators just about as far as she could throw them. Seraph was nice and she supposed Ali was too, but they hadn't earned enough of her trust for her to feel entirely comfortable around them. Maybe she hadn't stressed just how flammable she was. Because once she went up in flames she was out of a fight.
Ghost sighed and stood awaiting further orders by the fire elementals, Raina, and Steel. She waited like a good little elemental should because Neena was boss. She may not exactly trust the firemancers' control, but she trusted her own and she trusted Neena's judgment.
Ghost felt a brief sweep of sonar that made her glance over to where Garrett was approaching Luke. She nodded at Luke's warning against seeing 'ghosts' even though it felt so ironic. Ghost waved nervously to Garrett. She'd never fought with him... in fact, Ghost had fought beside Sam against Garrett. It was all just too weird.

Max felt out of place. Simple as that. The young mutant walked to the Danger Room with the other mutant. already, he was feeling nervous. He had not a need to change, as he was already in loose clothing. They would allow moving well enough. Still, he wasn't too happy about the idea of the danger room. He'd went in there once, but proved not ready at the time, despite the adult supervision he'd had.
Still they walked into a room he'd only been in once before. He believed that he was mostly a pacifist, though he was up for fighting if there was no other choice. Still, could it really be called fighting if it were for practice of safety? He questioned the truth of his nervousness about his willingness to fight. He had a huge suspicion that he was more worried about his ability to fight. He couldn't control electricity, or wind, or fire, or shoot lasers (as he'd stated before). His passive mutation was acting up already, though he was clearly working hard to keep it down, and calm.
Then, of course, Neena had them divided into groups. Oh how Maximillian disliked groups. He still agreed teamship was important. However, he didn't work well with others, as his mutation effected all in the range, and if that meant his mate, then he was a bit out of luck. Worse than that was that he'd not known any of the others in the Danger Room past what they'd told him. One guy, he'd recognized, was one that all the others in the mansion called, "The Pain Guy." Fox wondered whether it was his alias, or just a reputation.
Nevertheless the cause of the name, Maximillian slowly moved over towards the group of senses manipulators. It was the closest group that matched him. The others obviously didn't suit him. He wasn't an elemental, to his dismay. Also, he had no cat-parts on his body. Or any animal for that matter. He stood near the back of his group, now having better control over himself. He just had to make sure nothing happened to him, and he'd be free for anything.

When Ali got eyes on Nathan she nearly dropped her jaw. Was he really back or was someone messing with her mind and emotions? She was having some very mixed emotions right now. On one side she was very happy to see him again. On the other hand he did take off without so much as a good bye. No explanations or calls. As far as she knew he left for good.
After Neena suggested grouping up by abilities Ali watched Nathan head stright over. Not giving much indication of her feelings she remained quiet even though he heart was beating rapidly. When Nathan stopped all he said was he was sorry.
"What are you sorry for Nathan? Are you sorry for leaving for no reason? Maybe you're sorry for not making some kind of contact, or is it your sorry for breaking my heart?"
Ya know, being a fire elemental sure can make you get rather emotional. Then again the element of fire is tied to passion.
For the moment she wanted to see if she could get a better reaction from Nathan. Basically letting him feel a little heat for what he had done. He seemed to be feeling something but she had no idea what.
She noticed the other elementals gathering around so she didn"t have to go anywhere. This was good. Now she could continue to wait for Nathans response.

Nathan should have guessed that Ali would be angry. Even if she hadn't been a fire elemental, he had no doubt that she could cause him to burst into flames on the spot. With only the glare that he was receiving right now.
Nathan stayed silent when Ai listed each of his transgressions. The last stung him the most. Like a arrow through his heart. Nathan simply bowed his head and slumped his shoulders under the weight of the accusations. He couldn't argue, for all of them were true.
After Ali was finished and Nathan had worked up enough courage, he spoke. "I would like to apologize for all of them if you will let me. I know that what I did was wrong but you are going to have to trust me that me leaving was the right to do. I always planned on coming back as soon as possible."
Nathan knew that wasn't going to be enough of an explanation but he didn't want everyone else to listen in on their conversation. His business was his, and whoever he decided to share it with. Nathan stepped a little closer to Ali as he started to whisper.
"While I was gone, my brother found somethings in our parents belongings and he also received some as well through the will our parents left us. What he found scared him. It scared him bad. Bad enough to ask me to come down there immediately. I know that's not a good enough answer right now but I would like to elaborate on it at length later on, if you would allow me the favor of your forgiveness?"

Taking a deep breath after her little spat Ali took a deep breath as she tried to relax. Now she let Nathan talk and explain himself. He had a look of sorrow which appeared genuine. Her eye contact with him remained constant while he spoke. Before long Nathan was talking about his brother. A brother? He never mentioned a brother did he?
When Nathan was finished talking Ali felt kinda bad for how she came across to him just a few minutes prior. She stepped closer and put her arms around him and kissed his cheek.
"Alright Nathan. We can talk later. I'm just glad you're back. Now come on. Let's go kick some simulation butt."
IC: Nathan fully expected Ali to walk away in disgust at his pathetic apology. So his surprise was complete when she moved closer to him and her arms snaked around him. He felt the softness of her lips against his cheek. His eyes were wide and unfocused from the shock.
