The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Mommy, mommy, look, there's a horsey girl in the street!"
"Not now James, mommy has to drive.."
Stepping in between the cars locked in a gridlock on the road, Hylonme advanced slowly down the street, looking on either side of her at the people scowling and recoiling at her and scowling right back. Searching the alleyways that branched off of the busy street for a "Golden Gate" she had to weave in between cars to keep moving. All of a sudden, and without warning, the light turned green. Noticing the change and otherwise not caring what it meant, Hylonme suddenly did care as she was forced to jump to the side to avoid a speeding minivan. Looking around in confusion, Hylonme turned to face the opposite of the way the cars were coming to see what had scared them into a stampede, and was caught like a deer in headlights, staring at the incoming car, confusion muddling her mind. At the last second, coming to her senses, Hylonme leaped over the car, landing safetly on the other side and only slightly crushing the trunk.
"WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING, DEERBRAIN HUMAN!!!!!!!"
'Humans, what can you do?'
Finally, when she was looking down one of the alleys, Hylonme spotted a glint of gold, something that caught her eye like a fish on a hook and held it. Elated, she elegantly pranced towards it, and almost leaped with joy as a Gate that appeared to be made of pure gold came into view.
Spotting an intercom and having no clue what it was, Hylonme curiosly pressed the button. Static erupted, and then a recorded voice came on, explaining that this was indeed the Sanctuary.
"Hello! Anyone here!?" Hylonme said into the intercom.
The always attentive Lisa was completing some new arrivals paperwork when she heard the intercom. "Yes, someone is here. How may we be of assistance?" The woman wondered if it was another new mutant or if someone was just lost.
"Please come inside and we can discuss things further." The great golden doors opened slowly so that anyone outside had more than enough time to step out of the way. The sunlight peered into the building and illuminated the spacious foyer inside.
Hylonme jumped almost three feet in the air when the golden gates started soundlessly into motion, pushing outward slowly enough that she could move out of the way. The scene inside was strange to her, but then again, everything looked strange when it came to humans.
The greeting echoed in the huge foyer area as the sound refracted off the marble floor and walls. Lisa looked towards the figure standing in the now open doorway. Standing up she addressed herself to the new arrival to help guide the figure towards herself. "Yes, hello. Please, this way." Lisa made a beckoning gesture with her right arm. She saw that this was a very different mutation in front of her. Half horse and half human...a centaur maybe?
The woman smiled her usual genuine smile. "Welcome to Sanctuary, I'm Lisa. Now, what sort of help are you seeking?" She didn't notice any wounds of any kind on Hylonme.
Lisa had seen all sorts of mutants and every once in awhile she was caught by surprise. This was one of those times, but she did her best to remain poised. "Well, we welcome you here Hylomne. You can stay here with us and I'm sure you'll find there are a few others who share your feelings."
"Oh yes of course. Then once your rested perhaps you'll feel up for a tour and maybe meeting some of the other residents." Lisa typed away on her computer and started looking up what rooms were still open. She picked one that had a large enough bed for the new mutant should she want to use it. Though for all Lisa knew the girl might sleep standing up.
"Ok Hylomne if you would follw me I'll take you to your room." Lisa got up from her desk and lead the way to the designated room.
Hylonme nodded her thanks to Lisa and trotted behind her as they started to head inside the Sanctuary proper. What Lisa said about meeting some of the other residents sounded good to Hylonme. 'Maybe there is someone like me!' But at the moment she was just too tired.
