HISTORY - Garrett grew up in a poor, but caring family and, for the first part of his life, enjoyed a normal existence. Unfortunately, upon puberty's onset, his X-gene became active in a most unexpected and painful way. Overtaken by an intense seizure, young Garrett ended up in the hospital for a week. For the few short minutes he regained consciousness, pain sliced through his body like a knife, rendering him unconscious once more. His family were unable to care for him any longer, and left him in the care of the state, care that basically kept him unaware that he even existed for two years. Likely he would have remained that way, if not for a lack of funds ending the sedative administration. Once more regaining consciousness, Garrett's mutation transfered his pain onto a nurse who attempted to check his vitals. With the pain gone, the now fifteen-year-old youth began a slow recovery. Stuck in he System, and still having seizures, he moved from foster home to foster home, until released at age eighteen.

Garrett quickly became a drifter, homeless and aimless, and isolated from society because of his pain-inducing mutation. When Registration became a reality, he was forcibly recruited to use his 'gift' to torture other mutants into submission. His mind soon fractured in an attempt to retain sanity, locking away the pain-loving demon deep inside. After Registration fell, he again took to wandering, and found himself outside the Sanctuary. However, in a twist of fate, he was directed toward another haven for mutants; Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Garrett made several friends at the Mansion, including the quirky Assistant Headmistress and an intriguing air elemental named Maya, whom he quickly falls for. Unfortunately, during a nighttime raid on the Mansion, Garrett found himself exposed to Haywire, which unleashed his inner demon on his friends, with a vengeance. To save himself, he was forced to merge with the demon. Now he is finding himself tottering between peace and pain, trying to find middle ground once more.

POWERS - Garrett (aka Seizure) is a neural manipulator, enabling him to control both his and others' nervous systems. This usually manifests in him transferring his pain to whoever touches him. In addition he is able to 'map' another's nervous system in his mind, through touch. He can also retract the pain he causes others, as well as shut down the nerves completely.

Same View, Different Perspective - A homeless Garrett listens to a man talking about mutant rights. he also meets Raina and finds out about the Mansion.

Pixy Do, Monkey See - M&Ms and mischief make for an interesting introduction when Garrett meets Petunia in Central Park. They enjoy some misdeeds and then Garrett meets her hundreds of buggy roommates.

Nervous Tension - Garrett explores the facets of his mutation, with the help of Neena, under the DocProf's supervision.

Unkempt Places - Garrett finds a special place on the outskirts of the Mansion grounds that brings back many memories of his youth, both good and bad. Ghost tracks him down and joins him there, and the two acknowledge their special connection.

Snake in the Garden - Garrett's calm world is thrown into chaos when he is exposed to Haywire. His inner demon takes control, trapping him within his own mind while it terrorizes his friends. When it becomes obvious that Garrett's will is stronger than the demon's, it attempts to kill him, which in turn forces Garrett to merge with it to save himself. Only time will show the extent of the damage done.

There is balance in every aspect of life. Light cannot exist without shadow, nor life without death. But can peace truly be achieved without pain? Whether he wants to or not, Garrett seems destined to find out.
