The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kendrick found it interesting that he spent so much time in alleyways these days. If anyone was looking for him, their best bet would probably be to wait in the nearest one. Of course, the alleys were an obvious choice for his "office"; they offered a perfect hiding place for both his "business" and anything left afterwards. Today he was holding a Mr. Thompson against the wall by his neck. He owed a certain man some money, and Kendrick had been hired to retrieve it (granted, his rates were much higher than the money owed, but he didn't bother to point this out to his employer). His grip tightened as Mr. Thompson whimpered. He hated it when people whimpered. "Please," the captive said. "I don't have anything. I'm just a businessman." Kendrick shook his head. "You have a debt. A rather large one at that." The man's eyes widened. He understood. "Look, whatever he's paying you, I'll double it! Triple it!" Panic invaded upon his voice, making it shake and raise in pitch. Kendrick's hand relaxed. "Maybe," he thought, "If this guy has the cash, I could just let him go. It's not like the other guy can do anything to me anyways. I can just say the operation went wrong and I killed him, he won't care." He brought his face close and said aloud, "Do you have it on you?" "No, I never carry more than $100 at any time..." There was a pause, filled with more panic and fear. "I can get it for you, though. Meet me at th-" "I arrange the meeting place," Kendrick growled, slamming Thompson against the wall to emphasize his point. "Now, you're going to put the cash in a brown briefcase and take it to Vinny's Pizza on 34th. Hide it above the far corner ceiling tile in the mens bathroom and leave. If I don't find it there tomorrow night, you'll be paying for it with your blood, got it?" Thompson nodded his head violently. With a sneer of disgust, Kendrick let go of him and let him run off. As he stood there, he simply thought to himself, "I should just kill him anyways after I get his cash. He's too stupid to survive for much longer." He cracked his neck and began walking out of the alley.
Nigel Banks had heard of a petty debt collect who could charge more than the debt he was collecting. A quick look into it revealed that the debt collector was a mutant, one with contortion abilities, extendible limbs and enhanced reflexes. Having someone like that on the payroll should be quite handy.
He entered the alleyway as the latest victim fled past him. Nigel didn’t even spare the man a glance. “Mr Lee,” Nigel asked, “I have a business proposition for you. Something that will offer a steady pay, rather than your current intermittent work as a debt collector. Probably a higher pay too.”

Kendrick looked at the newcomer. The man held himself with an obvious air of confidence and seemed to be a no-nonsense type of guy. Just the type of guy Kendrick loved working for. Still, he eyed the man with a slight suspicion, wondering how he knew his real name and why he was thinking of hiring him full-time (people rarely did that as his fees tended to run pretty high). Nonetheless, he said to him, "I'm listening."
