The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

ic: Doc.Prof had been alerted to the situation with the teacher Raina only moments before seeing the van come hurtling on to school property. He'd been prepping the OR unsure of what he'd be facing with this mutant. He didn't know anything about her condition and her file didn't have much.
He ran out to meet the group with his lab coat still on. "Bring her in here." he said opening the Van door to reveal a a plank to lay her out on and carry her in.

By the time they reached the Mansion gates, Iris was struggling to stay awake. She stumbled several times in the process of getting out of the van and following everyone inside. By the time they reached the Infirmary, she had to stop.
"I'm sorry," she told Flloyd, "but I ca-...." A very undignified yawn cut off her already-slurring words. She shook her head. "Sorry, I can't explain yet. I can't keep going. Give me.... *yawn* .... five minutes, and I'll be back. I promi-"
She covered her mouth, and backed back out into the hall. She needed to find somewhere to pass out out, before her mutation forced her unconscious on its own.
Her eyes fell on a nearby door. It was the room she'd occupied briefly, nearly a year ago. Neena had told her it was still open, and gave her the key. But where was the key?
She fumbled in her purse for it, and then to get the lock open, her fingers made clumsy by her degrading mental state. Finally the door swung open, and she all but fell inside. Slamming the door behind her, she leaned against it, and slid down until she sat on the floor. She concentrated as hard as possible, and forced the Liquid gem to go dormant. Her head slumped sideways, and she passed out.

Ten minutes passed before Iris entered the Infirmary again, looking as if she'd been asleep. But the blond and grey had returned to her hair and eyes, as had the look of anxiety to her face. She searched for either Flloyd or Naveed, as the the DocProf was likely with Raina.
Flloyd wavered and looked behind at Iris. He was concerned for her safety and a bit confused but she seemed to have it under control. He chased after Naveed and this doctor- he wasn't feeling too great about doctors right now- until the infirmary doors were closed in his face. He stood stumped for a minute and realized he wouldn't be allowed in. He slumped next to the wall sitting with his head in his hand. The only thing more nerve wrecking then hoping Raina was ok... was dealing with her big brother....

The scary thing for Raina at this very exact moment aside from the overwhelming darkness and pain she was experiencing- was that she was actually fully aware of what was happening to her. Dr. Che had given her some sort of anesthetic but also something to paralyze her so her body wouldn't respond to pain. He had warned her that when the surgery was over she'd find herself experiencing sleep paralysis and that she'd be fully aware but not able to speak or open her eyes. It was necessary after the shock of the surgery to keep her from tearing any stitches, straining her throat, or if the surgery didn't work- transforming.
She knew all of this from their debriefing before the surgery but what she couldn't make sense of was why she couldn't wake up yet she could still feel everything. She knew Flloyd, Naveed, and Iris were around and she felt being laid out. She felt heavier than usual. Then she heard the calming voice of Dr.Prof as he explained he'd be giving her some gas to knock her back out. She thought to herself it was about time since she felt like she was painfully stuck in mid transformation and her throat had been scraped out with a shovel.
Slowly the pain began to numb and Raina fell back into the nothingness.
Naveed raced in after Raina ahead of Flloyd following the doctor until the doctor told him he couldn't come in and slammed the door in his face. He watched his friend slump to the ground and felt himself become enraged. "Arrrgh!" he growled like a cave man and punched the chip-rock walls until his hands began to bleed. "You should have told me!" he screamed thrashing away. "You should have told me!" he screamed again throwing more energy into it. "You should have..." he slumped down across from Flloyd with his own head in his hands. "Stopped her. Talked her out of it... anything. Now what do we do? Wait for her to probably die? This is all that damn cop. I'll kill him Flloyd..." the giant was sobbing into his hands. "If Raina dies I'll kill him Flloyd. I will"
Only moments after Iris had disappeared, Neena appeared in her place. The dark-skinned teacher paused at the doorway, looked around then stalked up to the two men sitting nearby.
She caught the tail end of the big man's statement, and frowned behind her dark glasses.
"All right, what happened? Where's Raina?"
Without waiting for an answer, she blinked, and began scanning the room. She quickly spotted the transformed Raina behind the closed door, and the resident healer at her side. Satisfied for the time being, she eyed the two men once more.
"Who are you two? And where's Iris?" She didn't yell, but it was obvious she wasn't happy right at that moment.
"This is Raina's Brother, Naveed..." said Flloyd pointing to the gruff now silent man. "and I'm Flloyd, a friend." he was annoyed that another person had joined- this one with some obvious authority when he realized something wasn't happening. He became more alert and focused for a moment. He couldn't hear or see anything of what he expected to hear or see. His face became puzzled as he turned it to the woman. He concentrated. Nothing. It couldn't be possible. Everyone had fears. He ran his fingers through his hair. Maybe she was a telepath and was blocking him from seeing? "Raina's spent the last 4 months researching a newer treatment to surpress her mutation." he paused an gave a look. "we all tried to talk her out of it but it was what she wanted and it really did seem legit. But as you can probably tell by now... it wasn't."
He stared at the woman a little longer. Who was she?

Behind the door Doc. Prof had been working away on poor Raina. He couldn't imagine what it was that the previous doctor intended but fixing her tail had been much easier then getting the silicone out of her neck. He kept the breathing tube in place and watched her 'gills' flip back and forth as he work worked.
Hours went by as he got Raina back to her original state. There was no way of knowing if her mutation was affected or not but he knew at the very least she'd have no voice from all of the trauma in her throat for a little while. When things seemed finished he allowed the moisture from her body to evaporate and as he dried his hands with a towel he looked on in wonder. "Magnificent." he commented as she twisted back and forth. The anesthetic would be wore off now and she'd be coming to. "Raina. Raina. Time to wake up."
Raina could hear the voice lulling her from her sleep and into a fiery wall of pain. She tried to ignore it, she tried to run from it, but soon her heavy eyes lifted to meet the kind face of Dr.Prof.
Her throat hurt and she gurgled a bit trying to speak.
I wouldn't try to speak right now miss. Your throat has suffered a lot of trauma. If you stay silent your voice should return in a few days." He paused and looked her over. "I'm sorry to tell you that your surgery was not a success. I'm even more sorry to tell you your brute of a brother is sitting outside. But I'm happy to let you know you'll be better soon. I got a healer in here. It's better if your throat heals naturally but everything else seems up to snuff. Of course, we wont know the affects on your mutation for a while yet." he commented. "But I suggest you rest and stay in the infirmary a few days. I believe we can get your music classes postponed."
Raina felt like the biggest selfish idiot laying there. She'd done this to herself and though she felt like the victim she didn't think anyone should feel sad or sorry for her. This was all because of her feelings for Rupert. At least Flloyd was right about one thing, she needed something to get over him and this was it.
