GHOSTThe Shadow of a Past, The Dream of a Future, All We Have is Now. HISTORY - As the firstborn daughter of a celebrated US military officer, Maya constantly found herself moved from place to place. Finally her father was stationed in Tokyo, Japan, and she was able to settle in. After the loss of her mother, it seemed Maya's father had difficulty coming to terms with her mutation. But still, things seemed stable, if nothing else. After graduating from high school in Japan, Maya chose to return to the US to attend college. Unfortunately, as it had done to many so many others, the Registration Act put a damper on the young lady's plans. Because of her father's prestige, registration for her became mandatory, and upon arrival in the US, she joined hundreds of other mutants in the Registration Camps. Once the Camps were liberated, and the Registration Act overruled, Maya found herself detached from society in many ways. Had her father sent her to the Camps on purpose? Was he some how involved in her mother's disappearance? And what about her younger sister's untimely death? Currently, Maya has made several odd, to say the least, acquaintances that have led her to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. POWERS - Maya is able to control and change the quality of the air around her, up to 100 yards. This includes everything from directing someone's voice on a breeze, to creating a strong gust of wind, to changing the actual density of the air, not to mention everything in between. She is also capable of becoming like the air herself, a talent that comes in handy when dodging bullets or pushy dates. However, being light on your feet comes with a few..... problems. Like fire. Fire is a really bad thing when your body becomes almost pure oxygen. Also things have a tendency to become 'stuck' inside of her when she switches from incorporeal to corporeal. Not a pleasant feeling, to say the least. POSTS TO SEE: A Strange Awakening - Maya meets Torqueos, a young man with serious identity issues. The two develop a soft spot for each other, as they both have pasts they wish to keep secret. Their brief, yet intense, acquaintance eventually leads them to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Reconciling the Past with the Future - After several irritating phone conversations, Maya discovers that her belongings were still on campus at NYU. Not wanting to leave any clues as to her current state of existence, she sneaks in to gather a few precious items, including her mother's ihai (Buddhist mortuary tablet), her favorite kimono, and a few special photos. The Chosen Path - This is Maya's continuous room thread. Many things have happened since she's arrived at the Mansion and claimed a room, most of them confusing to say the least. Friends have come and gone, and come again, but Maya tries to be the Eternal Optimist. This is her new life, her new home. Come what may, this is the Path she has chosen. Garrett's Room - Maya makes the acquaintance of another young man, Garrett Wills, who's ability to cause pain in others has left him a bit unsure about his future. The two find they have quite a bit in common, and begin to develop a close friendship. Blinking Lights - Garrett has been healed of his involuntary seizures and has a new job, so there is only one possible way to celebrate: a trip to the Empire State Building and Times Square! After a bit of awkwardness, the two spend some time just relaxing and getting to know each other. There are a lot of confusing emotions going on inside of Maya right now, and she is glad she has a friend to share them with. But how much trust is she willing to give? Maya, aka Ghost, is an air spirit with a heart of gold that weighs heavily inside her at times. But her happy demeanor and bright personality leave their mark on anyone who comes to know her, like the noonday breeze on the leaves of the trees.
