The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He took her hand when she offered it and stood up. He looked around at the suite for a moment and just for a second thought about just bashing a window open but surely that would set off an alarm. A slight smile washed over his lips then. He went to the windows and looked inside and it seemed to be empty, for the time being atleast. His eyes flashed back over to hers for a moment and then went to a sliding door. He got down and looked at and then back at her as his smile returned.
"You know. Us being mutants just might come in handy for more than a few stares..."
He stood up then and went back over to her. A slight smile still lingering on his lips.
"This place looks empty and if I smash a window surely an alarm will go off... But there is no way in hell that that door is air tight... I mean we could find another way down... but if you want get in there itd be pretty easy... and then you could unlock it for me. Though I got to warn you. This place looks empty... so if we go in there im raiding the mini bar and takin a shower. I feel like shit and for some reason i Just feel dirty."
He took the bait. She was so glad he took the bait and he wasn't pushing her for answers. She audibly let out a breath that she hadn't realized that she was holding. She watched bemusedly as he poked and prodded the doors and windows, finally settling on a prime candidate: the sliding glass door. If she weren't tired and hungry and slightly nauseas she might have moral qualms with breaking and entering and probably stealing.
She nodded at his comments. She thought she had spied a welcome basket in there with an assortment of things to nibble on. She was convinced that if she could eat something she would feel better about all that had happened today. "I'll unlock the door for you, but for the record... I hate doors."
She breathed in and became incorporeal. She could tell that the door was sealed against water leakage, and it would be a tight squeeze. She hated not staying in her own form. It was like constant vertigo to have your body spread thin and slip through a space that naturally wasn't possible. She did it anyway. She flowed through the space where the two doors met in the middle, it was the largest space and therefore the least disorienting.
The jumble of fog piled itself on the other side of the door and slowly she became solid again, kneeling beside the door. She had the taste of pre-vomit bile in her mouth and her head told her that if she were to move, she was going to most definitely throw up. After a moment for pause she slowly reached for the lock on the door. It was a simple switch lock. She flipped the lever to allow TA inside, but otherwise remained kneeling beside the door frame breathing slowly and deliberately. Up was still up and down was still down. The cold tile under her hands made it easier to get a grip on herself.

He slid into the room after ghost unlocked the door for him. He shook his head lightly. He wished he could dod soemthing cool like that. He closed the door behind him and relocked it and then bent down behind her. He had no clue what he could say or do for her. SO he just wrapped his arms around her body and held her for a minute. As soon as he wrapped himself around her he whispered lightly into her ear.
"Thank you. After you get reoriented i'm sure we can find something in the minifridge. Not to mention that basket over there. I don't know how you feel about stealing but sometimes... if you don't... you can't go on."
He let her go and stood up slowly. His wings spreading and then settling back down on his back. He walked over to the bathroom door and looked in.
"Wow... this place is big enough I can take a shower and not get my wings wet. Which reminds me... I cant fly... but these things might make make it so we MIGHT be able to float down to the ground... or glide... whatever you wanna call it. Just tellin you incase whoever owns the room comes back... though this early in the day I highly doubt a big spender wants to be in his room."
His eyes went back to the bathroom and he slipped in and turned on the water. Disrobing he slide into the shower and sure enough his wings didnt even get touched. He spread them out and just enjoyed the feeling of it.
Half joking he called out to her, "Hey dollface if ya wanna come take a shower with me I won't mind."
He came in and slid into a hug, holding her comfortably from behind and whispering in her ear. Great. Now she had a lump in her stomach and throat on top of her dizziness.
"...I don't know how you feel about stealing but sometimes... if you don't... you can't go on."
He was being nice. Too nice. Was Goth taking a nap or something? He let her go and shuffled his wings, the reminder of how his very soul was split. He was excited about the room. Who wouldn't be? It was the nicest thing Maya had ever seen and totally rock-star or celebrity ready.
"I cant fly... but these things might make make it so we MIGHT be able to float down to the ground... or glide... whatever you wanna call it."
"I'd rather take the stairs unless you think they have cameras in there." She stood slowly, her hand on the metallic frame around the sliding glass door for support. Gliding to the ground would probably draw attention. There were cameras in the elevators or at least there are cameras in elevators in movies. She'd never done something like this - the movies were as close as she had ever gotten.
He disappeared into the bathroom marveling at the space. She was sure it was like a spa. She heard the water turn on and that was definitely her cue to move as far from the bathroom door as was mutantly possible. She ended up snatching the basket from teh entrance way and plopping down onto the king size bed.
Half joking he called out to her, "Hey dollface if ya wanna come take a shower with me I won't mind."
"In your dreams!" she shouted back. So Goth was still alive and kicking in there. She broke into the plastic covering the contents of the basket and pulled out a banana. It was mild enough that she didn't think that it would upset her stomach, but it was gone entirely too fast. She poked through the goodies for seconds. Two half-dollar sized baby swiss cheese wheels, 8 crackers, some grapes, and one last banana later she finally was feeling a little less empty. She grabbed a water bottle out of the mini bar and settled back onto the bed. It must've been made of some space age foam or something because it felt like it was hugging her every curve... much like Ontieno had earlier.
She blushed. Idiot. Why was she thinking of these things now? She settled more comfortably onto the bed and before she realized it she was rationalizing why closing her eyes was not such a bad idea after all. It was a true western style bed: her first to rest on since coming to America. Not a futon on the floor, not a dingy sack of a mattress at the camps or a couch at the Labs: a real western style bed made of heavenly space foam. She could have had her own room at the Labs, but she wasn't about to spend any more time alone locked in a box. She'd opted for dozing off in strange places where people gathered and people tended to gather around couches.
Before the water in the bathroom even stopped running she was sound asleep, her face peaceful and serene. She lay across the back of the king size bed, slightly crumpling the comforter with her weight. The basket lay half-full (or half-empty) a little ways away from her on the bed surrounded by the wrapper wreckage and banana peels of what had been her meal.

He turned the shower off and slipped out. His eyes caught the sight of the towel rack and he grabbe done off and quickly dried off. Stopping just long enough to pat his feathers where they had gotten wet. He wrapped the towel around himself and then walked out of the bathroom. Like hell if he was going to wear those robes again. As soon as he walked out a smile crossed his lips as he seen her layin there asleep on the bed. He almsot went over and laid next to her but something kept him from doing so. Instead he went to the dresser and pulled out some nice looking pants and a shirt. He looked at the shirt a minute before tearing huge holes in the back of it so his wings could fit in comfortably. He found a decent jacket he could also put over his wings and did so. He let them completely hide them.
His gaze went back to the sleeping form of Ghost. While she was out he decided to rummage through the drawers. At the bedside he found what he was looking for. Money. The big spender hadnt taken it all with him so he quickly pushed all of it into his pocket. Like it would hurt whoever owned this room.
After finding what he was looking for he went to the bed and sat down next to her. He rummaged through the basket and grabbed out a few different items and ate them almost as fast as the hot dog earlier. Then with one last look to the sleeping Ghost he went to the door and opened it. He stepped outside and closed the door until just a crack was left open. He sat his back against the wall and crossed his arms. He would stand here until either she awoke or the owner returned to the room.
She heard rummaging, but she was stuck in that place between wakefulness and sleep. She lay perfectly still for half an hour at least before the dreams began.
She was talking to Neena and Neena wasn't very happy. She removed her sunglasses to look Maya in the eye, but having never seen Neena's "freaky eyes" Maya's mind filled in the blank. Instead of normal eyes, Neena had mouths where her eyes would be. She acted normally, chatting about powers and mutants. Only she wasn't hearing exactly what was being said. The conversation was illusive like she just couldn't focus on it. Maya's mind began to delve into her fears.
"Isn't he dangerous?" Ghost had a hard time deciding which mouth to look at as all three spoke at once. She answered, but couldn't understand her own answer. "That makes you both dangerous. We can't keep dangerous mutants in our Mansion." Maya shifted in her seat and her body shifted in the bed. "You're responsible for this now. It's your mess." She sounded reasonable and authoritative. "He made you promise not to tell, but I think you should know that you're in danger." Neena went on. "You should wake up."
Ghost opened her eyes to an unfamiliar ceiling. She had been waking to unfamiliar ceilings for weeks and it did not entirely surprise her. She sat up slowly, scrubbing her eyes as she did so. It was dark in the room. What was going on again? Her dream faded, though she tried to grasp onto the details, but it slipped through the cracks of her consciousness like sand and she was left with only an uneasy feeling.
She looked around at her posh, yet strangely uniform surroundings. Breaking and entering a hotel suite. Right! Man! How long was she out? She hopped quickly off the bed and looked around. Where was wing boy? Did he leave her alone to take the fall for their little misdemeanor? She panicked.
"O... Otieno?" She checked the bathroom and all the other rooms, a hint of anxiety in her voice. Her heart was fluttering in her chest like a trapped bird.

He heard her voice and she didn't sound to good. He slid the door open and slipped in. He watched her as she searched the room. He closed the door behind him and then cleared his voice.
"You ok? Did you lose something?" He'd pretend like he hadn't heard her calling out in that voice. It was the first time he had heard her sound like that and part of him hoped itd be the last. Yet at the same time he suddenly got a craving to make her sound even worse then that. Make her scream. He shook his head and forced the thought down.
"I figured I'd let you sleep for a little while before we took off. I was just standing watch over the door so we wouldn't get caught off gaurd."
His eyes looked her over. He knew she was uncomfortable maybe. Not with what was going on now but he hadn't just dropped her not answering him. She obviously didn't want to so he wouldn't force her to. Even though it concerned him it was still her choice to speak of what she saw or what happened.
He tore his eyes from her and went into the bathroom and collected the robes and shoved them into the bag he always carried that contained another set of strange clothes.
"Before we leave do you want to raid the fridge and take what we can find? I have enough room in my bag.", he walked out of the bathroom as he finished with his question and statement and just looked into her eyes once more.
She heard the door and a clearing of the throat and she spun on her heel to face him. He... didn't leave?
"You ok? Did you lose something?"
"I.. uhhh..." She fumbled around lamely for an excuse, "I didn't mean to fall asleep." She looked quickly around the room. She hadn't brought anything, but it felt strange to leave a hotel room empty handed. "Nice clothes." She commented absently.
"I figured I'd let you sleep for a little while before we took off. I was just standing watch over the door so we wouldn't get caught off gaurd."
"Standing watch... right." She fumbled with this or that while he collected his things. She downed the last of her water bottle.
"Before we leave do you want to raid the fridge and take what we can find? I have enough room in my bag.", he walked out of the bathroom as he finished with his question and statement and just looked into her eyes once more.
"Where are we goi...?" She was distracted by his gaze. His eyes were still blue. Had all of their eyes been blue? She couldn't remember. "ah." She had to keep herself on track.
"I guess we should take what we might need." She answered his latest question finally. She dashed to the minibar and grabbed the non-alcoholic drinks from the fridge and loaded them into his bag. She wouldn't dare to strip his inhibitions. She checked the basket on the bed. It was nearly empty, nothing really worth taking there.
"Do you know where are we going?" She shut the minifrige and stood ashamed of the fact that she had doubted him. She was so sure that he had left, and yet here was was. She went straight for the door, eager to get out of the room. The fact that she had made them spend so long made her nervous that someone knew that they were there.

He watched her as she loaded his bag full of things they would need. He noticed she didn't touch any of the alcohol so after she moved away from the fridge he walked over and reopened it and took af ew bottles out and placed them in his pockets. He looked at her and smiled as he shut the fridge and opened one.
"Spent the last two years in Ireland. Can't be goin around denyin an irishman his drink can ya?", a look of complete innocence and a bit of lower lip poked out to persuade her.
Before she could answer he lifted the bottle to his lips and drained it. A slight frown came over his face and he just tossed the bottle on the bed. Whos ever room this was would know someone was here. Especially after they had the cameras checked and seen a man standing infront of the door for hours.
he listened to her ask, "Do you know where are we going?"
"How should I know. I just woke up in this town a few minutes before I met you. I've never been here before nor do I know where we are now. You brought us this far, so I assume. I figured I'd let you lead and make sure nothing happens to you on the way."
As the last part left his mouth a slight twist made him smile, "I mean I gotta protect you dollface. Otherwise I'd have nothin decent to look at..."
The smile quickly faded and before he could even let himself figure out why he had said that he tried to fix any damage he might have done.
"I meant I wouldn't have anyone to talk to besides maybe myself"
He couldnt help but thinking on how Unsmooth that had to have sounded. It didnt matter he grabbed his bag and walked over towards the door. Maybe if he distracted her mind she wouldnt get a chance to reply to his stupid remarks and by the time she had time then she would have forgotten... maybe...
"Now. In the past few years Ive watched a few movies and if this is the penthouse sweet that you said it was... then one of those doors down there should lead to an elevator... But there has to be a door leading to stairs incase of a fire. Im thinking they most likely have fire alarms on it or at the least cameras. My suggestion is we just take the elevator and make it appear as if we had all the right in the world to be here. If you look like you belong then most the time you do. Less likely to be stopped..."
Hopefully she would buy into that garbage. He was just pulling things from the air now. Half to distract her and half to make her feel more comfortable. If she thought he had a plan of some sort then she wouldn't feel as nervous as he did.
Even though he may look as if he belonged in his expensive shirt and shoes, she was sure that she, in her blue jeans with legs an inch or so too long and "happy hippos" tee shirt, didn't look the least bit like a rock star.
She fumbled around in her pocket for a moment, a few crumpled dollar bills fell out as she found what she was looking for: she smoothed the piece of paper between her fingers. It was the address and bus stop for the mansion. The people at the Labs had sent her on her way with enough fare initially to go to the mansion. Some subconscious fear echoed in her mind. She hadn't gone there initially. But they should go there now... right?
"Right." She agreed with his bull. It was just as good as anything else she could think of with her mind going in all directions as it was. She hadn't appreciated the drinking, in fact she considered trying to ferret the other can from his pocket, but she was afraid of how he would react. "I wasn't looking forward to taking a gazillion stairs down anyway."
She stepped out into the hall, her nerves firing rapidly. Every fiber of her being knew that they were being bad. She felt like they could be caught at any second and she just couldn't calm down. She wasn't so good at breaking the rules.

After watching how nervously she moved he just shook his head. He bent down and picked up the few bills that had spilled from her pocket and plcaed them in his own for now. He'd give it back but first thing was first.
"Maybe you should have drank the liquid courage. Seriously it'll be fine. If we go out and your all shaky then someone might notice. Just loosen up alright."
She might not have been good at breaking rules but for someone that strongly believed that human rules weren't for himself it didn't bother him one bit. He walked over to her and placed his arm around her. Before she could protest he spoke lightly to her.
"I seen you give yourself a once over. I know your not and you no you arent. But when we get downstairs they will see a gentleman in nice clothing with his arms around someone not so dressed up. They will assume you are something you are not. Do not let it phase you. Let them think what they want. When we go to the elevator if someone steps off while we are getting on just follow my lead. I can bullshit with the best of em, Ghost."
He smiled lightly to her once again. His eyes watched hers for a moment to make sure she understood. Then he moved forward. He walked straight up to the elevetor and pressed the button. While he waited on it to come up he put his arm back around her and moved his head toward hers. If the doors opened then if anyone was on the inside it would appear they were just a couple of foolish people making out. Instead he whispered lightly, "Look past me and if anyone is in there then lean forward and let your nose touch mine. If not just walk into it. I cant see behind me so I want you to be my eyes."
She swallowed. At this point she just had to trust him. She rolled her shoulders under his arm. "Maya." She pointedly looked at the reflective doors of the elevator, not at his face which was a little too close to her own for her comfort. "We've gotten this far, you may as well know my name." She shifted a little nervously waiting for the elevator to reach the top floor.
*DING* She saw movement and leaned forward quickly, bumping her nose against his and she waited. She didn't hear anything. She peeked around his shoulder since she was too short to see over it. The elevator stood empty and the gleaming reflective inside mirrored her anxious face peeking around his shoulder. She tried to smooth out her features. It had just been the door opening to the empty elevator. Oops again.
She pulled him into the little metal box. "Sorry." She mumbled, making a point to look at the pattern of carpet on the floor.

If it werent for the fact that they were that close and he had to swallow before he could react he might have made a fool of himself. When her nose touched he started to put his arms straight forward. He was going to open his wings... which would push his jacket right off of him. It would ahve been a distraction of course. If she had waited a half sec more to pull him into the box he woulda liked like a fool.
As she pulled him in he half said half choked out, "Thats a pretty name."
He pushed the button for the bottom floor and then moved back next to her in the metal box. He didn't like how stuffy it was in there. She had already suggested at how much she liked buildings let alone something this cramped. He just stood there and slid his hand back into her own. He squeezed lightly and mumbled again.
"It'll be a quick ride. Before you know it we'll be out of here."
((OOC: Sorry I passed out waitin for your reply. Lol))
He was holding her hand. It was like the nerves were hyper sensitive to every point where they touched. She could tell that she wanted to trust him... that she was learning to trust him. But she shouldn't. He was being entirely too... nice. She wasn't sure what to expect from him.
"It'll be a quick ride. Before you know it we'll be out of here."
She nodded her head, still examining the strange floral theme on the floor. The elevator didn't stop. She felt kind of nervous alone with him, but it seemed that rock stars got their own personal elevators. She was a little glad to not be crammed in with who knows how many other people and who knows how many other stops. Instead their little shiney box went straight down to the ground level floor and announced their arrival with a *DING!*
Thankfully it was late. The hotel seemed to be running on minimal staff. But it wasn't late enough that whoever had the room was ready to come home yet to crash or... do whatever rockstars and celebrities do at night. She clung to him like white on rice. All they had to do was get out the door before someone realized they had exited from the private elevator.
It was a rather large marble entry way ending in glass and metal doors. Outside lay a rather busy street bustling with nightlife activity... and freedom.

When the doors opened he held her hand and kept her close to himself as he walked out. He put a bit of a sway into his step so that he appeared a bit more then drunk. He seen a rather bigger man walking over towards them. He spoke out towards the man.
"Scuse me. Im not from town and my brother got the pent house sweet and me and my girlfriend here were going to go for a walk and to get something to eat. Got any suggestions?"
The man looked at him once and then nodded his head and started to tell him of a few different places. Told them where not to walk near and where the really good places where.
"Thank you. If you don't mind. Could you send a maid up to the sweet. The place needs cleaned."
"Sure thing." was all the reply he got in return. He smiled at Maya as he headed with her towards the door.
"Told you. Make it look like you belong and give reasons before your accused and most of the time they let it drop."
