Character's real name: Soma Cruze
Alias: Aegis
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Nationality/Ethnicity: Born in Boston, Massachusetts. He has a slightly tanned complexion. He doesn’t know his actual origin, since he was separated from his parents at a young age.
Birthplace: Middlesex near London.
Description of ability/ies: Soma has a natural defence system, called the ‘aegis’. When a harmful object would come towards him, inanimate matter and/or objects around him will move in the way to prevent the source of harm.
- Soma’s aegis is separate to his conscious, so he has no influence on its actins.
- Soma may one day learn to synchronise and interact with his power, relaxing or directing its efforts, but he currently has no idea of this possibility.
- The aegis will only move inanimate matter. Anything living won’t be moved directly by the aegis.
- The power is potentially very rather destructive, tearing, breaking and moving anything inanimate to fulfil its duty. For instance, if Soma were in a corridor with no loose objects in it, and a threat were coming towards him, the corridor would forcibly collapse in order to put something between Soma and the threat.
Cons (weaknesses) of ability/ies:
- Since the aegis is beyond Soma’s control, it makes it rather difficult for Soma to form any kind of close relationship with anyone else. This is what makes him an unfortunately lonely guy.
- The aegis has its limits. It’s not infinitely fast, nor infinitely strong.
- It has high enough durability to stop a high-explosive round. Elemental attacks (water, fire, gas – electricity is less of a problem; it can be grounded) can much more easily bypass Soma’s defences, and he has no resistance to telepathy at all.
- It can move matter at about 600m/s. That’s faster than handguns and most modern rifles fired at about 50m away. Weapons fired at closer range, or with specifically higher power/smaller calibre (such as sniper rifles), will be faster than the aegis.
Personality: Soma is hard to approach. He finds it hard to trust other people and isn’t good at making friends. He may come across to others as rather sour. He is very independent and self-sufficient, as you expect of someone who is used to being alone. Additionally, he has a very calm, almost lazy attitude towards life. He knows that he can be cocky and push his luck, because he has a rather good bodyguard protecting him from would-be consequences.
Notes (Hobbies, Phobias, Worries, ect.): He fears personal intrusion. Because he’s used to being alone, with no-one around
Allegiance (Good, Bad, or Neutral): Neutral.
Everyday clothing: Pale green cargo trousers, white sleeveless shirt and a thin chain necklace. His hands and forearms are wrapped in cloth.

Eye colour: Brown.
Height: 5’10
Build: Slim, fit & healthy

Fighting style (if any): Mostly passive. He will brawl if necessary, but really, nothing should get close enough for it to matter.
History of your character: From the age of six, Soma’s parents began to notice strange things happening to their small child. Tables would swing wildly out of the way if he would trip towards its sharp corners; cushions would fling themselves into his path before he would impact with the ground; at school, tiles would uproot themselves to defend him from the other children that would spite him for being so different. It was very evident that Soma was a mutant. Scared for what would happen if anyone found out that their child was a freak, his parents took him out of normal school and sent him away to a special school in Los Angeles. He wound up on a plane destined for Los Angeles, which became the victim of a terrorist attack. The plane was sent crashing into a skyscraper in New York and everyone on the plane died instantly. Well, everyone except Soma, of course. Sheets of metal from the plane had wrapped themselves into a globe around Soma and protected him from the crash. Soma eventually escaped the crash site and has been living on the streets of New York since until a couple of years ago, when he met a man calling himself Zed. Zed was able to suppress Soma’s powers when they were together. Zed offered Soma work as his apprentice, and Soma gladly accepted, finally having someone who would talk to him and not make him feel rejected. However, Zed was caught by a mutant organisation and killed. Soma has vowed that he will avenge Zed’s death.
Sample RP: Soma sighed as he stood on the rooftop, allowing the wind to dance playfully with his dark mop of hair. The setting sun stained the evening sky a deep crimson and Soma smiled; it would be a calm night tonight.
Zed was in need of a certain part for his latest project. Some sort of worky bit; Soma wasn’t quite sure what it was meant to do. But, he had been shown what it looked like, and he’d been instructed to go and get one. Zed’s directions had taken him to the roof of this large house. He quickly found a skylight, as he’d been expecting he’d been expecting, withdrew a can opener-like device from the bag slung over his back and fitted it to the ledge of the skylight. Soma punched in some buttons on the can opener-like tool in the order he’d been taught, then proceeded to use it to ease open the window and look in. He found himself peering into a spacious attic. He dropped in silently and made his way over to a flat box on the wall. Opening it, his pulse quickened a pinch as he realised that it was only the heating control centre. Oh well, he sighed. With any luck, he’d still be able to make a connection to the security. All the rich people tended these days to have some sort of all-purpose-home-pampering system connecting all the house’s electrical systems. Soma twisted the head of Zed’s can opener until a number of metal parts were protruding. He chose and extended one of them, plugging it into the side of the box in the attic. Again, Soma punched in a few keys, though this time, the can opener began humming and whirring softly, as Zed would so often do when he was trying to concentrate. Soma crouched patiently, watching the door, until the whirring subsided, and a small green LED on the side of the can opener sparked into life, flashing erratically as if urgent to tell Soma that it had finished. What a handy piece of kit, Soma mused. Why hadn’t Zed thought to invent this before? It surely made Soma’s job far easier – or was it just that he had finally found a job that he could actually be good at? Well, this was no time to ponder such things. He disconnected the can opener, put it carefully back in his bag and made his way to the door of the attic. Holding his breath, Soma pushed the door ajar, tentatively testing the household security, but he heard no sound other than the thumping of his heart. Soma felt relief slide out of him. The hard part was done. All that remained was to find Zed’s whatnot and leave.
