The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The ride to the Labs is uneventful, though Sonya has to admit that having a strange mutant in her car is never precisely boring, no matter what. Especially one who claims to have the powers of a goddess, though Sonya is somewhat skeptical about that claim… especially since the woman hasn’t actually done anything.
Not my problem, though. She says she’s Order; that makes her Syn’s charge. She leaves a message on Syn’s voicemail as they drive, telling her to expect a delivery, and otherwise drives in relative silence.
Traffic isn’t too bad at this hour, and they find themselves in the Labs’ main lobby well before noon. "Syn should be here pretty soon," she mentions casually, and curls up comfortably in one of the chairs.
The ride was certainly not normal. It was kind of awkward sitting in a car with a person who's promising help, wants to know your secrets, could be an agent for the government, quite unknown to you, and not exactly what she seems. Eris took it all in with a grain of salt, watching her back the whole way. While the camps couldn't be as bad as the torture she had endured under Menace, they were probably still pretty horrible. She didn't really want to go through that again.
After the car pulled up to the labs, Eris felt a wave of relief wash over her. She had heard that Syn was now in charge of the Order. While she didn't exactly relish the idea of working under a woman who she had at one time considered annoying and immature, she also realized that she really didn't have a choice here. None whatsoever actually. And who knows, time changes people, and Syn could truly be a different individual now... or at least a little more grown up. Then again, Eris herself was pretty young back then, at least in spirit.
She scolded herself for even remembering it. She would let bygones be bygones, if Syn would. Will she even recognize me? I have different hair, a different outfit, and months of torture has probably left me more scratched up than before too. If she doesn't, I guess I'll just remind her. Gently. She smiled, as only she could, in Teresa's general direction as they enetered the labs lobby.
"Good." was her only reply to Teresa, as she headed for a nearby chair and took a seat. Crossing one leg over the other, she waited for Syn to arrive. Oh how times flies when we're having fun...
OOC: Syn, you can either recognize Eris or not... not a big deal either way. She has changed a lot physically, but you probably have about a 40% chance naturally of recognizing her. It's totally up to you. Oh boy... this reunion is going to be fun.
The cell phone in Syn's pocket buzzes to life as it recieve's the message from Teresa/Sonya. a delivery is on it's way? The girl wonders what her spy has found. With her interest piqued Syn made her way to meet up with Tersa/Sonya.
Stepping into the main entrance area Syn immediately scanned for her informant. When she spotted Teresa/Sonya the girl made her way over. While approaching her clever spy Syn noticed another woman. She couldn't quite place her but there was something familiar about the female. "So what's this delivery you mentioned Teresa?"
Sonya makes no attempt to conceal her observation of Katran as the two sit in the hallway… she’s frankly curious about this self-styled goddess. Judging from how the woman reacts to the various events in the hall, Sonya concludes that she has no special sensory capabilities – she herself seems to notice people approaching sooner than Katran does – so she assumes the woman’s abilities are restricted to the physical.
One such arrival is Syn, who approaches them promptly upon arrival but doesn’t seem to recognize Katran.
> "So what's this delivery you mentioned Teresa?"
So, Syn doesn’t recognize her… interesting. She doesn’t actually get up from her chair, but she folds her legs under her in a way that will let her spring out of the way if things get hostile. "Well, she claims to be a member of our little club from back in the day… " she replies, gesturing vaguely in Katran’s direction, "…but maybe she had better introduce herself."
Eris observed Teresa while they waited, much more important than paying attention to others who walked past. She kept getting the idea that there was something different about her. She obviously was a mutant, and she obviously hadn't told Eris her power yet. Strange, but logical, seeing how in this kind of setting having someone else understand your powers could be dangerous. She decided she would have to do more digging later. If she got time.
She guessed, just by the look of her, that the girl's power wasn't necessarily physical. It was likely some sort of of manipulation or creation feat. That was her guess. Eris honestly looked at the situation and figured, I could take her if I had to... she might give me a run for my money, but I'd take her down. If I had to...
While this pleasant thought came to her head, she simply smiled Teresa's way and waited for something to happen. It did. A few moments later, in walked the lady herself. Here we go... She waited while Teresa and Syn had a twenty second conversation, and then Teresa handed the ball off to Eris. It was in her court now.
Syn looked good. A little too good in Eris mind. She certainly looked like she had acquired command of a lrage body of mutants, ready to weild them at any moment to gain what she wanted. Perhaps just like Dorian had. Even so, Eris didn't like the girl. But she kept that fact a secret, as she smiled smuggly and somewhat even politely, and stood to face the girl.
Withholding her hand may have been the first sign of dislike. Eris held back and look at her, struggling up a reply. Here she had a choice, she could tell Syn the truth about her being Eris, or she could play up the whole Katran angle. She hadn't told Teresa about her codename, Katran was all she was known by, maybe she could use that and get farther in without confrontation. On the other hand, total deception could lead to problems later on, and she didn't really want that. She needed to be upfront here. So she was.
"Syn." She nodded in recognition, arms at her side. "You may not remember me. My name is Katran, but you would remember me as a woman named Eris. You may remember I disapeered strangely in the Haywire raid." She sighed here and then continued, "Honestly, we didn't like each other back then, and maybe not even now. As you can see, I've had to alter some things to keep my identity hidden." She waited for Syn to reply.
With Teresa/Sonya directing Syn's attention to the other woman sitting down the girl took yet another look. She was sure there was something familiar about the second female. Sure enough as Syn listened to the woman she realized who she was. This person was Eris. That name took Syn back to a little confrontation in the foyer.
Syn smiled at Eris. "I do remember you now that I hear your name. I knew there was something about you that was tugging at my memories." Syn shook her head slightly with a soft giggle. "Things were different then and I have changed. That's mostly due to my position however. I'm willing to let the past stay in the past if you are. We need all the members and new recruits we can gather right now for both current times and for after we bust our friends out of the camps." pausing for a momnt to gauge Eris Syn continued. "So what do you say?"
Eris chuckled a little when Syn finally recognized her. It was interesting how much a little makeover like she had undergone could do, and even though the change hadn't been too drastic, it had been enough to cover her tracks from Syn. Hopefully she would be able to fool other people as well. Sure, she may be a little familiar, but there was a striking difference between familiar and recognizable. Course, losing the red dress had probably been the biggest change.
Syn's giggle was actually upsetting. If Eris remembered correctly, this was not the Syn of the past. A giggle?? P-lease. She nodded and simply looked her way as she talked about letting bygones be bygones. The camp breakout was news to her, so she listened attentively when Syn spoke those words.
She stepped back a step or two then turned her head to one side, a typical Eris pose. "Sure, I'm willing to forget it to. Thanks for being willing to take me onboard, I'd be thrilled to join the group once again." She gave her slick smile another round for the group present, turning her head slightly to take in the lab. It was different than what she had imagined, colder.
"So, anything I need to do, to sign into this place? I'd like to continue to live off campus if possible, my mansion is a pretty safe place, and probably a lot more comfortable."
This wasn't the same Eris that's for sure. Syn would still keep an eye on her however. She didn't forget the little exchange back at Sanctuary, but with the woman's acceptance of moving passed the past Syn continued on. "If you think you're better off at your place than here be my guest. I only require you keep in contact with myself or Abyss. That way we know what's going on and information can be passed on."
Looking over to Teresa/Sonya Syn smiled. "How have things been going for you other than finding old friends of mine?"
Eris chuckled slightly at this confrontation with Syn. She walked to one side of the room and stared at some bulletin board on the wall. Nothing really of interest, she just didn't want to have a straight up 'stare into each others eyes' conversation. She'd talk with her back turned.
She was certainly relieved to be able to stay home, yet have free roam on the labs. It was her new playground now, a place to learn, discover, record. Plus, if she could stay home in the mornings, she wouldn't have to reveal her state of constant sickness then. It had been more than two months now, and still the sickness persisted. Eris' theory was the most likely solution, but she was too scared to check if she was right. She would know soon enough, she just didn't want others to know before her.
"Thanks Syn. I appreciate all this. I really do. Ever since I disapeered at Haywire, you've probably wondering what happened to me. Strangely enough, I was kidnapped by a psycho, and later he let me go. Now I'm trying to move on and forget the past, I wish my powers helped me erase it honestly." She paused and turned around, this time her back wasn't turned, "What have you been up to, and how did you gain control of the Order?"
(( OOC: Sorry I’ve been gone so long… RL is beating me up, and it isn’t done with me yet. Dropping off thread so as to not delay y’all further)
> "How have things been going for you other than finding old friends of mine?"
Sonya/Teresa shrugs. "Got my own place, finally; I’ll text you the address in case you ever need it. Not fancy, but at least it’s mine." She decides not to mention the details of her strange altercation with Calley and Slate, leaving it at "Sharing the space with tiger-boy stopped working for me, really."
She gets up gracefully from her seat and pours herself a cup of coffee. "Other than that, usual drill… making contact with free-range mutants, gathering info where I can. Which reminds me, learned a few things I ought to report to you when you have a moment." She has no intention of talking about Hunter’s longevity in front of Katran, or within the Labs for that matter – too much chance of being eavesdropped on – but by now they’ve worked the kinks out of her reporting strategy and she’ll provide the information later.
Come to think of it, she should probably also let Syn know about her new physical abilities… they’re bound to come out sooner or later, and it would be awkward if her new boss got the idea she was keeping secrets.
(( OOC: Syn – go ahead and assume Sonya reports both of those facts off-camera ))
"In the meantime, I really ought to get going… traffic was a bit more obnoxious than I’d planned for; I’m running late for a meeting with my new landlady. Glad you two are getting along… talk to y’all later!" With a cheery, albeit insincere, wave she finishes her coffee, tosses the cup away, and heads for the door.
