aka. Unicorn at the Library (This takes place before Sebastian meets Hunter at the Church of Humanity in End Game. I wanted to fill in a gap in that story, but if anyone wants to jump in and RP, I'm all for one or two people joining.) Sebastian leaned back from the screen and rubbed his eyes. They were tingling with cold, healing them from the strain he was putting them through by reading article after article on microfilm. He had been at the New York City Public Library for hours trying to figure out the Church of Humanity. He had studied a lot of religions in his time, but never had found one so entirely centered around hate. True, other religions had been zealous,, fanatical, and even murderous, but usually they had some aspect of goodness or morals. Sebastian wasn’t finding it in this Church. He was finding that the Church of Humanity had recently spent a lot of time and effort in influencing prominent political leaders to vote for the Mutant Registration Act. The Church had more lobbyists, it seemed, than the Romans had soldiers. To himself Sebastian wondered what the vote would have been without their influence. Did the politicians hate mutants too, or were they merely buckling to the pressure of lobbyists, convinced it was in the interests of the constituents? Sebastian couldn’t remember what the rules were for changing laws in the United States, so he refreshed himself on the constitution as long as he was at the library. To him it seemed that the only way to revoke the law would be for the Supreme Court to find the law unconstitutional, but then again, there wasn’t much in the constitution about mutant rights, only human rights. Depending on the judges, they might not even consider mutants to be deserving of human rights. Finally, he combed the papers for any mention of a certain immortal he had been meaning to look up. He was less easy to track through newspapers, since his name wasn’t usually mentioned in the articles in which he appeared. Sebastian searched for mysterious murders without motive. It was sometimes lonely to be immortal, and Sebastian had been curious to meet another like himself. Even if he was very different from himself, Sebastian was curious to meet him. After hours of searching, Sebastian decided that he should visit the Church of Humanity himself, to see what it was really all about.
