The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Vibe looked disoriented a bit but Gearhead was polite enough not to say anything. Gearhead didn't miss the looks Vibe was giving her, though it didn't bother her in the least. She was curious what was going through Vibe's head along with the looks. "Nice to meet ya Vibe." She looked at Vibe then to Abyss, then back to Vibe. "You're a cutie. Are you two together?" The compliment and question were both said very innocently with a curious tone. With no knowlege of what happened in the void, she thought maybe they were close.
"...no offense intended I simply am not privy to your work."
Gearhead shook her head, "None taken. Quite understandable. You said vibrations, would I be correct in assuming that's your ability Vibe?" She watched as Vibe motioned to her throat, which got TJ to raise a curious eyebrow. She also noticed Abyss seemed..a bit tired? No, that wasn't the right word. Drained? Closer...maybe. She didn't know anything about the void and the clones, so when she reached to the side of her chair and a small pannel opened up, she didn't know that what Abyss was feeling was mostly in his mind and not his body. Grabbing a small injector that didn't use a needle she handed it to Abyss. "That should help ya if you're feeling tired or drained."
Looking back to Vibe, she reached into another part of the pannel and pulled out two gloves and put them on before standing up. She was taller than Vibe by some inches but much shorter than Abyss. Gearhead reached up with her right hand towards Vibe's neck. Vibe pulled back away from Gearhead a bit. "I won't be able to help you if you run away Vibe. Don't worry I'm just..check..ing..." Gearhead looked around as she felt, something in the air, like someone had a bass speaker on really loud down the hall and the vibrations were reaching her. TJ's face went from 'WTF?' look to surprise and then to curiosity before she looked back at Vibe.
Using her hands she signed to Vibe as she spoke, "Is that you doing that?" When Vibe nodded she smiled. "That's pretty cool." She had a smile on her face as she spoke and signed, not sure it signing would actually help, it was worth a shot since a lot of mute people use sign language. "I just need to get your pulse and check your throat." Vibe gave what TJ took as a reluctant 'okay' and placed her left hand on Vibe's right wrist feeling her pulse as he touched her right hand to the girl's throat. She gently felt around and raised her eyebrow. She had vibe swallow before sitting down again. "No voicebox. Sorry if that made you uncofortable. I didn't know if you had hurt your throat or something similar."
Throwing the gloves away she moved her chair towards her lab with one push off the floor. "Follow me and I'll see what I can do for ya."

Okay, Vibe had to admit, she was a tad weired out. This 'Doctor' had waaaaaaayyy too much energy. She was like.... the Energizer Bunny meets Starbucks. Totally twitchy....
"You're a cutie. Are you two together?"
" I dunno are we together, sugar?"
Dr. J's question momentarily threw her off, yet again. Abyss's question restored her balance.
"Sorry, Vibe The voices in my head are putting me up to stuff again."
>Uh huh, and I can guess which voice, too.< she thought. She smirked back and raised one eyebrow, and held up two fingers, as if to say, 'That's two strikes'.
And then Dr. J was in her space again. She leaned backward as the woman reached for her neck, giving her an 'Excuse me? Are you crazy?' look. Unconsciously she began projecting vibrations that, usually, Amp would have amped up into a feedback-type squeal.
"I won't be able to help you if you run away Vibe. Don't worry I'm just..check..ing..." The violet-haired woman paused and looked around, and Vibe realized what she was doing. No doubt Dr. J felt like she needed to pop her ears.
Then came another surprise when the woman began signing to her. She was the second person to use sign language in two days. She frowned a bit and nodded in answer to the question.
"I just need to get your pulse and check your throat."
Vibe shrugged. She wasn't necessarily annoyed with Dr. J; she was annoyed with life at the moment, and the woman just happened to be the nearest one to take it out on.
"No voicebox. Sorry if that made you uncofortable. I didn't know if you had hurt your throat or something similar."
Vibe crossed her arms and looked away, still feeling off-balanced and awkward.
"Follow me and I'll see what I can do for ya." The woman sat back in her chair and rolled towards the lab with one push off the floor.
Before following, Vibe glanced back at Abyss, just in time to see him yawn. It was a bit selfish on her part, but she hoped he would stay, at least a while longer. Twitchy there was making her nervous....
When the trio entered her lab Gearhead made part of the wall sink back to reveal a rather large marble slab. "Abyss, if you'd like you can sit there. Probably not the most comfortable, but it works for me...since I don't sleep anyways." TJ chuckled at her self. Sleeping and dreaming, things she missed and enjoyed once in her life, now fleeting memories. Taking another look at Abyss, "That shot probably won't give you the 'pick me up' it would others...you're a rather large guy. But it'll at least help replenish the neutrients your body needs." The small 'wall' near TJ's desk slid into the ground as the woman rolled her chair towards the desk and grabbed her labcoat that was hanging up. Tossing it to Abyss as she rolled away from her desk and the wall came back up. "Use that if you'd like."
Spinning in place for a moment, Gearhead kicked off the ground and slid over to a work table. "Vibe, Abyss said something about a translator, if I remember correctly. When I went to check your throat...you did something, and going by your name, which I'm sure isn't you're actual name, it has something to with vibrations and/or sound." Gearhead kept talking while she went through a few drawers looking for a headset. When she found it she put it on. Over one eye, looked to be a sort of screen, while the other seemed to be a small box-like thing. After interfacing with the headset, the screen came to life with a real time image of Vibe, that was partially see through. TJ looked up slightly then focused on the screen. Talking more to herself, "I guess that sounded like I was digging..." Pursing her lips, "Don't worry Vibe, it doesn't matter to me what you're real name is, it's not my business. You can go ahead and sign if it'll help you communicate," TJ spun around to look at Vibe and pointed to the screen on the headset, "I can see you just fine." If Vibe or Abyss tried, they'd be hard pressed to find the many multiple cameras built into the walls and ceiling.
"I guess I should ask: How do you control your ability?" Gearhead still had a slight smile on her face, but her eyes showed she was both curious and serious, as well as her random twiches had stopped."With this translater, whatever it was, did you just think of what you wanted to say, or did you have to spell every word out? Or was it something inbetween?"

Vibe was glad Abyss would be nearby, even if he did decide to doze off. She watched Dr. J as she moved around the lab, and walls began appearing and disappearing. Vibe blinked at the comment about no sleeping; that explained a few things....
"Vibe, Abyss said something about a translator, if I remember correctly." She turned her attention back to the woman. "When I went to check your throat...you did something, and going by your name, which I'm sure isn't you're actual name, it has something to with vibrations and/or sound." Vibe raised one eyebrow. "I guess that sounded like I was digging..."
>Mmm hmm, just a bit....<
"Don't worry Vibe, it doesn't matter to me what you're real name is, it's not my business."
>You're right. It's not.<
"You can go ahead and sign if it'll help you communicate. I can see you just fine."
Vibe crossed one arm over her chest, rested her other elbow on her arm, and rested her chin in her hand. The twitching was gone, but Dr. J still seemed hyped up on something. Maybe it was just the lack of sleep, but Vibe found it odd nonetheless, and wasn't sure how to take it....
"I guess I should ask: How do you control your ability? With this translater, whatever it was, did you just think of what you wanted to say, or did you have to spell every word out? Or was it something inbetween?"
Vibe blinked. Hmm.... come to think of it, she never gave it much thought. She knew she and Amp weren't telepathic, so 'just thinking about it' didn't apply. She didn't think it was Morse Code they used; she certainly didn't stand there and mentally spell everything out to her sister. But then again, whatever it was they did, they'd been doing it for eighteen years. This was just a quick-fix until that bond was restored. There was no need for any in-depth analyzations.
Thus she signed, 'I create sound waves. Hands and feet. Morse Code is fine,' and left it at that.

Gearhead was a bit confused with Vibe and Abyss, his question about them being together and Vibe's reaction to it. While she wanted to ask what it all meant, she figured it was a private matter and left it alone. Abyss took her offer to sit on the slab as well as her coat. After which Gearhead basically put him out of her mind since he wansn't the one here for help, and she was more curious with Vibe.
"I create sound waves. Hands and feet. Morse Code is fine."
TJ shook her head and sighed. "Morse Code is so OOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLD. And boring." Turning her chair, TJ pushed herself slowly over to the far corner of the lab and motioned for Vibe to follow. Once there, she opened one of the cabinant doors and pulled out what looked like a paper scanner, hooking it up to a small rectangular metal box on the cabinant. "I need you to put your hand inside like so," Gearhead put her hand inside flat, palm down, with fingers spread out, "And when I say so, I'll need you to 'say' what comes up on the screen here." She pointed to a 16in screen near the 'scanner'.
Moving near the center of the room, Gearhead leaned back in her chair and let a small foot rest extend, putting her into a nearly horizontal position. Looking up a screen came down from the ceiling nearly three feet and angled its self at Gearhead. Rapidly she pressed a series of buttons the arms of her chair. The small rectangular box and scanner hummed to life, as did the screen near the scanner. The screen above TJ waited with a nearly black screen with bits of writing at the top and sides, a series of charts ran along the right side of the screen.
Without looking at Vibe, "It would be odd to have the sound coming from your wrists or legs..so...do you wear necklaces or choakers at all?" The screen near the scanner displayed the letters A-Z and numbers 0-9. "The screen will slowly scroll up, reveiling the next thing to say at the bottom. I'll need to you repeat each letter, number, or word five times. It's the fastest way I know of doing this without cuting your neck open a putting an antificial voicebox in you." Gearhead's voice told Vibe and Abyss that she wasn't honestly thinking of that as an option but that it could be done. "I know it'll be tedious but just say with it." Tapping a few more buttons, a stool on wheels came out of the wall towards TJ, which she redirected towards Vibe. "Go ahead and start." Once the basic letters and numbers were done with, the screen would show the most common words used in the English language, as well as the most commonly 'confusing' and/or 'missued' words

"Morse Code is so OOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLD. And boring."
Vibe flinched away slightly as yet another gadget seemed to appear out of nowhere. She was half-expecting to see mechanical spiders to start crawling out of the walls, or metal tentacles, or something else creepy sci-fyish.
"I need you to put your hand inside like so, and when I say so, I'll need you to 'say' what comes up on the screen here."
Vibe looked at the contraption, then at the doc. How was she supposed to 'say' anything? If she could do that, she wouldn't be there in the first place.
Dr. J was pretty much laying down in her chair now, looking up at a screen in the ceiling, pressing buttons the arms of her chair. Hmm.... maybe she was a machine too.... That would explain the lack of a need to sleep.....
"It would be odd to have the sound coming from your wrists or legs..so...do you wear necklaces or choakers at all?"
'As long as they don't look cheap,' Vibe signed idly, still trying to figure out the 'saying' problem.
"The screen will slowly scroll up, reveiling the next thing to say at the bottom. I'll need to you repeat each letter, number, or word five times. It's the fastest way I know of doing this without cuting your neck open a putting an antificial voicebox in you." Vibe raised an incredulous eyebrow. "I know it'll be tedious but just say with it."
Staying with it wasn't the problem. Starting was the issue....
Vibe eyed the scanner-like contraption. Carefully, almost as if she expected the thing to bite her, she placed her hands as instructed.
And stood there looking. Now what? She didn't know how to 'say' anything.... Did she? Actually, she must. But how? Amp usually picked what she was saying right away. Vibe had never stopped to think how. It just.... happened....
Several silent moments passed while Vibe considered what to do. Finally, she looked at the screen. Vibe knew she could identify a person by their voice, without looking at them; even Abyss's clones she would be able to tell apart after a few more conversations. Maybe she could imitate them as well. She began imagining what Amp's voice would sound like if she were reading the letters and numbers, a voice she was most familiar with. Then she tried to make her vibrations sound like that. It took more than five tries per letter, word and number, but slowly and surely, her vibrations began to take on a constant 'voiceprint'. There was a steady, almost inaudible, pulsing buzz flowing through the room.
It seemed as if Vibe wasn't quite sure what to do at first, the charts and graphs on TJ's screen were blank for a few moments before they picked up scrambled and seemingly random pulses. The girl wasn't concerned with time, she never had been, so how long it took before the patterns became solid and normalized she wasn't sure, but Vibe did seem to get the hang of 'saying' what was needed. Another screen in front of TJ lit up, which flashed though a seemingly infinant number of words and phrases, inserting the most consistent of Vibes work into their proper place.
"You're doing great Vibe!" TJ said with a smile as a third screen came to live, showing a 3D headshot (shoulders and up) of Vibe, Abyss, and TJ herself. In each image, the bone and muscle structure was being measured and analyzed. While TJ and Abyss' images weren't needed, Gearhead thought it might be helpful to show what she was doing. When Vibe neared the end of her work, Abyss' image was outlined and highlighted before it spoke, perfectly imitating Abyss's own voice, "I've analyzed your work and put it into a soon to be working program." Switching to the image of TJ, "As well as analyzed yours, Abyss' and my own physical features to..." The screen in front of Vibe changed to show the image of Vibe herself. The image spoke, "Create your voice."
The screens above Gearhead moved back to their original positions as her chair returned to it's own original state. "What do you think?"
Vibe had spent several years teaching her sister to speak normally without hearing. But this was totally different, and much, much harder. By the time she'd gone through everything that was required, she was near exhaustion. She'd never created such constant vibrations for anywhere near this length of time.
"I've analyzed your work and put it into a soon to be working program." Surprise crossed her face when Abyss's headshot began speaking, and double when it switch to the image of Doc J. "As well as analyzed yours, Abyss' and my own physical features to..."
"Create your voice." There was a moment of completely silence. The screens above Gearhead moved back to their original positions as her chair returned to it's own original state. "What do you think?" she asked.
Vibe tried her best to remain stoic, but it just wasn't possible. The image sounded almost exactly like Amp. Vibe could barely pick out the difference that indicated a recorded voice. All it needed was shorter hair, and a devilish smirk....
" We will get her back, and make them damn well regret they ever took her. This analysis did a damn good job of finding your voice. This device will make that much easier getting her back."
Vibe stiffened out of habit as she felt the massive hand on her shoulder, but she was actually grateful for the comfort for once. She just wasn't ready to admit to it just yet. She didn't do anything, but she remained stiff until Saturn backed away.
"What is next Doc?"
Resolutely Vibe wiped away her tears and turned to Doc J. She was ready for the next step, as long as it brought her that much closer to getting her sister back.
Tears were not what TJ had expected when she showed Vibe her 'voice'. To say she felt uncomfortable wouldn't be correct, she felt..uncertain. She didn't know what to do or how to react. It'd been so long since she delt with other's emotions or even her own. Long enough not to remember what it felt like to cry. She was much more like a machine than a person when it came to emotions. TJ was glad when Abyss moved to comfort the girl. <No...Abyss is, a clone? Now how, when did he? Something for another time, yup.>
Vibe seemed to calm down as the big red man asked what was next. "Well, the program is still compiling the information and putting the final touches on, so that'll take a bit. I need to design the necklace or choaker, whichever Vibe would be more comfortable with." She looked at the girl, "Look for whatever designs and styles you like, I can recreate it with the nessisary adjustments." She looked to the man, "The receptor is what I need to build. I can make it into a bracelet or ring. There won't be any need for batteries or the like, they'll both be powered by the body's electrical system."
"Vibe, which would you prefer: Bracelet or Ring; Choaker or Necklace?"

"Vibe, which would you prefer: Bracelet or Ring; Choaker or Necklace?"
That was easy. She signed, "Necklace, Ring. Here."
She reached around the back of her neck to undo the necklace she was wearing. It was gold 18" chain, with a round, flat gold pendant an inch across. The letter 'V' was etched into the metal in a way that made it sparkle like little diamonds, and the diabetic symbol was engraved on the other side. Her sister had one just like it, with the letter 'A'. It had been a gift from their grandparents. The chain had been replaced many times, but the pendant had seen over a decade of use. It was her most valuable possession. She also took off the ring from her thumb that Kaz had given her, when the Twins had first met him.
She held them out to Doc J. "Will these work?" she signed hopefully.

Gearhead moved towards Vibe while still in her chair. Leaning towards the girl she took the necklace and ring. Looking over the two pieces, she looked at Vibe then back to the ring. The ring wasn't as elaborate as the necklace, which seemed out of place to her. But what did TJ know of Vibe, she had only just met her. Looking at Vibe, "Do you want me to use these specifically? If I do, it won't be possible to return them to normal."
Sitting as far back in her chair as she could she began to swing her feet, like a child who couldn't reach the floor while sitting. "I could create replicas with the nessisary adjustments." TJ hadn't moved the slightest bit towards the scanner or work bench. Instead she sat and held her hand out, the ring and necklace resting in the palm of her hand as she waited for Vibe to answer.

"Do you want me to use these specifically? If I do, it won't be possible to return them to normal. I could create replicas with the nessisary adjustments."
Vibe hesitated, but only for a moment before signing, "Use them." She reached forward and closed the girl's fist over the jewelry.
From a practical point of view, they were logical choices. Since she always wore them, they wouldn't be out of place to raise suspicion among prying eyes.
From a purely emotional view, they were just pieces of metal. If they helped get her sister back, giving them up was worth it. You can't put a pricetag on family.
With an attempt to restore her 'I-could-care-less' attitude, she tossed her head, flipping her hair casually.
"After all," she signed, "I can just buy another." She avoided looking either Abyss or Doc J in the eyes however.

Nodding, Gearhead moved herself over to the scanner, setting the pendant down first. "This'll take a bit. You can stay if you'd like, though it might be a day or two." She spoke without turning to look at Vibe. The scanner filled with a piercing white light, while a small humming noise flowed through the room. "Or if you'd like, I can let you know when it's done."

>Fine.< She said, silently, with an outward nod to go with it. She took a deep breath and looked in the direction of the pair of Abysses, but without looking them directly in the eyes. She didn't want them to see the tears forming again, and swept out of the room without a sound.
