The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

For the second time that day Katrina was sitting on someone’s shoulders. She felt like a bird perched up so high. So there were some benefits to being small, like lightning speed piggy-back rides. She couldn’t help but role her eyes a little at Kazelf’s “Don’t be in a rush to grow up.”
“Yes sir, big brother sir. I won’t wish to grow up so fast. I just wish I could be more useful. Everyone else is busy getting ready to fight for the resistance and I can’t do anything to help.” Katrina sighed. “I wouldn’t want to fight even if I was older, but I could do something.”
Katrina filed away the information about the lab areas. If these ones weren’t the dangerous ones, maybe later she could go in and see what all those mad scientists were up to. She did wonder what kinds of things they would be doing in those other labs.
“For fun? I play oboe and ride horses. I also like to take care of animals. I pet sit my neighbor’s dog sometimes. I like shopping and hanging out. I also like reading and playing games. How about you?”

Kaz could almost imagine Kat's reaction when he told her not to rush growing up. Though her response he wasn't sure if it was laced with sarcasm or something else, but he still found it funny the way she said it. "Glad to hear it. We don't want to miss it." Kaz was almost 100% positive Nicki would feel the same way, and that was the only reason why he said 'we'.
Kaz thought for a few moments about Kat wanting to do more to help. "You're doing more than you think you are Kat. For Nicki and I at least. And I'm sure others as well. It may not be exactly what you're idea of helping is, but with you around, I'm reminded that there's more than just our freedom at stake here. It's your freedom and future as well as all the other mutant kids. It's wrong to punish and suppress you because Humans are scared or because of the actions some of us have done." Kaz wasn't as strong as Abyss or even Hunter at the moment, and though Kat wasn't really heavy, he could feel it in his legs and lower back. As such, Kaz shifted his legs slowly as he walked along the halls as well as let the shift move up his chest a bit, reinforcing his back and lower torso, making it a lot easier to walk. Doing this also cause him and Kat to rise a few inches higher above the ground. "Besides with you around. I know I'm in better spirits. And moral is a very important thing at times like this. You're defiantly helping in that area." Though he couldn't look up at her, the smile on his face was noticeable in his voice.
"Animals huh? That's cool, never been much for animals." He shrugged a bit. "I don't think anyone could have paid me to get on a horse at your age. I don't like the idea of trying to control an animal that big" He chuckled a bit. "Ya think I might be able to hear ya play your oboe some time?" He tilted his head a bit to look up at her from the corner of his eye. "Myself? Spend time with Nicki, hang out with Abyss from time to time. Gymnastics and work out. That's mostly what I do for fun." Kaz snickered a bit before he continued, "I sit at the bottom of pools to relax. Ya think that's odd?"
Katrina just listened as Kaz described what she was doing to help the resistance. He made it sound like she was important to helping the resistance by showing others what they were fighting for and lifting spirits, but somehow being mascot and cheerleader didn’t seem like it would help anyone win the big game. Saying it did seem to help Kazelf, though. He seemed to stand up straighter, as if he was proud of fighting for her freedom and future.
She responded instead to his comments about hobbies, laughing good-naturedly at the idea of Kazelf being afraid of horses. “Horses are big, but they are actually really gentle. If they are well trained, it is easy to ride them too. They respond to commands, just like a car responds to pushing on the pedals. It’s easier than playing oboe. Speaking of oboe, I’d love to play for you and Nicki some time and for your friend Abyss, whoever that is. Who is Abyss, by the way? And how can you breathe at the bottom of a pool? Can you hold your breath for a really long time? I can, because I have big lungs from playing oboe, but I can’t stay underwater for that long.”
