The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Horses huh? Never been on one of them. I've seen a few, but not many. When I was younger, they were probably one of the only things that scared me." Kaz laughed at himself and truly admired Katrina, doing something even he wouldn't do as a kid. "I own a couple convertibles and a few motorcycles. When there's a chance I'll take you on a ride on one, how's that sound?"
Kaz looked down each side of the hall, ahead and behind them. He stopped in front of Katrina and got down into a crouch, "Hop on, it might not be exactly like a motorcycle or a car, since we're in a building, but, hold on tight, 'k?"
A couple or convertibles and motorcycles? Even her parents weren't that rich. "I'd love to go for a ride with you, that would be cool!" And it looked like she'd be getting a ride right now, piggy back style. Katrina clasped her hands around Kazelf's neck and hung on with her knees too. "I haven't had a piggy back ride since..." Katrina tried to remember, "maybe a year ago. I hope I'm not too heavy."

Kaz felt Kat climb on and stood up. He let her adjust a bit to get comfy. When she said something about weight, he decided to bounce up and down a bit. "Naw, not heavy at all." He started making his way down the hall, at a decent pace. "How about this, whichever way you lean, we turn, tap my right shoulder to go faster, and left to slow down, and lean back if you want to stop. Deal? I'm even gonna close my eyes." Just as he said that he shut his eyes and left control up to Kat.
Eyes closed was a new twist, and she got to steer. "Okay," she responded enthusiastically. She was used to being in charge of steering a horse, but Kazelf was a person. To test out steering, she leaned left to go down an abandoned hallway, then right to go down another one. She couldn't tell if he was peeking or not, but she didn't mind either way. This one was a really long hallway, good for speed. Katrina tapped Kazelf's right shoulder.

Kaz's intention was for Kat to trust him, the only way to truly earn that, is by first giving trust. He kept his eyes closed and only focused on the directions she gave him. When she leaned to the left Kaz turned quickly. A bit too quickly by his guess, as he felt Kat's legs tense just the slightest. When she leaned right, he turned a bit smoother. Then there was the tap on his right shoulder. Kaz grinned as he doubled his pace, going from near a jogging speed to an average run speed. "Gettin the hang of the controls?" He asked her with a chuckle.
“I think so,” Katrina responded. “You aren’t tired are you?” When they came to the end of the hallway, Katrina tapped Kazelf’s left shoulder to slow then down then steered them to the right again. They zigzagged until they came to another long hallway, again it was empty. This time Katrina patted Kazelf’s right shoulder two times, to see how fast he could go.

"Tired? Oh no, not even close." He let a smirk play across his face, not that Kat would be able to see it. With his eyes closed he really had no idea where they were. With that and how he didn't know the layout of the labs well yet, he wouldn't be able to backtrack to their starting area very quickly. Kaz shrugged mentally as they zigzagged a bit, <Getting lost can be fun too.> Two quick taps to the right shoulder, he leaned forward a bit and went into a full on run, what someone would see an Olympic pro sprint. "You must be finding some straightaways. Too bad we're not on a race track, you could really put the petal to the metal."
They were going really fast now. She was actually starting to feel the air in the hall push her hair back as Kazelf ran. She was amazed that he wasn’t tired out after a few feet. Katrina estimated that her horse, Galahad’s Triumph went about 25 mph at a quick gallop. Kazelf must have been going at least that fast, but it seemed even faster because the walls of the hallway were so close. Doors kept flashing by. It was quite thrilling, and Katrina couldn’t help but let out a small “Wee!”
At the end of the hallway, Katrina had slowed him down again to make the turn. They were in another really long hallway. She wondered how fast he could go. He’d implied that he could go faster if they were on a racetrack. As long as he wasn’t tired, she might as well try it. This would be fun. “Three taps, top speed!” she exclaimed as she tapped his shoulder.

It was obvious was choosing the longest and straightest halls to have fun. When she let out a 'Wee' of joy, Kaz laughed along with her. He was quite glad the little one was having fun. When they slowed down and turned into another hallway, Kat said, 'top speed' to which Kaz turned his head and looked at her. "Alrighty, but, I'm gonna open my eyes up for this."
With the first tap he doubled his pace, the second, he doubled it again, and with the third, he again doubled it. Kaz's feet flew under him as he leaned forward. His hair was being thrown back. Just as a man stepped out of one of the doors along the hall, Kaz put his foot on the wall and continued to do so until he was above the man, running along the wall. His legs itched, running up and along the wall was something he wasn't use to. He quickly got back to the floor and finished off the hallway before he slowed into a jog. Taking a deep breath, "How was that, eh?"
Sometimes it was best to act grown up and sometimes it was good to still be a kid. This was one of the latter times. She didn’t care at the moment that only kids got piggy back rides, she was having way too much fun.
They were going so fast! Katrina couldn’t even begin to guess at their speed. The doorways were just a blur now and their hair was whipping back with the wind. It was a good thing that Kaz opened his eyes this time, because they would have hit a person coming out of one of the doorways; Katrina wouldn’t have seen him and reacted in time. Quite suddenly they were running on the wall instead of the floor. Was that even possible? Then they were back to the floor again and slowing down. Katrina never would have thought they would reach the end of the hall that fast.
“That was awesome!” she exclaimed. "How did you do that?"

Kaz felt Katrina slipping down his back a bit and bounced her up so she wouldn't slide off. "I guess you liked it." Laughing he took a few breaths to settle his heart down. "How did you do that?" Kat asked him, and for a moment Kaz wasn't sure what she was asking about specifically. "You mean the wall thing? I'm not quite sure. At least not on a technical level." Thinking for a moment for how to explain it, with his limited understanding of physics. "Umm...You ever put something into a bucket then spun the bucket around really fast? If you do that the stuff in the bucket doesn't fall out. Sorta like making it's own gravity or something. Running on the wall is similar, though it works better on an incline than a vertical wall. As long as there's enough constant or accelerating speed, you stay up...I think at least." Kaz shrugged, not really sure if he answered Kat's question or if he would just confuse her more, as he almost confused himself.
With a slightly embarrassed chuckle, "Ya know...giving you a ride was fun...and I kinda forgot what you asked me about this place...heh."
Katrina listened to Kaz’s explanation of the physics of running on the wall with a somewhat confused expression on her face. “I don’t really understand stuff like physics, but that sounds like it would work to me.” Physics. It was a lot like math, except harder.
Katrina tried to remember back to what she had asked earlier. “You know, I don’t remember either.” As she looked around at the hallway that looked just like all the other hallways and her tummy grumbled loudly. Was it time for dinner already?

Kaz chuckled, "Physics are way over my head. I just guess and hope it works." Kaz decided to keep walking, taking random turns. <Maybe we'll find our way back.> Quite suddenly and loudly, at least to Kaz, Katrina's stomach growled at her. "Skip lunch today?" He said with a laugh as he looked around the hall. He noticed a panel on the wall and walked over to it. After a moment he realized what it was and tapped a few buttons on the touch screen. "Canteen." The screen changed and showed a map with arrows that lead from their current position to the canteen. Laughing, "Looks like we're close...in a roundabout way." The map showed the arrow curing around a large section of the building where some of the labs were. "If you want we can get something to eat."
Katrina thought back. Pancakes, BLT, ice cream. She had eaten a lot today and yet she was still hungry. "Nope, I didn't skip lunch, but it is definitely dinner time. I think I must be growing finally. I'm way shorter than all the girls my age back at home. I can’t wait to be taller, because being short can be such a pain. Everyone thinks I’m way younger than I really am and I always need to stand on a chair to reach stuff."
She watched over his shoulder as Kaz fiddled with a computer panel on the wall. Soon he had a map displayed that showed how to get to the Canteen. “Hey, that’s cool. What is that, there?” Katrina asked as she pointed to the area they would have to go around to get to the canteen.

Kaz turned his head a bit to look at Kat, he could have turned it all the way around, but that would be weird for her. "You don't seem that short. You're only 12, you've got some years yet. Who knows, within the next few years you might get your major growth spurt. But," Kaz shrugged a bit before dropping a bit and taking a half step back, which put Katrina's legs over his shoulders. One hand held her leg, while the other he twisted back and up to steady her back. "For now, you're taller than anyone here." He stood up straight. The ceilings were nearly 12feet high so Kat was in no danger of bumping her head. When she was steady he moved his hand to her lower leg, holding them with his hands gently to help her with balance. "Don't be in a rush to grow up Kat. Enjoy being young. You will miss it when you get older."
Kaz looked at the area Katrina had pointed out, "I'm not quite sure." With a couple of taps in the general area the image zoomed in. "Labs it seems." He thought for a moment, "Probably just testing. Doubt it's anything big or hazardous since it's on the main floor." Kaz began to follow the path the arrows had pointed out. "So, what do you do for fun?"
