The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

((Since there's not an actual place for 'sleeping quarters', I'm putting this in the barracks. The room is not connected to the barracks))
After leaving the canteen, Kaz and Nicki made their way to the sleeping quarters. He stopped by the Barracks and grabbed a few items before moving on. Picking out the room farthest down in the sleeping quarters and the one most likely to be away from other people, they went in. Kaz took his guns from their holsters and put the gun locks on them as well as locking his blades in specially locking cases he looked at Nicki. "So what's on your mind. Beyond the obvious?"

Nicki lifted an eyebrow when she saw Kaz start to de-arm himself. She shouldn't have been shocked, but she was some what surprised that he was packing that much.
"Okay, what's the deal with Hunter? Is he a mutant? Is he telepathic? Cause I kept trying to read him and NOTHING. Like, blocking out people nothing."

Kaz sat in a chair that was in the room, "Yeah, he's a mutant. A telepath. I have no idea. But I doubt it. Though, I can say with all honesty that he's had plenty of time to train his mind. He's probably got one of the strongest wills of any person on the earth." Kaz stripped off the outer shirt he was wearing and draped it over the chair, getting more comfortable. "He probably knows about your ability and was doing it on purpose so he wouldn't accidentally 'leak' anything." Kaz shrugged. He wasn't sure, just guessing. Though he understood Hunter enough, he wasn't able to understand or guess the man completely.

Nicki walked over to Kaz as he sat down, sitting in his lap as she listened to his explanation. While it was clear that Kaz was telling her the truth, Nicki felt like she wasn't getting the whole story. She could just confront him with this idea but Nicki wanted to try and play things more casually than she had been before.
"How would he know about my power? What wouldn't he want leaked?" Nicki asked, furrowing her brow slightly. "Kaz, what is this? Tell me what's going on babe..." Nicki asked, letting her fingers play with Kaz's silver locks.

Kaz smiled as Nicki sat in his lap and played with his hair. While it was a bit distracting, he knew this was important to her. "I honestly don't know how he would know. I don't know if he does. It was just a guess. But he seems to have an odd way of knowing things." Kaz took a breath as he remembered his first meeting with Hunter. "He knew about me back when I first came to New York. Maybe even before. He apparently had taken a vested interest in me. I didn't know about him or that he knew about me until just a little while ago." Kaz shrugged slightly. "As far as I know, this place is where Hunter carries out his operations. To achieve whatever his goals are. He employs people to those ends, like myself, but in exchange helps his employees achieve their goals, while giving them a nice check. I'm sure he has some other personal reason for helping other mutants and letting everyone who wants to stay here and be safe, but whatever it is, I'm not worried." He looked at the girl and smiled, "As long as it helps to keep you safe."

Nicki smiled a little as Kaz explained. She leaned in and kisses him gently, before pulling back and continuing to play with his hair as she thought out loud. "I just...this seems weird you know? He knows about you, he knows about me, he knows all this stuff and I just don't get how he can know all this stuff..." Nicki sighed a little, leaning her head down to Kaz's shoulder. "And I know that there's some legally shady things going on here, you don't have to deny it..." Nicki shook her head a little. "I just feel like I don't have any clue of what's going on and I feel like Hunter is hiding something rather serious..."
Nicki trailed off as she continued to play with Kaz's hair. A heavy silence fell over her momentarily. "This place is confusing. So much stuff is confusing right now..." Nicki sighed. "I wish I knew what happened to everyone at the mansion..." she trailed off.

Kaz couldn't repress his chuckle. "Yeah, weird is an understatement. I almost felt violated him knowing so much about me. I'm guessing that he has or had some informant at the mansion. Apparently he had one at Sanctuary, after I had already left." Kaz squeezed Nicki's hand slightly, "But, when you've been around for hundreds of years, you get connections and learn a few tricks." Kaz kissed Nicki. "You seem to be able to put a more positive spin on things. 'Legally shady' is defiantly an understatement I'm sure."
He knew what he said next would probably be a downer, but he wasn't going to hide it, "Whoever hasn't come here already was probably captured or has fled underground somewhere. The government is basically recreating the holocaust. I don't think they'd be able to do the mass murder...." He put his arm around Nicki and held her closer.

"Kaz, I don't think that the government is trying to kill every mutant out there...I know that they're rounding us up but calling it the holocaust is a little extreme..." Nicki said, almost as if she wasn't in her body. She was thinking too hard. In fact, she was thinking so hard that she almost missed something.
"Wait a minute...wanna run that whole 'hundred years' thing past me again?" Nicki demanded, her eyes wide.

"I know they aren't out to kill mutants. But they didn't mass murder the jews right away either. They did exactly what they're doing now, round'em up, tag'em, and bag'em essentially." Kaz had had time to digest the fact Hunter was immortal, he didn't realize what it meant when he told Nicki Hunter was hundreds of years old. "Um...yeah. Hunter is immortal. At least that's what he told me. With how he fights with a sword and all this, I have a hard time not believing him."

Nicki was shocked as Kaz explained that Hunter was immortal. "How can he be immortal? How did be become immortal?" Nicki asked, lifting an eyebrow, sitting up straight. "What, does he have a pet unicorn too?" Nicki scoffed a little, her brain searching for answers. "How the hell can he be immortal and how the hell can you be so accepting of it?" she asked, chuckling at the ridiculousness of the situation.

Kaz looked at Nicki with surprise. He didn't expect her to react like she did. "Ah...I'm guessing that's his mutation. Or at least one of them. I know he's faster and stronger than any human." Kaz felt a little odd at the moment, almost as if HE had done something wrong. When Nicki mentioned a unicorn he relaxed a bit more, until she asked he he could be accepting of it. <Am I on trial or something?> "I don't know. I don't really see what the big deal is. He told me when we first spoke, so I've had time to digest it I guess. Besides, I don't know what kind of immortal he is. I don't know if he just can't die, or if he doesn't age and that's how he's immortal. I know he can bleed and be hurt. I did that myself." His tone was slightly defensive. He didn't like feeling like he was, well, on trial.

Nicki sighed as Kaz answered, his thoughts running off too. "Kaz...that's not what I meant..." she trailed off sighing again and cuddling back up to him. "This is a lot of information to get. I have never known anyone who is immortal. It's like finding out that vampires are real or something...it's supposed to be a myth and it's real..." she sighed, looking up towards Kaz's crimson eyes. "I didn't mean to make you feel like you were on trial or anything...I'm just shocked that you can handle something like this so well..."

Kaz sighed, he knew she didn't mean to 'put him on trial', but he couldn't help how it made him feel. He pushed those feelings and thoughts aside, it wasn't really important. He smiled at her, "I can turn into a four armed monster, Abyss can create six clones of himself," <I've murdered without remorse, and without provocation.> "I've met people who can bend light and sound to their will, and," He looked Nicki in the eyes, "My girlfriend can pick my brain as easily as picking up a book. I learn to handle a lot and try not to dismiss anything into the 'impossible' category." He hugged her close and kissed her softly. "And time always helps."

Nicki smiled. Maybe he was right. Maybe she was kind of overreacting. But today had been hard. Her surrogate home had been attacked, her friends had been captured, and now she was in a strange place run by some guy that she didn't exactly trust. She had seen weirder things than an immortal and hadn't bat an eye (granted, most of those things had to do with Kaz and her tolerance level was rather high for that gentleman) so she should be able to handle a little thing like immortality.
"I'm sorry if I made you feel like I was coming after you babe. You know that that's not something I would ever do..." she leaned her head on Kaz's shoulder. "I always have your back..."
Nicki sat silently for a moment, biting her lip as she was now cautious to bring up Hunter again. "You're sure we can trust your boss right?" she asked quietly.

Kaz reached up and stroked Nicki's hair a bit, "Don't worry bout it." He tilted his head a bit to touch his head to hers. "I know it's been a hard day for you."
"You're sure we can trust your boss right?"
Her next question caught him off guard. Blinking a few times before his brain focused again. "Yeah, we can trust him. He's a man of his word." Kaz knew that was true. He knew he could trust Hunter before this whole mess, but now a new spin has been placed on everything. Hunter made a decent speech in the Canteen, but Kaz had a feeling something was missing, and he'd have to talk to Hunter, probably sooner than later.
