The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hunter saw the bo coming and reverse, so he ducked under and around to avoid the strike. As he did he spotted the daggers. Flashing Kitra a sly smile he lunged at the copy’s chest with his sword as he caught one of the daggers out of the air and deflected the other one with it before throwing the one in hand back at Kitra. Time to see if she could react to simultaneous attack on both her and the copy.
Kitra had caught sight of Hunter's sly grin, right before he throw the dagger at her, also attacking the copy. The copy attempted to leap backwards but stumbled and got slashed. It had avoided about have of the blow, still a deep gash however. Kitra snatched the dagger out of midair and winced as she saw the damage done to the copy. "I guess I'm going to have to work on that."
The copy throw the bo up in the air, it faded away as another copy appeared behin Hunter and caught the bo. And brought it straight down at Hunter's head.
Hunter saw the copy toss its weapon skywards and he could anticipate what was coming before it happened. He was already turning as the copy disappeared and another appeared. As he spun he also sidestepped, avoiding the bo strike by the thinnest of margins.
While dodging he also struck back, swinging he sword out with the intent of decapitating the copy. He was curious as to whether decapitation would be sufficient to defeat the copy, or merely rob it of its senses. If the latter was true, then Kitra should be able to continue the fight by using her own senses to coordinate the copy. Were she able to do that she could offer an opponent a nasty surprise, having them attacked by something they thought defeated.
Kitra winced as Hunter severed the copy's head from its body, nasty. Kitra couldn't see through the copy's eyes anymore, nor any of its senses but touch. The copy slammed its boe towards Hunter's side as Kitra ran forward and swung her bo for Hunter's other side. If Hunter managed to dodge the copy;s bo and her own bo would hit each other's. Kitra grinned as she brought the dagger, she was stll holding it her left hand, slashing through the air for Hunter's neck.
Hunter was impressed that Kitra kept the copy fighting. That should unnerve an opponent in a fight, seeing a usually fatal blow do little to stop it. It had however cost the copy accuracy, as Kitra was making moves from a differant perspective than normal the aim was off, making the dodge effortless.
However, he now had more thant he copy to worry about. It seemed Kitra felt that the copy was outmatched alone and she decided to come in and help. His sword deflected the bo strike, but that left him with no weapon to counter the dagger. Moving fact he caught the dagger in his teeth and gave Kitra a wicked grin, before throwing a punch aimed to catch her in the ribs. He wouldn't break any, but it would hurt like hell if it connected.
The phrase that ran through her mind? 'Aw crap, so screwed. Not gonna give up yet though.' He caught the dagger in his teeth and grinned wickidly at her before throwing a punch at her ribs. Kitra throw herself backwards, ridding herself of her bo in the process. The copy also disappeared, now it was a fight between her and Hunter. She managed a backwards roll, coming up about three feet from Hunter. She grinned just as wickidly as he did.
Five daggers appeared in midair and arrowed straight for Hunter. As did three wooden spikes and two iron spikes from above. *OOC: Kitra's going for an all out battle, you can stop her ability with mesmeir but you'll have other issues on your hands then. winks* "Don't hold back Hunter." Her eyes narrowed slightly, "I want to do my best and I know you're a lot faster then this." Kitra concentrated as a longsword appeared in her hands. She moved into a 'ready' position and waited.
So Kitra wanted it all out, who was Hunter to refuse. She'd asked for his A game and he would bring it. Moving at full speed he came forward, whiping his sword around to deflect the knives before him. Before the spikes fell an inch he was out from under them and bearing down on Kitra.
Charging he flicked out his sword to knock hers aside and lashed out with his free hand. His intention was to hit her, open palmed, in the stomach at full force. The power behind the blow was sufficient to lift Kitra off her feet and send her flying across the room and crashing into the wall. Hunter was using all his speed and all his strength. She'd asked for this.
And he dodged it all, cool. She nodded as a even more wicked grin appeared on her face, it nearly disappeared as Hunter charged her. Her sword was knocked away as his sword hit the upper part of the blade as she had made an attempt to leap backwards. His open palm grazed her stomach, the force of it sent her spinning. She landed on her side, rather close to the wall. The wall happened to be abnout 20 feet or more from the center, which was where she had been.
She pushed herself up with her arms slowly as a longsword appeared close to her on the floor. She spit a bit of blood out of her mouth. She wasn't sure where it was from though. She pulled her knees under herself and grabbed the longsword. She got up and fully charged Hunter, grinning evilly as she did so. *Geez Hunter such a horrible influence* Ropes appeared in midair attempting to wrap themselves around Hunter. A metal cage would fall, trapping him in seven seconds, if he wasn't fast enough. She was almost there, she would aim for his throat, twisting her sword and going for his shoulder instead. This was fun, the glint in her eyes made this even more clear.
Kitra was made of stern stuff it seemed, but then Huter already knew that. She was going all out for this, using her powers to try and restrain him allowing her to land a blow. His blade flicked around him, slicing the rope to shreds. He saw the sword strike coming, and the slight flicker as her eyes went to where she intended the strike to land, as opposed to where it was aimed.
Hunter waited, letting the cage drop on him. Kitra's stirke came through a gap in the bar's and Hunter waited until it changed to go for his shoulder before leaning aside. With the sword now inside the cage Hunter grabbed one of the bars and heaved with all his might, sending the cage upwards.
Rather than wait to see if Kitra withdrew her sword in time Hunter sliped out of the cage and around behind her, swinging his sword for her neck. He wouldn't stop until his blade tasted blood, intending to leave Kitra with a little reminder of this session.
Kitra's eyes widened as she truly realized that Hunter was extremely powerful and she wasn't even a speck. Everything was going in slow motion and yet too fast for her to follow. The next thing she knew, he was behind her and his sword had drawn blood. 'Her blodd. Oh, What's going on?! Why is everything dimming. My sowrd is gone I can't feel my sketchbook. Why can't I use it?!' A small whimper escaped her mouth as her entire body went rigid and an unearthly whne filled the room. Her eyes saw her sketchbook, pages upon pages ripping themselves out.
Her breath caught as she realized that Hunter's sword was no longer around her neck. She fall to the floor, numb as everything screamed in agony. She moaned, whatever was going on, Hunter was in danger. They seemed to be targeting him, why? Oh, yea, they had been sparring, why couldn't she stop them?! She didn't know how. She opened her mouth and managed to croak, "Hunter, run. You've got to get out of here."
All of the paper from her sketchbook rushed Hunter, aiming to slice him into bits, to make him bleed. It attacked from all sides, its only intent was to maim and kill if possible. "No, leave him be." She could barely talk. Kitra struggled to get up, she had to stop this...
The strike connected and blood was now glistening on his blade. Then all hell broke loose. Without warning the pages of Kitra's sketchbook were moving of their own accord, and moving after him. Instictively he threw himself to the side, avoiding the first strike and rolling to his feet.
The paper followed. Lashing out with his sword he fended off the paper, but was soon surrounded and being pressed from all sides. Not even he was fast enough to avoid them all, and he started to get small cuts and gashes as the paper wizzed past. Upon hearing Kitra's cry he knew that she wasn't in control, and that he had to act.
Launching himself up he flipped over the interveening paper and called out to Kitra. "Look at me! Let me into your mind. I can help you control it." Once again the paper was upon him, and he was weaving around the room, darting this way and that, but always keeping an eye on Kita, hoping she'd heed his advice.
Kitra grimaced, Hunter was getting hurt. All because she didn't have control. Everything was foggy, but she had to do something. She concentrated on her sketchbook in her mind. She ccaught small glimpses of her sketches, she was finally able to get a decent view of a bo. As she pulled herself part way up with her hands, a black bo appeared next to her on the floor. After pulling her legs underneath her, Kitra grabbed the bo and used it to lever herself up.
She had heard Hunter, thats why she was moving, albit slowly. "Hunter, try to get over here. I don't think the paper will hurt me." Well, that came out rather croakish, lovely. She shut her eyes and attempted to concentrate on the paper. 'Leave Hunter Alone! We were just sparring, if anything I'm the one in the wrong. So Stop Hurting Him.' Kitra blinked in suprise as the paper stopped, quivering in the air. A jab of pain went through her, causing lose of concentration. The paper went back to attacking Hunter, even more vicously this time.
She whimpered, this was bad, really bad. She had to control it, it was going for the kill now. Only Hunter's skill was what was keeping Hunter alive at the moment. Why would something connected to her want to kill Hunter? It didn't make any sense. Maybe, ugh, enough. She had to figure out how to make it stop. Her grip on her bo wavered as pain lanced through her. It seemed to make the paper pause before continued its attempt at killing Hunter even more brutally.
"Hunter, if I can't control it, even with your help. The best bet will be to knock me out." She grimaced, Kitra wasn't even sure if that would work. She felt like she was going to pass out at anytime. She was gasping for air now, the throw hadn't hurt her. It was trying to control the paper. Her eyes were completly blurred, and that nosebleed that had been waiting in on the sidelines finally came into play. Yeah, how fun. *OOC: *winks* I hope this is enough to work with lol.*
Hunter was flitting about the room moving as fast as he could. He'd discarded his sword in favour of a bo from the weapon rack. All the sword was doing was making more bits of paper to attack him. With the bo he could just defelct the paper. He clothers were in shredded, and his skin criscrossed with faint red lines from where the paper had caught him.
Kitra had missed his instruction, and wasn't thinking clearly enough to think to use his psychic abilities to help. So Hunter was left with few options. The first was attacking Kitra. That was far from desierable, and as the paper seemed to be defending her, it was unlikely to be easy. Second was finding someway to beat the paper. This room did not have any flame thrower attatchments, so that was looking unlikely.
Third option was to hold out until Kitra got control. That was by no means certain to happen, but had the best eventual outcome. However, even with his prodigious abilities, he couldn't keep this current rate up. What he needed was a leveler against the paper. As he continued to weave around the room he ran a quick list of the mutant powers he had blood samples of. Zelek's was off limits, as it would reveal to Kitra that he had killed Zelek. Tris would be helpful, but he'd recently used her vial and it hadn't be replenished yet. Kitra's own vial had been used to help him in severing the ties he had severed in Kitra, allowing any copies of him that he made to not project their pain onto him.
Setteling on his chioces he now needed to execute his plan, the riskiest part. Flipping over to a terminal in the wall he whirled the bo one handed while typing furiously with the other. He instructed the computer to combine blood samples from Shogun and Lisa Jordan, the woman who donated her Ice powers to Paragon, and produce an injectable vial of it. As he hit the last button a thin slice of paper made it past his guard and went straight through his left foreare, clean between the bones.
Wincing slightly Hunter gabbed the vial and flipped away, getting enough space to give him a faction of a second to inject the blood. Almost at once the new sense kicked in. Now he could not only see where all of the paper all around him was, but where it was going. That combined with his already enhanced reflexes was enought to mean he could discard teh bo and avoid the paper, but he had another trick.
He started making thin ice sheets to deflect the paper, creating a moving shield around him as he made his way over to Kitra. The combination of absorbed powers meant that he could sense the paper all around him and defend against it while looking at and talking to Kitra. He was a little rusty with Lisa's power, but Shogun's psychic sense gave him enough time to sense the attacks. While Kitra may not have direct control of the attacks, she was still subconciously directing them, and so Shogun's unique sense could pick them up.
"I'm not going any where," said Hunter as he came and stood in front of Kitra, "Nor am I knocking you out. You can control this, and I'm here to help." As he spoke sheets of ice formed and disapated around him to deflect the attacking paper
Kitra blinked, startled as Hunter appeared beside her. She watched in amused awe as ice deflected the paper's attacks. "Neat trick Hunter, I didn't know you could manupulite ice." Her lovely nosebleed was still there and she frowned, the paper couldn't hurt either one of them at the moment. She glanced at Hunter and winced as all of his wounds were taken in by her foggy eyes.
"Hunter I'm sorry. Those look like they hurt." She trailed off, trying to figure out how to subdue the paper. Nothing was really coming to mind. Everything was still really foggy, foggy to the point of making her near passing out. Kitra moved slightly to regain her balance, thus ending in her losing her balance and tipping backwards. She looked up at Hunter from the floor, "Alright, what now?"
"Another secret of mine that I'll fill you in about once this is all over," Hunter replied with a smile to her comment about the ice. "Don't worry about the cuts, I barely notice them. I've suffered far worse." They did sting, and the one through his forearm hurt, but all had clotted and were healing. In an hour, there wouldn't be a mark on him.
"From here we do one of two things. Either you, on your own try and get the paper under control. Or I can help. Look into my eyes and I'll use my psychic powers to help you as much as I can." He wasn't sure how much help he could be. Keeping his ice shields moving was taking, and using the psychic sixth senses was a little distracting. He certainly wouldn't be able to give Kitra his full attention, but he'd give her what he could.
