Will’s continued discomfort was obvious, even as Kealey continued to speak.
Yes, he was curious. Curiosity that had spiked when Kealey confirmed the rumors Will had heard about the Danger Room. People were always so very interested in the Danger Room. Kealey thought there were far more interesting places in the Mansion, like the Library. It was so beautiful in there, and quiet, and serene. The Danger Room was…chaotic.
The discomfort didn’t seem to wane though, despite the fact that Will appeared rather nonplussed on the outside. Was it a defense mechanism? Was it just the man’s natural demeanor? Mutants in New York dealt with the reality of their situation in different ways. Will couldn’t be old enough to have had to survive the camps…
Will also didn’t have any commentary and didn’t ask any questions until the blonde prompted him to do so. He was still suspicious and Kealey tilted her head slightly as he clearly struggled a bit to come up with anything he could ask her.
Who funded the Mansion?
Kealey blinked slightly in surprise at the question she had not expected.
”We share a large endowment with our sister school. There are also a number of private donors and we do get some govenrment school funding as an accredited institution.” she explained, then frowned slightly.
What was the right play here? Cards on the table? Kealey studied Will again for a moment trying to figure out what the right move was, then made a decision. It might be the wrong one with the way that Will was working to keep an even disposition, but at least they could dispense with all of the pretenses.
“What can I do to put you at ease?” she asked, seriously but not unkindly, “I don’t mean to pry, but with my powers I can’t help but tell you’re uncomfortable.”
