Lee smiled when Tarin made a comment about how difficult it would be to replace her. It felt really nice hearing that out loud, even if Lee knew that it was true.

"On top of someone to do the scheduling and ordering, he'd need an external accountant and payroll company again," Lee told Tarin. She hadn't initially taken on all that at the bar, only once she had cut back her hours. But it had ended up saving Matt in the long run.

And had made Lee feel that she was actually doing enough to still earn her salary.

Lee definitely understood where Tarin was coming from with not knowing that there was anything else he would be good at doing. And while the shop could be difficult some days depending on what he had to deal with, it was simple and straight forward for him in terms of work. And definitely was capable of supporting him.

But she understood. At one point, Lee didn't think there was anything she would be good at, didn't think there'd be any kind of job she even liked doing that she would be able to have. "I get that," Lee said simply.

They had arrived at the bar, stopped in front of the door, and Lee was a little surprised at first when Tarin spoke. She'd gotten so used to him opening doors for her, and every time they'd been to the bar together he'd done so if the bouncer at the door hadn't pulled it open for her first.

But it was day time and the bar wasn't open. Right. Releasing Tarin's hand, Lee pulled her keys out of her bag and opened the door. Stepping inside, Lee immediately moved to shut the alarm system off. "And here we are, at that eerily quiet bar in the middle of the day," Lee announced as she flicked the lights on. "The office is my first stop."

Yep. Tarin had been right. Matt had definitely gotten an incredible deal when Lee had agreed to do all of that work for him. Tarin didn’t have any idea what he paid Lee, and it wasn’t a single bit of his business, but there was no way it was enough to cover all the things she had just listed.

”That alone should have him bending over backwards to make sure you never go anywhere…” Tarin said as Lee pointed out that Matt would need accounting and payroll if Lee left.

Lee also seemed to understand what Tarin was getting at with his personal job situation. It just made too much sense to keep doing what he was doing. It sucked some days and the mental strain could be a lot…but sometimes it felt nice to be able to help. So yeah, it didn’t seem like Tarin would be looking to change careers any time soon.

They were at the bar now and Tarin had to laugh just a little at Lee’s surprise when he pointed out that he didn’t have keys. It only took a minute from there to get into the door though and then Lee was pointing out that the bar was eerie and quiet during they day and that she needed to head to the office.

”It does feel a little weird in here without the music and with the all the lights on…” Tarin said, but his idea of eerie and everyone else’s were generally two different things.

But Lee needed to go to the office, ”Does this mean I get the behind the scenes tour?” he asked with a smile.
