The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lee absolutely could and had broken handcuffs. Real police ones too. ”Impressive.” Tarin said as they walked, and gave Lee some time to think about what she wanted to say to Rachel.
Lee spoke and Tarin listened, this was her deal and he was happy to help with anything that made her happy. He might have handled things differently than Lee was planning, but it was not Tarin’s sister that they were explaining things to and he admittedly did not understand the dynamic they had.
Then Lee said Robert’s name and Tarin couldn’t help but laugh a little bit as she explained her plan. ”We’ll have to send him a thank you card…” he said after a moment. ”I think he’d like that….”
Would Rachel believe the story, ”She’s as likely to believe that as she was our story the night after the bar.” he said, ”And that went off without a hitch, right?”

”Impressive.”
The blush that had been fading from her cheeks resurfaced as she heard Tarin’s voice. But that’s all that he said as she thought about what she was going to say to her sister. About what story the two of them were going to have to follow and stick with if Rachel was going to believe them.
And Lee laughed after she suggested that it had all started from Robert over the weekend. ”Oh, he would love that,” she said sarcastically. ”Though, we may get another ‘visit’ sooner than we expected if we do that.”
The real question was whether Rachel would actually believe them. Though as Tarin pointed out, she had believed their last story about what hadn’t happened the night they went to the bar. Lee then realized that Rachel hadn’t actually asked about it, or them, since the day after the open mic.
Had they really been that convincing?
”So Robert said what he did, and when he left, we got talking,” Lee said, adding details to the story. ”We hadn’t done anything about it, obviously, or even really admitted to ourselves that there was something there because of…everything else. But if even a teenage boy can see that there was something there…So after I made sure that Kevin was alright with the idea, we decided to see what was here and to give it a shot. Hence, first date tonight.

”Gonna have to start checking the peep hole before opening the door.” Tarin said, though the only people who ever knocked were Lee’s siblings. ”At least if I’m not interested in seeing if his right hook is that weak all the time or if he was holding back the last time.”
Lee filled in the details and Tarin couldn’t help but admit that the story was pretty solid, especially if Rachel had bought their last story as completely as it seemed like she had.
”And how did the date go?” he asked, looking over and down again as they walked, completely straight faced, ”Just want to make sure we have all the details straight.”

Checking the peephole. That was probably a good idea in general, Lee realized. A good idea that Lee had never really thought about doing because as long as she could sense that there was someone on the other side of the door, how bad could it really be?
But Lee couldn’t help the laugh when Tarin commented on her brother’s punch. ”If you do end up sending him that thank you card, I wouldn’t add that little comment,” Lee told him, her tone still joking. ”Though, I think the only fights he’s ever really been in have been in hockey, so…”
”And how did the date go? Just want to make sure we have all the details straight.”
”I think it went very well for a first date,” she told him as she looked up with a smile. ”Not that I’ve really been on one before. But dinner was good, both the food and conversation. And the movie, though it was a little sad, we enjoyed it.
“Also, you were a perfect gentleman all night,” she finished, squeezing his hand as she smiled wider.

”Sounds about right.” Tarin said, when Lee pointed out that she thought the only fights Robert had ever been in had been in hockey games.
”Do either of them know about all the things you’ve done?” Tarin asked, thinking again that the dichotomy between siblings was kind of wild. Rachel with her carefree and almost flighty nature, Robert with his holier-than-thou, know-it-all attitude. Both of them thinking that Lee was utterly incapable of handling certain aspects of her own life.
As for the date.
Lee said things had gone well, and Tarin nodded along until Lee pointed out she hadn’t ever been on a first date before. He almost asked her how that was possible since she’d been married, but he realized he just really didn’t want to know and kept his mouth shut.
But yeah, things had been good. Pretty standard first date stuff, even if he had shared a bit more than he usually would have in this kind of situation.
He was also, apparently a perfect gentleman.
”High praise.” Tarin commented, ”Sounds like we’ll have to go out again sometime. Maybe see where things go.” he added, giving Lee’s hand a squeeze back.

Lee shook her head when Tarin asked if her siblings knew about everything she had done. ”You know more than anyone who wasn’t there for the things I’ve done,” Lee admitted. ”Both Rachel and Robert know the basics of the merges, and only enough details to understand what they needed to. And they know I was in the Camps, and what the collar did to mutants. Rachel knows a bit about the breakout, but…” Lee paused, taking a deep breath as she considered how to explain things.
”They’re both so…sheltered from how bad life can be, from how things are for mutants. I mean, they were both shocked and almost couldn’t believe what I went through when I was homeless, and that was typical, human street issues.” Lee’s eyes had dropped again as they walked, her voice growing quiet. ”Not good by any means, but common. Things they bring up when the news actually talks about the homeless, things the police deal with, or ignore, on a daily basis. If they found that too shocking to believe, they won’t believe anything else I’ve done even if I were to tell them.”
But how the date had gone, Lee smiled when Tarin commented that she’d given him high praise. ”Just don’t let your ego get too big now,” she teased before her smile became more serious yet happy. ”I think I would really like to go out again. And who knows, maybe this will go somewhere more than just roommates who went out on a couple of dates.”

They didn’t know. They didn’t know any of it. Tarin listened to Lee talk and so many more things made sense.
Her siblings were sheltered, and they were willfully ignorant. Tarin could understand how it how and why because it was easier to simply pretend like those things hadn’t happened to their own sister rather than accept the uncomfortable realities.
”It’s absolutely not my place,” Tarin said, frowning thoughtfully, ”And I’ll never bring it up again unless you do first…but you should tell them. You should tell them all of it.” He paused for just a second, but kept going ”And if they choose not to believe you, their sister whom they both claim to care for deeply, then they’re not worth your time. I think Rachel will surprise you, for what it’s worth…”
Tarin didn’t say anything about Robert, he’d only met the guy twice, after all.
But then they were on the topic of his ego and Tarin had to chuckle a bit, ”I’m sure you’ll keep me in check.”
As for that smile and what came after, Tarin just had to grin back, ”Wouldn’t that be something?”

”…but you should tell them. You should tell them all of it.”
Lee looked up at Tarin in surprise when she heard him say this. He knew more about what she had done in her life, the things that he thought made her extraordinary and a superhero.
He didn’t even know half of it.
”Maybe,” Lee said, a slight, thoughtful frown on her face. ”Though, maybe after you hear more, you won’t think that’s such a great idea anymore…”
When Tarin chuckled about her ego comment, Lee grinned. ”You’re damn right I will,” she said, nudging him with her shoulder. ”It sure would be something, and prove me wrong about there not being anyone else out there for me…”

”Maybe, though, maybe after you hear more, you won’t think that’s such a great idea anymore…”
”You don’t know everything about me either Lee…” That was an understatement. There was so much he hadn’t shared. So much that he probably needed to share, but simply didn’t know how. It was a sobering thought in the midst of all the easy talk and banter of the night.
”It sure would be something, and prove me wrong about there not being anyone else out there for me…”
Oh God, someone else for her? Tarin remembered Rachel in his shop talking about Lee and how she hadn’t even gone out in six years because she had given up.
And now she was looking at him like that, and smiling at him like that and it hit Tarin like a punch in the gut. What was he doing?
But he smiled back, how could he do anything else with the way it made him feel when she smiled like that? And said things like that?
”And you’re so very rarely wrong.” he said, ”I think I’d like to see what that’s like.”

”True,” Lee agreed. Though they had learned about each other and shared so much more than people normally would in the short time that they had known each other, there was no way she could have known everything about him yet, just as he didn’t about her. He hadn’t even answered all of the questions that she had asked about him.
But in time, maybe. As each of them were able to share. Because Lee knew there were times you just couldn’t share something that had happened to you, even if you wanted to.
”And you’re so very rarely wrong. I think I’d like to see what that’s like.”
”Oooh…” Lee said, laughing. ”You want to see what it’s like when I’m wrong?” Lee reached her free hand up toward Tarin’s head, fingers slipping behind his neck, gently pulling him down as she stretched up to give him a quick kiss. ”In this case, you might get to.”

”In this case, you might get to.”
Lee reached up to pull him down for a kiss and Tarin happily obliged, thinking that if they weren’t in the middle of a somewhat busy street he’d have liked that kiss to go on a lot longer.
Where were they anyway? Close to home than was ideal considering the third degree that was probably going to be waiting when they got home.
They started walking again and Tarin couldn’t help but glance at Lee every few steps.
”You’re going to have to be patient with me…” he said softly, ”I don’t know how to do…this.” .

At least he leaned down to meet her kiss. Not that it was a surprise, but it did make it easier.
A few moments of silence and Tarin Lee heard Tarin speaking again. She gave him a small smile as she looked up at him. ”I kind of gathered that,” Lee said softly, giving his hand another squeeze. ”I didn’t always know how to do this, either. But yes, Tarin, I can and will be patient.”
Rubbing her thumb on the back of Tarin’s hand as their building came into view, Lee looked up at him again. ”Should we place bets for how long it’s going to take to get her out?”

Lee said it like it was so easy, and he supposed she knew what she was going on about. It was true though, and honest to God, terrifying.
And there was their building, Lee wanted to take bets on how long it would take to get Rachel out of the apartment and he looked down and smiled a little, ” That depends entirely on how much patience you have tonight.” Tarin said.
They were coming up on the lobby now, and as they entered the building, Tarin frowned at the elevator.
”I’m still having trouble with elevators.” he admitted, even if Lee already knew. Still, he reached out and pushed the button, ”I figured it would go away, but it’s not.” he added, carefully avoiding eye contact as he spoke, ” I haven’t had this kind of issue since I was a kid.”

How much patience did she have tonight? That was a valid question. ”Far less for Rachel than I do for you,” Lee told him.
Now that the building was in sight, they were quickly making their way to it, into the lobby and making their way to the elevator.
And Tarin told her that he was still having difficulty with the elevator, with enclosed spaces. She had noticed him tensing up and, well he didn’t really ever show much emotion, but he had seemed anxious over the past few weeks whenever they had been in the elevator.
Lee didn’t want to smile, this wasn't a good thing, but she was very glad that he had finally told her about this. ”We can take the stairs if you’d prefer,” she told him. ”Really. We can.”

Lee offered to take the stairs and Tarin shook his head slowly, “That doesn’t make it go away…” he said staring straight ahead as the elevator made its way down to them.
” It’s not so bad when I’m not alone.” he admitted.
The elevator arrived and Tarin moved forward into it and pulled Lee with him. It was getting better…kind of. Besides, they had bigger fish to fry.
”Want me to help in there or keep my mouth shut?” he said, holding Lee’s hand just a little tighter and asking about getting Rachel to leave.
