“I should go.”
God, she was so close. It would have been so easy just to reach out and see what would happen if he tipped her chin up just a little…
But no, he’d promised himself that all it would take was a single word or indication that this wasn’t what Lee wanted. “Yes…you probably should.” Tarin said, taking a step back, then another and crossing his arms across his chest.
Even if his heart was hammering in his chest like he’d just taken a run, an easy smile spread across Tarin’s face to show he wasn’t upset, or disappointed, or anything. “Goodnight Lee.” he said, moving back to pick up his phone and drop back onto the bed.

The look in Tarin’s eyes as he stood there after she said she should go. He didn’t do anything except look at her, yet Lee’s breath caught again.
“Yes…you probably should.”
Lee nodded even as she saw him take those same two steps, backwards, that he had just made toward her. Yes, she needed to leave. Lee blinked, then turned slightly to make her way out of the room. It was easier to do now, now that he wasn’t so close.
As she was making her way to the door, Lee heard Tarin speak. Turning her head to look back at him, Lee saw him smiling at her. “Good night, Tarin,” she replied with a smile of her own. Then she quickly made her way out of the room, closing the door behind her. Then she just stood there for a moment, taking a couple of slow, deep breaths.
After that last minute in there, Lee was no longer unsure what the ‘this’ between them had been. That was very obvious now. But that did not help her figure anything else out. Taking one more breath, Lee made her way to the bathroom to have a shower before heading to bed herself. Though it was questionable how soon she’d be sleeping. Lee had a lot to think about suddenly.
