Mutations
Mutation description: Minor Matter alteration/"Alchemy"; he is able to change air atoms and molecules into other types of atoms. Right now he is able make wooden things, the largest and most common being a staff He is also able to make small metallic items, the largest being a knife the size of a regular kitchen knife. Strengths: He can make almost anything out of those materials up to certain lengths. Metallic items can be fine-tuned to be as sharp or dull as he wants to when it's created. He can also fuse wooden and metal objects together while using his power; the best example is when in a life-or-death battle, he creates his staff with metallic blades at either end to use as a spear for slashing or stabbing.
Wooden material is the easiest to make for him so he has a larger amount to work with. The most he can create at a time is 16 cubic inches, but after 14 cubic inches, the size of a normal bo staff, the material becomes brittle and practically useless in a non-decorative sense.
Metal, Mettaliar only has about 2 cubic inches to work with, enough to create a normal-sized kitchen knife, until the metal becomes brittle with the maximum of 4 cubic inches. This makes well for short but useful knives used for either throwing of as a CQC weapon. When dealing with how sharp the metal can become, it is dependent on how small the blade. When he creates small throwing knives, they can be sharp enough to cut through hair, making it easy to impale into a body at a good enough velocity. At the maximum length of effectiveness, it is enough to cut through skin slightly and do little damage. Beyond that, the metal can be very dull at most. Metal objects also need much more energy from Mettaliar to create. If Mettaliar were to make a repeated number of throwing knives, it wouldn't be too long before he would tire and be unable to create more knives. For this reason, Mettaliar creates a decent amount of metallic knives and weapons in his off time and stashes them in his coat, limiting the opportunities to run into this scenario.
Weaknesses: He can't make absolutely anything... just wood and metallic things out of air. He also does not know how to dispose of matter, so once he creates an object he can only expand, never shrink. It also takes a lot of energy to create designed pieces and can wear him out if he doesn't rest from using his mutation once in a while.
Also, the transformation process is not always instantaneous. The more times he practices making the item, the faster the process becomes. For instance, his staff and knives he's been making for years can be made practically instantaneously, whereas design out of wood he hasn't tried before could take upwards of a minute to conjure, making it very bad to try something new during battle. Mettaliar also must have one or both of his hands surrounding the object during creation to meld the shape with his mind; an example is when Mettaliar makes his staff, he puts his hands together in front to make the middle and stretches them apart to complete the ends.
Secondary mutation description: None
Strengths: Weaknesses:
Fighting Style (if applicable)
Explanation: Improvised martial arts styles he learned growing up that mix boxing, wrestling and very little jujitsu; he trains by himself in the use of the a staff, usually creating one with the air molecules around him. His typical fighting tactics depend on his interest in the fight; if dragged in or forced to fight, he will keep a moral sense and let the fight come to him, using his jujitsu and wrestling to take down charging opponents while with his staff he holds back and works to parry-and-counter weapon-wielding opponents. When his interest in the fight peaks, whether fighting to help a friend of taking on someone for personal reasons, he uses his boxing to move in and strike, while with the staff becoming very attack-prone and going for knock-out blows. Pros for fighting style: It's a combination of multiple styles, so it makes him a well rounded fighter. Due to his height and build, his wrestling can help him match smaller opponents and make take-downs easier for him. Cons for fighting style: He's no master, so up against a skilled opponent it wouldn't fair as well, especially when on the ground and forced to use his jujitsu knowledge. He's very green with submissions and in a think-fast scenario would usually blank out and not be able to counter properly.
Faction Allegiance The X-men/ The Order/ The Kabal/ Other/ Unaffiliated: X-Men trainee and hopeful to be a full fledged member soon.
History Of Your Character: Mark was born in 1990 to a small family growing up in northern New Jersey, born into a middle-class family of pediatric nurses. His childhood was fairly normal and enjoyed school, especially in the field of music. From the time his public school started introducing instruments in the first grade, Mark was caught up in violin and guitar while also studying as much music history as he could understand. From a young age he seemed to be a prodigy of music and many in his family and circle of peers were confident in a bright future for him.
Upon the age of eight, though, something changed; while practicing a certain violin solo, he became very frustrated with the difficulty and continued to grow angry. Suddenly, a loud thud sounded in front of him and scared him. Looking, he noticed a small wooden block had fallen, previously no where near his room. Figuring he had forgot about it, he continued playing when it happened again, this time a small metal object landing on the ground. With concentration he was able to conjure these two elements at will and realized his mutation.
It wasn't long before his parents found out, either. While his mom tried to pass it off as nothing, his father grew paranoid; seeing on the news mutants fighting and being persecuted, he worried about his son's future as a mutant. Convinced that he had to steer his son away from his mutation, he became harsh on Mark whenever he used his powers. While it first started as yelling and punishments, as time grew and Mark slowly rebelled and tried to harness his power, his father's punishments grew more violent. A vicious cycle had begun.
Due to this, Mark spent his free time interested in self-defense. Since his parents refused to pay for actual training in any art, he would watch and learn slightly from watching his peers who took jujitsu classes train and practice with them. At the beginning of middle school, Mark took it upon himself to join the wrestling team and learned for a year in basic grappling and take-downs. Mixing both of these with a simple school-yard fighting style, he gained a improv style of his own which he rarely used but felt good to have and helped him feel secure at home.
At the age of fourteen, Mark's father was laid off of his job. Returning home, he sat down and began to drink heavily. Seeing his son had again been using his powers, a fight ensued that escalated beyond normal levels. Out of fury, his father grabbed a knife from the pile Mark had made and slashed at his face, chipping and gashing near Mark's right eye. Mark fight back and landed a punch that drove his father back. Trying to bandage his wound, Mark grabbed some spare change off of the table and fled, knowing he couldn't live at home much longer for fear of worse encounters.
Setting off to New York, Mark had completely changed his name and called himself "Mettaliar;" "Metta" being an inside joke with friends about his constant misspelling of "metal" as "mettal," and "liar" for his compulsory lying he had to do and would have to to survive in New York on his own. Finding an apartment and job, he lived with a small family in New York for a few years until he had heard of the Mansion and decided to head off and live there.

Sample RP: Mettaliar walked the streets looking for something, anything, to do. He closed onto a corner, slowly approaching a large pet shop. Deciding that looking at dogs was a good idea, he put his hands in his head low, slowly walking through the door and looked around, finding the section with the puppies. He might seem and sound like a hard-ass, but deep down inside a dog could really touch his heart. They were the closest to the animal he fantasized about have; the wolf. But since he didn't want to be a criminal any longer, he decided that a good sized dog would do. Besides, he barely had the money to afford a pet, although he would die for a chance to have a dog of his own.
Upon looking around the cages of small dogs, he saw the one dog that made him all mushy on the inside. He walked over to it and kneeled down to look at it more closely. The huskie, in all of it's glory, was five feet away from his face. It's sky blue eyes stared up at him in that all too familiar puppy dog begging stare. Mettaliar considered trying to steal it for a good two seconds. He seriously wanted to break that dog free. They were meant to roam together. He knew it.
A voice suddenly struck his ear. An obnoxious, squeely voice that made Mettaliar shudder. He hated those voices of the obsessed pet-lovers who adore anything that wasn't human. He looked over to see who was making the noise. Suddenly he almost broke out laughing.
Iris was the girl making that noise. It surprised him deeply as he did not see her in that light. He saw her as the more calm-sided individual. He was wrong. Miserably wrong. For whatever reason. it made him laugh as quietly as he could. He got up slowly, taking a last glance at the depressed huskie, and crept up on her. With her being so perplexed with the bird, it was easy for him to close in quietly. Within a hairlength, he braced himself for her reaction.
"BOO!!!!"
