The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She didn’t answer his thoughts... instead she deflected by asking if he always did the right thing. Something Sam made note of. It seemed she wasn’t all too fazed by the attack or the possible concussion. ”Depends who is asking and my mood on the day.” he said honestly again.
”All the time, trouble.” he had done enough things to consider him bad by anyone’s standards. Over half of his life was a bloodied one. If anything he was trying to make up for it now. At least he was trying. Or so he told himself. Old habits were hard to break and there was even the thought of killing the guy he encased in ice but knew he’d disappoint a few important people in his life. Something he was trying to prevent. Another reason he quit drinking.
Taking a sip of coffee after giving it a good smell he realized that Daydream ate most of her food if not all of it while reaching around him for napkins, condiments and... his bacon burger. While he was looking forward to it he also reminded himself that this was probably some form of shock she was dealing with and she was paying for it so he leaned back a little when she went for it. Given the moment, anyone else would have gotten frostbite.
She was like a female version of Zek and Sam didn’t have the patience to deal with it today.”Welp, you seem well enough...” he took another long sip of his coffee and grabbed the badge and pulled a few bills from his pocket despite her offer to pay for it all earlier and set them on the counter.
”Trouble, try and stay out of it and enjoy the pie.” before finishing his coffee and heading to the door. His thermal sense still covering his surroundings for anything fishy.

Kendra watched, yes, Kendra; watched as he got up and moved to the door. She blinked her eyes a few times. She wasn't sure how she had gotten into the coffee shop. She watched him get up and leave. Her big brown eyes following him too the door. She smiled sheepishly and brushed the hair back out of her face. It had fallen out of it's ponytail and hung in her eyes. A few strands of red hair stubbornly obstructing her vision. Kendra noticed the large meal in front of her.
She felt pretty full, and that was a good thing. She usually burned around 4,500 calories a day. Just between her waking and dreaming hours. Seemed about right. She could eat this much and more and still feel ravenous. Though now, watching Sam leave she didn't much feel like eating. She felt a deep blush burning into her cheeks. She was hot and tired and sick feeling to her stomach. Had she really just eaten all of this in front of him? He must thing she was the weirdest girl he had ever met in his life.
She heard the jingle of the bell as the door opened. And when she looked up again he was gone. She slumped in her booth a little bit. Still feeling the stinging heat of embarrassment in her flush face. Kendra looked down and noticed she had something in her hand. She turned it over. It was small and square and leather. It was a wallet. That dastardly Dream had picked Sam's pocket while he sat in the booth with her. Probably when she was reaching acrosss the table grabbing this or that, ketchups and sugars and sauces and napkins.
"Oh dear oh dear." Kendra said flustered. She stood up almost knocking the table over in the process. She caused a loud clattering of silverware and cups. She awkwardly slid out of the booth and started towards the door. "Hey you didn't pay!" Someone called back at her. Kendra blushing more than ever ran back to the table and dropped some bills on it before sprinting to the door. She had to catch him. Only when she got outside the street was empty. The coffee had done enough to her sleepy state of mind to make Dream disappear. To put Kendra back into the driver's seat for the time being. Sweet, innocent, bashful honest Kendra.
Kendra opened the wallet and looked at the picture. He wasn't smiling. Did he ever smile? She wondered. She thought a bout him a moment and smiled herself. She couldn't help it. "Sam Johnson." She said out loud reading his Driver's license. Well. She thought. I'll just have to return it too him at home. She started to walk down the sidewalk. Sure that he had flown off or something to that effect. The man had super powers he didn't seem like the walk casually down the sidewalk type. Kendra knew she could be at his door in 4 seconds if she was asleep, but somehow walking down the sidewalk didn't bother her. She could use the fresh air. Walking past the bar, the rowdy bar next door; Kendra didn't even stop to consider he might have gone in for a quick drink.

The former assassin only got so far before he cursed into the streets, he was distracted by her. She seemed out of it a frail and she lifted his wallet. The four point check he did revealed he had everything except his wallet. ”Mother ****er!” he stopped in front of the bar and turned to see the woman he had just had coffee with. Trouble. She told him her name was trouble.
”Trouble.... tell me you didn’t just lift my wallet after I saved you from that guy?” Sam suddenly felt the need to unthaw the guy and let him finish the job. Technically he wouldn’t be breaking a promise. He’d just free the guy that would kill her. Not like he’d be pulling the trigger.
That wasn’t how he was anymore though. ”You asked if I ever want to do something bad...” he held out his hand for the wallet and a chill in the air washed over the surroundings near Sam. ”Gonna ask you once trouble.... Please can I have my wallet back?”
It had a photo I.D. a picture of him and his brother when they were kids and a photo of him in Cora in it. The second one was taken last year over one of their mountain climbing trips. Both of them had sentimental value. The wallet held a few credit cards and his business card to the mansion which had been destroyed recently. Other than the photos he was willing to part with it all.
Ok, now Dream was officially annoyed. Here she was trying to be sweet and innocent. Against her very nature might I add. She stole his wallet sure, but she didn't steal anything from it. She was just going to return it too the dope. 'Here you must've dropped this.' But no, he had to actually stick around and call her on her bullcrap. Dream's smile widened with a playful what if i did smirk. She held up the wallet and flipped it open. "Sam Johnson." She read aloud. "The X-mansion? Well, well, you are an important fellow arent'cha?" Dream looked at his ID picture a moment longer before sighing and snapping it closed with a flick of her wrist. "You know, you should count'chur stars I found it and not some crazy. You really should be more careful with thangs like this. Must've fallen right outta ya jacket." Dream considered how flimsy her lie sounded but she was caught with her hand in the cookie jar. She wasn't about to smash the cookie jar too.
Without another word she tossed him the wallet. They were a few feet apart so it sailed through the air in a short flat ark that almost hit him in the chest. Dream might've put a little extra umph on it because she was annoyed. She had considered how she could score a one way free trip to his house. Maybe be invited in. A handsome guy like that probably lived in a pretty nice place. Though Dream had been thinking about dreaming. She had been thinking about getting in there and casing the joint. Maybe discretely tranquilizing herself and letting her dream wander around filling her pockets with whatever. He looked like an easy mark. If not a bad looking one. But he was more clever than he looked. That wasn't saying much she supposed.
"You just don't let a girl have any fun." Dream huffed like a child who was told no. With that she reached into her jacket. She pulled out her tranquilizer gun and before she could be stopped she pointed it down and tranq'ed herself in the thigh. The pain was sharp and immediate. She reholstered her gun as she wobbled on shaky legs. Forcing her crossing eyes to uncross she leveled her head and stared directly at Sam. "See ya captain buzzkill. Maybe we'll mmeeeeeet again soooome day." Her speach slurred at the end. Her words drawing out longer as she collapsed in the street. She had been standing there in the middle of the street. Having this awkward goodbye. This uncomfortable confrontation.
Coming down the street was a pickup truck. The driver was arguing with his wife on the phone about who was going to have the kids that weekend. He didn't really see the girl in the road. Kendra, or Dream as it was still Dream in control; collapsed in the street lying in the direct path of the truck's front left tire. Dream moved over, invisible to her body on the ground. She gave one last squinty eyed annoyed look at Sam. Then she placed her hands on her sleeping body and blinked away. Teleporting her astral self and her physical body to another location. Leaving Sam in the road. The truck passed over where she had been lying only a moment later. When the truck roared by Daydream was gone. Seemingly vanished into thin air.

The icemancer had half a mind to freeze the woman’s feet to the sidewalk. Half a mind, the other just wanted to be out of there. Going someone where else. Anywhere else really. This was what he got for doing heroics. A headache and a feeling that he needed a drink. Which was bad, seeing as he was in front of a bar at the moment.
"Sam Johnson. The X-mansion? Well, well, you are an important fellow arent'cha?"
His frown stayed, as he watched the woman try to play coy. He didn’t drop things. They were taken from him. He knew enough growing up with nothing that things that belonged to you needed to be protected. His concern for the woman after her incident made him lower his guard. It wouldn’t happen twice. ”Doubt it.” he growled and held his hand out for his wallet. She could have the money if she wanted it. He didn’t need it.
His hand snatched the wallet out if the air before it hit him in the chest. If she thrown it any harder she would have gotten an ice slick under her feet... the thought was still floating in his mind. ”not today it seems.” he said ignoring her flirtation. It was starting to be more trouble than this was all worth.
His body iced up the second he saw her go for her side his hand at the ready and blue already ready to be shot forward. He saved her and she was pulling a gun to... shoot herself. ”the @#$%?” Sam asked as her speech slurred. This was an unexpected turn.
There was a truck. Sam growled again, ”Gotta be kidding me!” he ran to her downed body and then they vanished. Leaving Sam to in line to get hit by a truck. ”Mother ****er!” he shouted having been tricked twice by the same person. He jumped and held his hands out. His armor condensed and got bigger as the vehicle impacted and Sam was sent rolling up the vehicle.
”Now... I need a drink...” the icemancer said as he slowly got up and limped to the bar he was in front of. Doc could heal him later.
