The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

If they weren’t being attacked his Gryphon form would have chuckled if it could have. He learned he could do something similar to laugh but it sounded like a few chirps followed by a ‘scree’ he also found the meaning was often missed. Shin’s reaction when he drew near was funny, the creature the beak pulled from Shin and snapped up a few times was good. Just about as good as the last bite he had. Was he full? It didn’t matter there were more creatures attacking people.
>>>no more noodles off of faces, okay?”
Carrick shifted his bird like head to the side confused by the question. Or statement. Most people said thanks when you saved them from a monster ball of noodles. Carrick offered up some choice words for a sassy comment but they fell short in the form of ‘chirps’ but he understood.
The Gryphon reluctantly sat down and folded it’s wings to the side and scooped up the first offering. While he would have preferred to hunt the prey this would do nicely as well. He was king of the skies so being waited on made sense. “Screeeee-” Carrick shouted as he scooped up the first cut up monster noddle. The noodle struggled as the beak snapped it up tossing it into the air before swallowing it.

Noodles, buns. Food. Shin made like fruit ninja and got to slicing. The strange food creatures fell by the wayside. One, two, three, more. Shin deposited then on the floor. Carrick had a banquet before him, and Shin was a shard whirlwind of motion.
“It’s me,” the boy shouted In Japanese. “I. In the problem, it’s me!”
A share cut down a pork bun as it leaked at the boy. He snagged it with a hand, and curled it towards the gryphon.
Order, up!
Then he turned to the boy. Asked what the hello he talking about. He needed to calm down.
He babbled. In the background, a man rose with a sigh.
He took the napkin off his neck, and dropped it to the table as he rose. He had been eating. This has interrupted his meal. And then the gryphon, and the memories. Urp.
Really. His appetite. August had absolutely not needed the reminder.
Someone had cut down his lunch in front of his face. He was not feeling the happy.
As he walked past gryphon, he spot the monster and endearing smile. Forced.
“Got to hand it to you, Peter. You and your friends always save the day. Eat up. You’ve earned this.”
He glided up to the Asians. He had grabbed enough vocabulary from random Asian stuff to know “stop.” August did the magic hand signs, and suggested it. The boy stopped yammering. The six remaining monsters did not.
“orz,” he told the man. “That usually works. Guess we have to take the last ones ourselves.”
It was like eating octopus. Live octopus. Carrick didn’t know why he thought of it but he had a brief flash of an eight tentacle creature thrown up into the air and snapped up with ease. Was that a memory from before his de-age? Huh, he didn’t think he remembered anything from then. Maybe it was all a dream instead of a memory.
A boy ran towards them, one that didn’t matter to the shifter as the food was placed before him. Well it matter if he tired to take the food. A large bronzed wing blocked out the vision between the boy and the food deposited on the floor. Carrick didn’t plan on paying for it, nor sharing... it was a gift. Shin was paying for it all.
>>> “Got to hand it to you, Peter. You and your friends always save the day. Eat up. You’ve earned this.”
There was an aggressive trill from Carrick’s beak, mis-matched colored eyes squinted in his direction and a talon reached out to the food and pulled it closer away from the newcomer. This was his.
>>>> “That usually works. Guess we have to take the last ones ourselves.”
Another chirp, this one more aggressive as he nudged a bowl towards Shin. He wasn’t moving yet but was about to get up now that the food in front of him was gone, consumed quickly so no one could steal it. It wasn’t as fun as hunting for it’s meals but being served felt... right. A table knocked over as Carrick’s massive lower half stood up and turned towards the sound of someone screaming. There was more food attacking someone.

And suddenly, that guy was there? He told the kid to stop, he stopped. Carrick ate. Possessively.
They needed to wrap up the whole situation now. A clean up operation. Carrick was eating all he could eat. Shin went to work gathering more food monsters and slinging them into the gryphon’s bowl. M
The August personage went about kicking dumplings and noodle beasts Carrick’s way too. Rapidly, they depleted the numbers. Now that the Japanese boy was not summoning further monsters, they could actually make headway.
Eat, Carrick, eat!
((Shin August double post in one, I forgot this existed))
He scooped up a noodle monster. Threw it. Went at another with chop sticks. Skewered a pork bun. Laughed as Carrick devoured it. Threw a minor illusion of another one, which Carrick could not eat.
This was insane, he could have just kept eating. Why had the kid even done this, the one the Asian x-man had been talking to, they’d have to sort that out. Make sure this never happened again. That would be the x-man’s job, though. He was just here to get rid of this junk so he could go back for more food. Or leave with a clear conscience, and go get dessert.
“I wish I knew what had even been the reason behind this.” He muttered.
August didn’t understand mutants. At least when mystics caused chaos, it generally was intentional. Mutants could just activate and bam. Chaos.
It was a flurry of wings and claws as more and more food had been flung towards him. It had been a while since either form other than the human one ate this much. Maybe he should go flying after this to burn some of it off? Or sleep. The Princess was home. Maybe she’d preen his wings as he sat in a patch of sunlight by balcony of their apartment. That sounded nice. If it wasn’t for all the food and his need to consume it all he would have been purring at the thought.
Carrick’s beak pecked at a bowl and felt nothing as he tried to gobble it up. He clawed it next frustrated as a claw passed through it. With a frustrated growl he abandoned it and moved on to a pork bun. Something the Gryphon form preferred.
Soon there was less and less placed before him. Which was good. The king of the skies grew full and tired. With a final head tilt up and back he managed to swallow the last of the monsters as it tried to wiggle it’s way free.
“Scrreeeeeeeee!!!!” ‘This was fun! I’m the best!’
Carrick’s head went over to Shin and nudge him. ‘Get the bill, I’m satisfied now’ turning he gave a slight bow to the other man who had been throwing food monsters at him. “Chirp chirp” which translated to ‘Thank you stranger! Because of you we have saved the day! I shall grant you a favor one day. Call on me and you shall once again bask in my beauty!’

And suddenly, it was over. They were done. Carrick had eaten all he could eat, and there was none left. So many noodles, so much pork bun. So many, everything.
Carrick came over to nudge him. Shin patted the gryphon on the head and felt like the farmer in the movie about the pig that herded sheep. He suppressed the urge to tell Carrick “that’ll do, pig, that’ll do.” Would have been hella rude.
He walked away, bowed, went chirp chirp.
Surely all of this translated, but Shin did not follow. He went and paid the bill.
August parsed the translation. Blame it on his family. His sibling had a bird.
Clearly, chirp chirp translated to
>>> ‘Thank you stranger! Because of you we have saved the day! I shall grant you a favor one day. Call on me and you shall once again bask in my beauty!’
Or something like that.
“Yes, or course, great gryphon: thank you for your patronage,” he patronized. Smiling all the while.
That had been insanity. That had been wild. Hey why he done that? Oh well.
Was the Asian x man handling the kid? Yeah? Did anyone even care why his power had acted out and he had done everything he had done? No! Everything was resolved, he paid his bill, dropped a check to cover damages (100 dollars worth, what the hell). Then he left.
