"You know it would be easier if you told me what the hell happened. And then we can talk about your healing factor."

The shifter was uncomfortable, Pippa seemed worried. Was it because he worked for SUPER? Anything bad he did reflected poorly on them? It was weird for people to worry about him. Amethyst he understood worry about him but others? Was Pippa worried she’d look back for recommending Carrick for SUPER? His tail flicked in irritation when he thought about it. She did put her neck out for him.

He bared his teeth and let out a low hiss, something he very rarely did unless people treated him like a cat. Which he was part but still, it was kind of insulting but he didn’t dwell on it. His tail flicked and his eyes darted towards the nearest escape. Which was behind her. Clearly this building wasn’t up to fire code. Should have been a window he could have darted through at least.
”Stings... but Fair.” he said a little disappointed when she verbalized why she was worried. He was right. ”Insist is a strong word.” scrunching his nose he continued, ”Tossup between being put on a leash to being stuck in a cell, I’d take the leash gives me a little room to roam at least.” he regretted shifting and mauling that guy that put him here in the room where he was being questioned.
”Pretty sure I’ve been an upstanding intern! Showed up ta training, started paperwork, tell jokes ta lift the spirits of the suits!” his tail flicked more as he had to justify why it was a good call to keep him as an intern. Next Christmas Pippa probably wasn’t going to get a gift. That wasn’t true, she still kept him out of jail.
”Promise, I’ve been on me best behavior.” Carrick lied, best behavior was boring, and he didn’t start anything. Just happened to be there when **** hit the fan.
With a huff, he sang like the caged bird he was the more he was pressed to tell her something ”I might have run inta a clown. Threw knives, could make balloon copies of himself, threw knives. Shit clown really, pretty sure he was killing people down in the sewars. Or happened upon all those bodies. Some of them were strung up so there was something fishy going on there.”
”Any who, me being the skilled performer that I am tried to catch a few of the blades. Painful reminder it’s not like riding a bike.” he said showing his hands and the scars where he caught the blades in the center of his palms.
”I mean, I started catching them right after the third one but still it’s the fact that it took longer to recall how to catch them. I was just going to book club honestly.” he said knowing it sounded like a made up story. Most of the adventures he had with Zek sounded made up when he thought about it.
It was then he stopped speaking and inhaled, because the entire time he was reenacting and telling her what had happened he realized he forgot to breath.

Ooh boy. This was going to be a longer conversation. Pippa sat down at the kitchen table, motioning to Carrick to sit too, since he was already eating anyway.
"So... you... fought a killer clown." New York City never ceased to surprise people. Damn. She saw the scars on Carrick's hands... seemed like he did catch the blades, although not in the most convenient way. "We're gonna need a report about that, by the way." Inters gotta intern, after all. "But let's leave that aside for a moment. So, you got injured, and you noticed that you... had a healing factor?"
”Allegedly.” Carrick corrected at the end of her summary and shoving a little more food into his mouth now that he was breathing again.
”Alleged killer clown. Just cause he said he was gonna kill us and then tried ta stab us doesn’t mean he’s a killer does it? I mean, he failed ta kill us and all those bodies could have been there before he moved inta that part of the sewar.” then again he was immortal so it wouldn’t make sense for the clown to succeed in killing him.
The shifter swallowed and walked over to the seat opposite his work mom and sat down. Leaving the little amount of food left in the container on the counter. ”A report.” Carrick winked, he was an intern, so far he had been sending all of his ‘paperwork’ to office dad. Who hasn’t noticed yet.
”Forget the paperwork. Got it.” he repeated adding in a few words he could have sworn he heard. ”Noticed it fer a bit now, actually. Headbutted a brick wall a few times ta shut beasty up. Got stabbed and then shot recently too and well...” he showed off his scars on his palms. ”Immortal now.”
