The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Normally, Serena Lockhart would not have been caught dead in a strip club. Not even a high-end, classy one. Also, she had no reason to be in one, really; if she wanted paid entertainment, she could always just hire a good-looking escort or something. Less exposure that was. Publicly, anyway.
What had drawn her to Hexes and Hos, really, was the magic. She had heard rumors that the name was not just a pun, but also harbored some actual, street level magic users, and that piqued her interest. Next to studying big magic, she liked picking up useful spells, and where better to watch and practice than in a place where no one was paying attention to her anyway?
So, she was sitting at the bar now, watching the guests as much as she was watching the dancers. Did they seem... spellbound? She had a protection spell going through a tourmaline necklace, hopefully shielding her mental capabilities from money-grabbing stripper witches, but so far, she did not sense any magical urge to spend cash. She ordered two drinks, and sipped one, running her fingers along the edge of the other glass. She dipped the pearl ring in the drink, whispering the well-honed incantation to turn the alcohol into a truth serum. (It always worked easier with alcohol, because it was already halfway there.) Then, she looked around, trying to pick someone to offer the drink to.
Response: There are many of those who come into the security industry thinking it is a piece of cake. Look intimidating, carry a weapon, reinforce rules (or at least appear to), it to be fair that was how television and movies made it look. You could be some overweight diabetic tasked with traversing a mall on a segway and it looked like the simplest job in the world. But that wasn’t the reality of it – not by a long shot.
In a darkened corner of the main lounge stands a man. A massive man of impressive physique and mahogany skin. His head of shaved, a reflection from stage lights occasionally gleaming across his scalp as he turns looking this way and that. He isn’t here for the show, well, not really. It was his job to keep an eye on things. He was the bouncer and security for Hexes and Hos and he took his job very seriously.
Though a segway would be nice.
Rolling his shoulder and craning his neck, Telemachus Christou loosens his muscles some as he takes a deep breath. It’s a quiet night thus far. Only one groping incident but with a warning it seemed the delinquent was taking the threat to heart. After all, who wants to be kicked out of a strip club when there was so much more to partake of it? The night was young and there were still dancers to come.
Dark eyes moved between passing hostesses, dancers, patrons, looking for anything that might be out of the ordinary. He was beginning to think that the night was going to be smooth sailing when he caught something suspicious from the bar.
A woman. She was by herself. Normally that wouldn’t mean much but Telemachus caught the smallest of movements as she pressed her hand a little too closely to the liquid in a glass and turned to survey her surroundings. Someone needed to take some serious lessons in being subtle. With a sigh, he pushed himself off the wall and began to circle the room towards her. He wouldn’t approach, not yet. She hadn’t done anything yet. But once she attempted to hand that drink to another bystander, he would act.
For now he could casually continue his rounds but would tighten his path towards her, watching her every move, ready to intervene when the time was right.
Ideally, Serena wanted to pick someone who could give her information about this place. But offering drinks to dancers and staff was tricky; they probably did not drink and work, at least not in a casual way. So, she glanced around, trying to spot a regular instead. Maybe they knew more than a casual guest. Noticing a well-dressed middle-aged patron at the bar, who was only half paying attention to the dancers, she decided to make an attempt. Standing up with the two drinks, she walked down along the bar, taking a seat close to him (but leaving one bar stool between them, before he got any ideas). She put the full drink down on the bar, giving him a charming smile.
"I was told a woman drinking alone is bad luck. Care to save me?"
