The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Character's real name: Jonathon Bellmore Codename/Alias: Bedlam, Johnny Bedlam
Gender: Male Age: 22 Nationality/Ethnicity: Caucasian Birthplace: Montreal, Quebec. Personality: Jonathon can be quite charming when he desires. He has a large sense of humor, and practices his appreciation for dark humor and sarcasm quite often. He is generally a very calm individual; slow to anger and hardly ever taking offence where others would. However, he often doesn’t know where to draw the line, making comments and jokes that are often inappropriate or in bad taste. This is because, while quite socially apt, Jonathon is also somewhat of a sociopath. He generally doesn’t ‘get’ other people, and normally can’t empathize with the others, especially non-mutants. As such he often comes across as cold and callous or uncaring. Thus he is also somewhat self-centered and will lie and cheat others for his own ends. Despite this he is usually quite friendly to those he meets, even if this is often an act. To those who he does befriend, he is loyal to a fault. To those that slight him, he holds a grudge forever. He is quite intelligent and rational, valuing logic above emotion and disdaining ignorance. Jonathon is also quite vain, holding personal style and general cleanliness in high regard. Notes: He plays the harmonica and keeps one with him, playing when he is bored (which is often). Hates crowds.
Allegiance (Good, Bad, or Neutral): Neutral, although easily swayed either way.
Everyday clothing: Jonathon is always well, and often over, dressed. He generally wears a black suit with silver pinstripes, with a blue collared shirt, black under-vest, and a black tie. Sometimes wears variations on this basic formula; red shirt, white suit, blue tie, etc. Uniform: None Pajamas: White muscle shirt with black and white striped pajama bottoms.
Hair color and style: Dark brown hair trimmed short and well kept. Clean shaven Eye color: Green Height: 6’2” Build: toned, although somewhat lanky. Scars: None Tattoos: None Piercings: A bar on his left eyebrow, and a ring on his upper left ear
Description of ability(ies): Psychic Merger: Bedlam has the somewhat unique power of temporarily drawing the astral or psychic plain together with the material one, merging the two somewhere in the middle. This allows him to impose his psychic perception of material objects into the material realm. Thus it is manifested in several ways, allowing Bedlam to modify the shape and size of material objects as well as move them as if through telekinesis. The objects that he modifies still has to attain some semblance of its previous material object, as it is still located half within the material plane, but merely allows him to imprint his own perception on them. As such he is able to change the size and shape of an object, but not the mass, or composition of it. He couldn’t change a metal rod into anything other than metal, but he could manipulate the point of it into a spear. Similarly by manipulating his perception of the location of objects he can move them. Because his powers do affect the psychic plane his presence also has the side affect of often disorienting, confusing or temporary limiting all but the most powerful of psychics.
Cons (weaknesses) of ability(ies): Bedlam cannot turn his power off, and as such he often manipulates objects without intending to. He also cannot manipulate any living thing as they possess their own psychic imprint, which he has no control over. The most glaring weakness however is his vulnerability to telepaths. Since reality for him is based both in the material and psychic plane, any strong presence on this plane wreaks havoc with him and his powers. Since they could force their own perception onto his, they could in theory if powerful enough control his powers and possibly even him. Similarly, like his presence often disorients telepaths, their presence has the same effect on him. His powers are also invariably the cause of his complete lack of empathy and sociopathic nature.
Fighting style (if any): No formal training
History of your character: Jonathon was born the only son of an upper-middle class orthodox catholic family in a small town on the outskirts of Montreal. He was seemingly born under normal circumstances, and progressed through his early childhood quite ordinarily. However, when he started attending elementary school certain eccentricities were revealed, causing his parents some distress. While Jonathon was advancing well through his education, almost always near the top of his class and exhibiting gifted intellect, his social habits caused worry in his teachers and family alike. Not only did Jonathon apparently have no friends, he seemed to avoid interaction with others all together, preferring his own company to anyone else’s. Eventually his parents sought outside help, sending Jonathon to a psychiatrist when he entered the second grade. To no avail the doctor attempted to help Jonathon to connect with his classmates. Rather than learn empathy however, Jonathon instead merely learned how he was supposed to act. And so Jonathon began to act like he knew he was supposed to, becoming quite gentlemanly and courteous to adults, and fun and playful to other children. As such, he gained friends and became ‘normal’ in the eyes of his peers.
Jonathon progressed like this, leading a ‘typical’ life through the rest of his primary education, seemingly both socially and educationally gifted. Throughout high school into his upper years this trend continued, with an added interest in the opposite sex. Jonathon took great pleasure in dalliances with girls from his classes, and with his understated and well crafted charm, and general good looks he was quite successful with these endeavors as well. The problem arose however when his parents found out. Being orthodox they took a deal of offence with his impious affairs and threatened to kick him out of their house. Jonathon, who had long ago came to the conclusion that faith was an illogical and foolish belief system, and while already having a somewhat cold relationship with his parents, immediately renounced his parents’ faith. His parents enraged and full of grief at this seeming betrayal by their son, commenced with their threat and ejected Jonathon from their house. 18 at this point, Jonathon abandoned his education and immediately left town, hitchhiking to Toronto to find work.
It was while hitchhiking that Jonathon realized the true extent of his powers. There was no traumatic event that led to the discovery of his power, but rather a slow build into realization. In fact as far as Jonathon could remember he seemed to recall having these limited powers. He could tweak objects to his advantage and slightly move them. He had kept this secret, knowing that he was special and that others wouldn’t understand, even from a young age. However being on the road gave him time to practice and realize the extent and source of his potential. However he never showed his power to others or used them when anyone else was present.
For the next two years Jonathon worked at a coffee shop in Toronto while staying with students from the nearby University of Toronto that he had met upon arriving. Thirsting for knowledge after his short-lived educational career, Jonathon went with these friends when he was not working to the campus library where he read and absorbed as many books as he could. Eventually, he began hearing rumors that their were others like him, with special gifts, popping up throughout the world and especially in highly populated places like New York. Without hesitation Jonathon packed up his miniscule life, and snuck across the border to New York to find others like him.
Sample RP: Jonathon leaned heavily back into the cold plastic chair, watching the people buzz around him like insects. The subway car roared with their inane chatter, and their collective musk, beating down upon him. Oh well, he had learned to deal with these huddled masses long ago. They were nothing but a minor annoyance to him these days. Still, he couldn’t wait until he could find some solitude to gather his thoughts, and escape from these howling wretches. The train began to grind to a stop, echoing its passengers. A wall of humanity blocked Jonathon from the door however, and he needed to exit here.
He poked the woman directly in front of him on the shoulder gently, trying to get her attention. She was wild and unkempt, with a dreadful aroma about her. “Excuse me madam, but would be so kind as to move aside for a second and allow me to pass?” he asked in his slight Quebecois accent. The women turned slightly, looking at him as if it were he that was one of the insects, grunted slightly, and turned back around. “I suppose not,” he whispered, more to himself than anyone else.
The doors of the train swung open, and yet he still could not push through the crowd. He hated using his powers in public, not knowing who or what could be watching. But this was his stop, and he could not take much more on this steel monstrosity. How he despised public transport. It was a blessing that his powers were mostly disguised and unapparent. Fighting his way to the front of the crowd hurriedly exiting the train, he saw the doors slowly start to come to a close. Coming to a conclusion he quickly concentrated, bending his perception and causing the doors to remain open for a fraction longer. He quickly strode forward, and reaching the exit he stepped out of the train and into the terminal just before the doors closed on the subway car behind him. He glanced around once quickly checking to see if anyone noticed anything peculiar, and being appeased straightened out his suit. With that he cracked a small grin and began to walk away.
Hm. Sounds like I have comptetition in the chaotic stakes... we shall have to see about that. *grins in a sinister way* I'll see you on the pitch. Welcome to MRO.
I suppose technically he might, but it's more of the cause of his powers rather than the results...if that makes sense. Anyways, I've taken precautions and given my assurances to make sure he doesn't hit that reality warping plateu. Thanks for the welcome

oooh your characters from Quebec! <3 hehe I think im one of very very few Canadians on the site. Maybe the only one, but I made my characters Raina and Navi from Nunavut. They are Natives *nods* Raina is also a musician and her power is based around singing. Eee welcome to MRO!
You are not the only Canadian here any more, Raina. Just cause you weren't around in the cbox when I said it...
But welcome, Bedlam. It'll be interesting RPing with you. Just got one question, your character being from Montreal and all: is his first language English or French?
Cool cool. Good thing to know. Especially since Lee wouldn't have any more than grade 10 French at the very most (and that'd be 10 years since she took it).
