CharacterPersonality: Madison means well. Her enthusiasm for life is clear and sometimes leads to trouble. She is prone to acting with the best of intentions the moment the thought hits her, leading to a lack of foresight. She’s on the naïve side, so if someone appeals to her curiosity or her kind heart, she is likely to go along with it. She has never been a planner, so her good intentions have a fifty-fifty chance of failing spectacularly. Despite those challenges, it cannot be denied that Madison is genuine.
Madison can be called superstitious, though she would argue she’s devout. She’s fascinated by fate, magic, the powers of the universe and her place amidst them. She will keep her practices to herself unless someone suggests an interest in tarot, astrology, spells, rituals, crystals, luck. Really, give the girl a sign of a window, and she’ll jump through it.
Madison prides herself on being willing to be up for anything, or at least to try anything once. If you want to convince her to do something, frame it as an adventure or an experience, and she’s probably sold. She’s incredibly open-minded and progressive, and reserves judgment only for people who act closed-minded.
Hobbies/ Interests: Playing and listening to music, dancing, witchcraft, tarot, binging media (particularly anything surrounding mythology or folklore), card games
Job or part time job and description: Exotic dancer at Hexes and Hos, Humanities Major at Montclair University with a Comparative Myth and Literature Concentration
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Madison should fear the consequences of her magic and what could be lost in attempting to summon otherworldly creatures. But she does not. She does fear needles and injections though. That’s the reason she doesn’t have tattoos.
Special talents: Madison is an incredible dancer with great rhythm, and that carries over in her ability to play the drums, which she learned in high school. She has also topped in a national Chō-No-Joō! Tournament before.
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other: Madison is, at her core, good! She can be misled into bad decisions, but she does not have a bone of malicious intent in her body. Her intentions can clash with her decision-making ability and curiosity, so she is solidly “chaotic good.”
Feelings toward Mutants: Madison has no ill will toward mutants, though she does feel like something magical has to be involved in explaining how mutation went so extreme with them. She has been told to avoid “dangerous mutants,” but Madi does not know how one would find dangerous mutants without talking to them first.
Feelings toward Humans: Madison likes humans. If anything, she just thinks their lives would be better if they incorporated more magic into them.
Feelings toward Adapteds: Madison barely knows about Adapteds, so her feelings about them are on par with her feelings on humans.
MagicArcana Praeditus: Invocation
Arcana Initium: Illusion
Preferred Foci: Hand Signs, Cards (Tarot or Card Game)
Magical Theme: Entity Summoning
Snap Spell: Summoning Ritual – Card Spirit Avatar
Physical AbilitiesGeneral Physical Capabilities: Madison might have average strength, but she is pretty quick, with the stamina needed to get through night after night of dancing the way she does. She has normal reflexes, but her flexibility is phenomenal.
Fighting Style: Her mother had her take self-defense classes when she decided to start working as a dancer.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Madison could potentially fight off your garden-variety mugger, but she is not ready to go toe to toe with someone who actually trained to fight.
History Of Your CharacterMadison was born to two first generation parents, Caitlyn and Craig, who met growing up in Boston and fell in love as high school sweethearts. Madison was the middle child of three, born in Cambridge after her parents moved to the suburbs to raise their children.
Caitlyn was a practicing Wiccan, so he let his wife take the lead on introducing their daughter to her beliefs, which the young girl took an interest in.
Thanks to her relentlessly possible nature, Madison was good at either making friends or warding people off, the latter of which she was blissfully unaware of. Some people saw her interests and attitude as quirky while others saw her as eccentric or weird. Madison focused on the people who were fine with befriending her for who she was, because she was not good at pretending to be anything else.
Caitlyn and Craig fostered creativity in their daughter, letting her pursue different interests. They lived comfortably enough to give her access to music lessons, dance classes, and art lessons. Caitlyn enjoyed all three, sticking with dance and music into high school.
High school was when Madison dove deeper into studying magic. She wanted to learn different practices and beliefs from other wiccans, pagans, and neopagans. She wanted to be part of a coven of like-minded people who saw the world the way she did, and a few attempts to join them led to Madison unknowingly falling into the wrong crowd.
When it came time for college, Madison was accepted to Montclair University and decided it was a new experience worth exploring. Instead of going to one of the many schools around Boston, she would make a new life in New York. The school was in New Jersey, but she would take a longer commute for her three-day class week in exchange for the benefits of living in the city. She took a job as a dancer for fun and as a way to sustain her finances through school alongside the money her parents granted her.
Madison’s desire to seek out like-minded individuals led to her hearing rumors at a club of a group seeking to bring more magic into the world. Not knowing the extent of the Cult’s plans, she leapt at the chance to learn more about the magic of the universe. One of the Supremes saw the young woman’s enthusiasm and led her through her Imbibement Ceremony. When she “drank” from the font of mystical energy, Madison snapped.
The magic ran through her and latched onto the cards she kept in the deckbox in her purse. The champion illustrated on the top of her deck, a demonic being, manifested in the hall, thrashing around the space and harming two other cultists. The Supreme subdued the summoned beast, and cautioned Madison to focus on learning control over what she summoned into the world as an Invocation Mystic.

Senator Zselyke Lányi Sample RP:Madison rolled out of bed, eyes struggling to flutter open, fighting consciousness. It was one-thirteen, which was around her normal wake-up time. She initially tried to roll to the right side of her bed, but there was a sleeping body there, so she tried again to the left. Her feet felt around the hardwood until she found her fluffy slippers.
Getting to her feet and stretching her arms high as she yawned, Madison moved to the window and adjusted the curtains enough that the light did not hit her bedpartner from the night before. She let the light of day hit her, looking out at the city and the skyline. It was part of her daily ritual, as was the tea she slipped off to brew in her kitchen with some her moon water. She would let two jars charge in the next full moon, because she was using it up quickly these days.
Finally settled in and wrapped in her fuzzy pink robe, Madison grabbed a deck of cards from the desk in her living room.
”Okay, let’s try this again. I have to shuffle.” It did not work when she tried not to shuffle. Maybe it was a way to introduce a degree of entropy and allow the flow of mystical energy to guide the path.
Madison finished shuffling and set down the deck. It was important she did not peek. Last time she tried to peek at even the bottom card of the deck, she did not summon an entity, she summoned sludge. Gross.
Over the deck, Madison grabbed her right wrist with her left hand. Hand out, index and middle finger up, others pointed in. Deep breath. Hand moves down parallel to the earth. All fingers splayed out. Half-turn right, then back. Her left hand released her wrist and waved from right to left over the splayed hand. A pink glow emanated from Madison’s deck, with the same glow tinting her irises.
And with her eyes closed and intent in her heart, Madison drew her card and held it out in front of her. The card glowed and pink mystical energy swirled before her as a figure formed from the light. The light took the shape of a woman, with green witch garb and a green hat forming around her. Madison smiled.
”Oh yay! Coven Summoner Iban!” Not exactly, since she was just an avatar of the card’s “spirit,” but at least she wasn’t sludge!
She also stared vacantly at Madison. She was still learning to motivate the summons beyond base instincts. Iban tilted her head, confused, before an instinct seemed to hit her. And as a windy fae summoner, her instinct was…
Iban raised her staff and wind swirled around the room. It was not a tornado, but certainly more than a stiff breeze. More than enough to blow her class notes and belongings around the room.
”Okay, that’s enough. Probably enough, Iban. Oh, shoot.” Thinking on her feet, Madison took quick steps toward the summon and wrapped an arm around her, using the other to lower the staff. The wind died down. Madison pulled away and Iban was smiling, evidently proud of her little gale.
”We’ll keep working on that. Maybe outside of my living room.”
