Appearance

assumes he was meant to be a long haired tabby of some kind.

Eye Color: Black whites and golden irises with slitted
pupils.
Height: 6'2''
Build: Compact muscles over a willowy frame. He is not too
bulky but very very fit.
Visible mutation: The man is obviously part drug induced
fever dream cat boy monstrosity. He has two fully functioning cat ears on top
of his head and a lengthy semi fluffy cat tail. His nails on his hands and feet
are hardened, sharpened, and slightly curved claws. His base hair color is pink
with purple tabby stripes in it. His entire body is covered in purple tabby
stripes. He has fangs. His eye color is a semi normal cat gold if you can
ignore the black whites.

is unafraid to wear his Ghibli gear in public as well as various other nerd
gear he has acquired over the years.
Character
Personality: Desire is a peculiar person. A bad boy soldier
with a sassy attitude and no sense of shame anywhere in his body. Shame was
literally never there to begin with being born the way he was. He is chaos,
lives in it, and thrives in it. He’s very unsettled when nothing is happening
and cannot comprehend why people can’t just go with the flow of life around
them. Life is to be lived after all and Desire lives to live. Adrenaline junkie
doesn’t even cut it to describe him. He’s jumped out of helicopters into shark
infested waters three miles from shore in the middle of the night. He’s nuts,
he’s ballsy, he’s also gay as the day is long.
There’s something about growing up a minority in every sense of
the word that turned him into a societal outcast. That’s okay with him. The
people who’ve stuck by him are the ones to be treasured (and sent to
psychologists on a regular basis just to check their sanity). He’s loyal to a
fault and he will fall on his sword (you can even pick which one) for a
comrade. Not that he’s suicidal, he isn’t about to throw his life away for
nothing. But he’s still going to go that extra mile to save someone in need no
matter the cost to himself.
He doesn’t like being in total command of a group or situation.
Des works best as the second in command, he’s personable enough to get the
trust of a group and a good leader but he’d rather the tough decisions be left
to someone else. 12 years in the military has given him a healthy dose of
respect for authority. CO says jump and Desire will jump, complaining all the
while. There’s a fine line for him between respect and mindless obedience and
Desire doesn’t do mindless obedience, he’s too much of a cat.
Which goes to the hard part of his personality. Desire is aware
that he can go feral if given enough reason to. He isn’t an angry feral, he’s
in fact a very friendly feral, but it’s still a loss of control he despises.
Still he doesn’t shun his more animalistic tendencies and openly accepts that
he sometimes needs to just go hunting or run around like a madman to keep the
inner cat happy.
Hobbies/ Interests: Dancing, cooking, video games,
volunteering at animal shelters
Job or part time job and description: He would like to work
at the Mansion as a dance instructor or survival teacher
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Snow can trigger flashbacks for
him, but they’re generally manageable and he just shuts himself in a bathroom
stall to cry it out until he can get ahold of himself once more.
Special talents: As a former SEAL Desire is a highly
trained soldier and survival expert. He also has a magical habit of smack
talking his way into sass fights with bullies. A rather odd aspect of him is
that he is a fabulous dancer having studied both ballet and ballroom dancing in
school and pole on the side. He’s also an excellent combat zone driver, having
thus far not gotten any of his team or himself dead through gunfire ieds or
missiles. If put on civilian streets he makes you right with Jesus because
traffic laws aren’t laws just merely guidelines he should occasionally follow.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Chaotic good
Mutations
Mutation description:
If the Cheshire cat were human that human would look exactly like
Desire. The man was born as a colorful catlike mutant and thus he’s got no
wishful thinking of ‘if I hadn’t hit puberty I wouldn’t look like this’. Des
has long ago accepted his flamboyantly pink and purple hair and dark eyes. To
him it’s normal to look like he was vomited up from Lewis Carroll’s drug
induced dreams, it’s other people who have a problem with his looks not him. He
has a catlike sense of smell and better hearing than most. He sees better in
the dark than most people but he still will put on night vision goggles to be
safe in combat situations. He’s more flexible than the average human but it’s
hard to say if that’s because he’s done ballet all his life or if it’s due to
his mutation.
Then comes to the other part of his mutation. Desire can become
intangible and invisible at will. Making him just roll his eyes and flip a bird
at Alice in Wonderland for giving him such a ridiculous combination of traits.
Because it’s definitely a book’s fault he was born this way rather than just
inheriting some of his parents powers.
Invisibility and intangibility is a very loose term for what
Desire does. His molecules become less bonded together, making him more of a
cloud like essence than a solid form. A ghost for lack of a better term. While
you can’t see him you know he’s there, watching, and if you happen to walk
through him you feel like you’ve walked through an ice bath. Which is deeply
disconcerting for both parties involved. Going through any sort of electrical
conduit fries it but it also feels really really weird to Des when he does so.
Something about the energy in electricity reacts to his mutation when he’s
ghosted.
He can affect objects and people around him when he’s in his
intangible invisible form like pick up a cup or ‘touch’ a person’s shoulder. He
so far doesn’t know how to take objects other than his clothing and immediate
possessions into his ghosted form, but it doesn’t matter that much. His power
allows him to be very deadly in combat situations.
Strengths: When you want recon or a stealth kill Des is
definitely your guy. He’s practically unstoppable when he’s in his ghost form.
Nothing can touch him, literally.
Weaknesses and Limitations:
Can only use his power continuously for ten to fifteen minutes
before he becomes super dizzy, shaky, and in need of a ton of calories.
Cannot take objects other than his clothing along with him into
the ghost zone. And that was after several years of training his power in the
SEALS to do that, before he just went starkers when he ghosted.
Going through energy fields is very uncomfortable for him and
sometimes it triggers him to go solid once more.
Can’t hide his mental presence from telepaths and empaths
Animals seem to be able to sense him even when he’s in his ghost
form, so therefore other ferals are likely able to sense him as well.
He cannot use intangibility without going invisible and vice versa
He possesses no super strength when he's ghosted. He's only as strong as he is in physical form but affecting objects while incorporeal tires him out more quickly.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Desire is a better
than average human in all aspects. As a former SEAL he’s had rigorous training
to become an elite soldier. As a dancer he’s got better flexibility than most
and he keeps up with a training schedule to keep himself in peak condition.
Fighting Style: Good old fashioned SEAL combat training
with touches of bar brawling added in for flavor. Who needs weapons when you
have claws? Though he is an excellent marksman if given a gun to shoot. He’s
not a sniper though, doesn’t have the patience for a good kill but he’s still
not going to miss his target either.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: A pro is that he can kick just
about anyone’s ass in hand to hand combat. Up close and personal is his
specialty and he is unafraid to use his powers to make the fight dirty and one
sided. A con is that as a former SEAL he doesn’t know when to pull his punches
and can easily do a helluva lot of damage to a person without meaning to. Only
a year out of the service he’s still got a bit of a ‘take ‘em down hard’ mentality
that isn’t entirely suited for civilian brawling.
History Of Your Character
Desire Amun McGee was born Oct 31st in 1990. He was a
healthy baby and had all of the limbs his mother Bast and his father Tristan
wanted him to have. They were a little shocked at the kitten ears atop their
newborn’s head, and the stubby tail that looked a little odd with its pink and
purple fluff. But as mutants themselves they weren’t overly surprised over the
fact their child ended up being one too. In fact they were more surprised over
the fact that their son was a cat than the fact that he was well… a very
obvious mutant. Both Bast and Tristan were mutants themselves. They had no idea
that their child would look both like them (Des’ pink hair and disconcerting
eyes were presents from his mother while his eventual height and build would
come from his father) and nothing like them all at the same time (Bast was a
dragonlike reptilian mutant and Tristan was a passing as human one).
Having two parents who loved him was a blessing for Desire. He
could come home from the bullying he endured at kindergarten to the warm loving
arms of his ‘um and his papa and not worry about being so different. He had
boundless energy as a kitten and his parents decided to sign him up for ballet
lessons. It was one of the smartest moves they had ever made in regards to him.
He took to the rigorous ballet instructions like a duck to water, slowly
expanding his horizons to ballroom as well. He made friends with his fellow
dancers and instructors, a relief to him since everyone else seemed to visible
scorn him.
He was ten when he first started competing in ballroom competitions.
It was a thrill to be able to dance in front of all those people and know that
they were watching his movements and not staring at his ears. Dancing really
brought out the best in Des as a child.
When 9/11 happened a year after life took a downward turn at
school for him. People shunned him now not just for his mutation, but because
of his ethnicity. ‘Towel head’ is one insult that has always stuck with Des for
its combined ignorance and bigotry. He was half Egyptian for God’s sake not
Afghan. Yes he spoke fluent Arabic but it didn’t mean he was muslim, a
terrorist, or any sort of other foul thing his classmates (and sometimes even
teachers) could think of. Not that being muslim was bad in Des’ book, he just
happened to believe in Jesus, the Pope, and communion.
Still life got better slowly as Des strove to prove himself to
others. He continued to dance and even was allowed to go to a performing arts
high school in Dekalb to keep up his skills. It was one day during his junior
year that something drastic happened. He was driving on his way to school when
a semi-truck t-boned him at an intersection. He should’ve been killed but
instead his secondary mutation kicked in and he was phased out of the car naked
as the day he was born but uninjured.
Des began to play around with his new mutation. Finding out he
could turn invisible as well as intangible at the same time (making him decide
on his own to just give into fate and nickname himself Cheshire) but not take
anything with him. He used it sparingly, disliking the shaky super hungry
feeling he’d get after using it.
His parents offered to pay for college for him, but Desire
declined, instead stating that they needed to save up to send Alyce his younger
sister to university and eventually to a doctoral program because she was one
smart bunny (literally his sister is a bunny girl). He instead signed up for
the Navy, a longstanding tradition on his father’s side of the family.
Desire worked his tail off to get into the Special Forces training
program. It had always been a dream to him to show those idiotic naysayers back
at home that insisted he was lesser and dangerous to everyone else that he was
better than they were and could protect what was his. They were a little
reluctant to let him in. he didn’t blend in well in a crowd and being a mutant
was almost as bad as being gay in their eyes, but he changed their mind through
sheer grit and determination. Any task given to him was completed above and
beyond expectations, and they began to see the usefulness of a soldier who
could ghost through enemy lines to get a high profile target. The SEALs took
him, putting him through the nine levels of hell to strengthen his mutation and
groom him to become the perfect special ops killer. He’s got a little bit of
regret that he’s killed as many people as he has, but it’s not so much that it
keeps him awake at night. Des can say for certain he’s never killed a civilian
and everyone he has murdered has literally been a very bad person.
Life seemed to go along swimmingly for awhile. He made friends in
his unit, rose in rank to become the XO after a particularly interesting
mission that had him defending a port by himself for a day until backup
arrived. Then his final mission with the SEALs came. It was a complete disaster.
The mission had been to infiltrate and take out a terrorist group in Siberia.
The mission went sideways as soon as it began with a telepath in the terrorist
group picking up on their presence as soon as they got within range. What had
once been a routine op turned into a bloodbath, Desire’s unit getting
massacred, himself getting captured, tortured, and eventually traded back to
the States.
After the debrief and medical leave he took an honorable
discharge. He’d proven himself enough to last a lifetime and he didn’t want to
come back in a box for his family to bury. Half a year went by, Des took up a
gig as a dancing instructor, when he was contacted by the government. They
wanted him to infiltrate a mutant organization and keep tabs on it for them.
Desire told them to shove it, but was intrigued nonetheless. A mutant
organization in the states with kids? Was it a good place or a bad place? Were
the kids safe? A seed was planted in Des once more as the desire to protect
flared back up.
So he researched the X-mansion, X-men, and New York police to the
best of his ability. It sounded like fun and he saw that the curriculum offered
no dancing lessons so he packed up his bags and moved, hoping against hope that
he could wrangle a job and a spot on the x-men.

Well there was one thing no one had warned Des about in New York
and that was the traffic. It wasn’t as bad as say Manila’s traffic, where you
had to dodge pedestrians, cars, jeepnes, and the occasional animal. It was
congested like a kid’s nose during allergy season in Georgia. Nothing quite
like pollen season where pollen was so thick you could write your name on your
car. Even people without allergies suffered from the hazy yellow clouds. New
York had different kinds of clouds, a hazy gray that enveloped the city. It
could’ve been the weather itself, he’d just had to pick his moving date to when
a winter storm was hitting.
His ears twitched in disgruntled irritation. He hated snow. Devil’s
white powder it was. Cold and wet and gross, making everything ten times more
dangerous. Snow was nasty and his enemy and very very evil. He’d rather walk on
hot coals than walk barefoot in the snow that’s how much he hated it. He was
nuts moving here. He was going to be turned down flat.
There was still a smidgeon of hope though for him. He was here to
help kids like him have a better future. To give them hope that they could make
something of themselves no matter what they looked like. Before he had left the
SEALs he’d been highly successful and proud of his job. Even now as a freelance
dance teacher he was proud of what he did. Nothing he had hadn’t come without
hard work. Nothing had been easy for him, well dancing had been easy for him
but it was neither here nor there. He still wanted to show kids that they could
be somebody regardless of their looks or cultural ties.
‘um had been hesitant to let him move up here. She’d grown
overprotective of him ever since he’d come home from the service. It was the
scar he knew, where he’d been obviously tortured, but he didn’t let that bring
him down. When you looked like an anime superhero growing up your standards of
beauty were a little bit skewed. He found beauty in himself even when he was so
obviously a damaged cat boy and if anyone thought otherwise in a non joking
manner they could put it in the suck it bucket.
That reminded him that he had to call the local VA and tell them
he was there. It was common curtesy to let them know that he was in the area.
Not that he planned on using their services, he couldn’t go to groups because
his file was hip deep in red tape, he didn’t need medical assistance, and he
was hoping that maybe he could get a room at the mansion. If he couldn’t he had
enough to pay for an apartment of some kind but he figured better to live with
the kids and be one extra layer of protection just in case some asshole decided
to try and murder them. A sadly frequent occurrence in other parts of the
country.
“Ah this must be it. Shoo this looks fancy wonder what it looks
like on tha inside.”
