Everyday clothing style: Elliot dresses as if he left the house in a rush. He cares very little for modern society's trends and expectations and often wears whatever he wants. He favours quirky clothes such as Patterned Dunagrees, Hawaian shirts, bright coloured boots, etc. His clothes are often mismatched and he may leave the house wearing a Bright Yellow Doc Marten boot on one foot and a Vans trainer on the other. If it's a particularly rough day for him he might just be wearing socks. He has recently acquired a yellow denim jacket and has been wearing it for about 2 weeks straight.

CharacterPersonality: In the waking world Elliot comes across as very lathargic, lazy and uninterested. His eyes are often haflidded or shut and he is often seen leaning his head against objects, people or with it cradled in his arms. He speaks in a very slow, deliberate manner and often mumbles or simply responds in groans and sighs. When he does speak he frequently interrupts himself with yawns. "That is so much effort." Is a phrase said by him so often that it may as well be his catchphrase. The only times he seems to snap into action is when there is an immediate threat to his life, then his eyes go from half-lidded to three quarters lidded. His drowsy, unassuming personality is vastly contrasted by his personality in the dream world.
While in the dreamscape, Elliot is a total megalomaniac, completely obsessed with himself and his own power, comparing himself to nothing short of Godhood. He is arrogant, cocky, mischievous and rude, often referring to Dreamers with derogatorynicknames such as Dearie, Pet, Petal, Sweetheart, Ant, Worm, Etc. He is unattainably ambitious and has aspirations of a world where he is worshipped as a God in both the waking world and the dreamscape. His massive shift in confidence and attitude is clearly an overcompensation for how neutered and weak he feels while disconnected from his powers in the waking world, which he tries to spend as little time in as possible, often sleeping for days at a time, living out his power fantasy in his own, or other people's, dreams. He thoroughly enjoys mischief and pranks, often presenting himself as people's Inner Most Thoughts/Self Conscience in their dreams or trying to make them believe that they have been visited by the new God of the modern age - although anyone who knows him or has experience with psychic mutants may be able to discern that he's just another mutant with a massive power fantasy.
Hobbies/Interests: Elliot has little interest in the waking world but in the dreamscape he has been a painter, a musician, a lover, a celebrity, a singer but these don't nessecarily convert to the real world. He can paint sure, but he found himself endless frustrated when he picked up a guitar and didnt instantly know how to use it. His interests include, being worshipped, world domination and hearing his own voice.
Job or part time job and description: Elliot currently has no job and still lives with his parents.
Fears/phobias/concerns: Having his mutation taken from him is probably his biggest fear. Its the only good thing he has going for him in his opinion and without it he wouldn't have any hope for his own future. He's also the psionic equivalent of a keyboard warrior if someone he were interacting with in their heads were to find him in person he could quickly be overpowered by anyone with any form of training.
Special talents: Elliot is very creative and has come up with thousands of ideas and stories in his head. He will probably never put them to paper but a side effect of this has left him very imaginative and he is able to create convincing fictions on the spot.
MoralityGood/bad/ neutral/ other: Elliot is True Neutral. His actions are self serving and he is most likely to use them to progress his own goals or to insure he always comes out on top. He will rarely have the effort in him to do something for the 'greater good' or to further some evil overlord's schemes, unless he thought there was a way he could further cement his own ambitions.
MutationsMutation description: Dream Manipulation - Elliot has the ability to enter, view and control both his own and other people's dreams.
Strengths: Elliot's abilities while in the dream realm can be compared to total Reality Manipulation. He can create entire scenarios, worlds, vivid imagery and sounds, induce sensations and communicate clearly with someone in their dreams. He has complete control over his own body and shape and often chooses to appear as a giant pink skinned demonic figure with horns and purple fire where his hair should be. If he wishes he may also be a silent observer of someone's dreams, simply watching that they're dreaming about of their own volition. If these people try to recall the dream hard enough they may remember him standing, silently in the background. While in the dream realm he can distort the perception of time, causing a 10 minute nap to feel like 3 hours. He can use this power to create terrible nightmares, horrible visuals and sounds. Any dream he alters, creates or affects, the dreamer becomes fully conscious as if they were Lucid dreaming and the dream will stay in the dreamer's head much longer than a normal dream would, with them able to remember it vividly for atleast a few days before it begins to fade.
Weaknesses and Limitations: Elliot can only enter and control the dreams of those who are asleep, and he himself must be asleep to do so. A major downside to this power is that while in the dreamscape he can appear as an all powerful Godlike figure, in the waking world he is a scrawny boy who is easily physically overpowered. The maximum range that he can control someone's dreams is three miles and he can view them from up to 5 - he must atleast have some sort of knowledge about the person who's dreams he plans on invading. The more he knows them and the closer they are the more intense his control over their dreams will be. If they are within 1 mile he has complete control over their dreams and is able to do pretty much anything. He can create intricate scenarios, embrassing situations and communicate with them clearly. If he is 2 miles away he begins to lose control over the dream. He can no longer create entire towns or cities, and is instead limited to creating rooms or single buildings at a time. He still maintains control over his own shape and limited control over his size. He begins to lose his ability to control the perception of time, no longer able to string the feeling of the dream on for days and instead can only make it feel like a few hours. From 3 miles away Elliot's control over the dreams is very limited, restricted to creating single objects, sounds or images. He has a very limited control over the perception of time, only able to stretch it out for an hour at most. He can still change his own shape, as it is his and his alone, but he can no longer alter his size, being restricted to his own body's regular size. From 4 miles away he can only observe dreams and can barely muster a whisper in their ear. From 5 miles away he can only hear their dreams and see blurry visuals. He can only stay inside someone's head for one real world hour but of course, with his ability to distort the perception of time, that can be a very long hour.
If the person who's dreams he is altering or viewing is awoken while he's in there, Elliot's connection to them is abruptly snapped and this will shock him awake in the real world. Waking up this way is incredibly unhealthy and can leave Elliot feeling nauseous, dizzy, disorientated and with an intense migraine.
If somebody is trained in resisting psychics or has psionic abilities of their own then they may repel Elliot's influence over their dreams if they recognise that he is an outside force and not one of their own creation, as he hasn't encountered much resistance before they will usually succeed. While he is within 1 mile the dreamer's control over their dreams will be incredibly limited, it won't even feel like their dream at all. From 2 miles away, they may have some control over it as he isn't able to dominate their dreamscape as much as he normally would. From 3 miles away their control over the dream is more complete than his. Anyone who's dreams he is influencing's eyes in the real world will begin to rapidly flicker and move and will change colour to match his own altered pink and purple eyes, allowing people who know his work to know he's doing something and to possibly intervene.
Elliot can not gain any knowledge he doesn't already know by entering someone's dreams. The only way he can learn things from people's dreams is by passively observing their naturally occuring ones or by forming scenarios in which he might be able to trick them into telling him certain information. He could also just ask. This method of 'mind reading' couldn't typically be classified as that and could instead of be regarded as more like an interview or a game. If someone is aware that he is an outside force trying to probe them they can simply dismiss his efforts or play around his questions.
While Elliot's control in the dream world is absolute, he cannot actually cause physical harm to someone. He might be able to psychologically damage somebody but he can't cause any damage to their real world bodies.
Mutation description: Sleep Inducement - Elliot is capable of inducing tiredness and placing other people into a deep sleep.
Strengths: This ability has both a passive effect and a more direct, active one. Those around Elliot will feel themselves becoming more drowsy as their brains gradually start producing more melatonin. This aura starts at 15 feet from Elliot and grows stronger the closer someone gets to him. He can also force people to fall asleep much more rapidly if he makes physical contact with them. A side effect of this power is that Elliot does not need to sleep, he can stay awake for as long as he wants. He can also cause himself to sleep for as long as he wants and he cannot be woken up by anything other than himself, his Mom, an Adrenalin shot to the heart or a psychic's intervention.
Weaknesses and Limitations: The aura attached to this ability is incapable of rendering someone unconscious, just very tired. He requires skin on skin contact in order to make someone fall asleep and the speed at which they do depends on where he touches them with the effect growing stronger the closer to their brain he is. If he touches their forehead it happens in under a second. The back of their head will take 2-3 seconds, allowing them time to react. If he were to touch their torso it would take about 20-30 seconds and if he is grabbing an extremity such as their wrist or ankle it can take anywhere from 40 seconds to a minute depending on their weight. Someone who he puts to sleep this way will be asleep for as long as he's making physical contact or for 5-10 minutes afterwards.
Both the aura and the contact parts of this ability are both psionic in nature and if someone has any experience or training in repelling psychics they'll be able to shake off the aura fairly easily. They could even resist the physical contact portion if they know what he's trying to do and counteract it. If someone is fully covered it's going to be much harder for him to make somebody sleep. If he tries to sedate someone who never needs to sleep or is incapable of sleeping due to some sort of mutation or condition then they will be immune to both aspects of this power.
While this power means that Elliot doesn't have to sleep and can make himself sleep for as long as he wants he is permanently in a state of sleepiness. Forever on the brink of falling asleep but never fully crossing over without his consent. This leaves his slow and drowsy. Also while he could theoretically sleep forever, his body still exists and still has needs. He still needs to eat and drink and has woke up having peed himself more than once. His body will force itself awake if it feels like he is going to die from dehydration.
If he is rudely awoken by the means stated above then he will experience the same effects as being ejected from someone's dreams.
Another side effect is that Elliot's eyes are more sensitive to light than most. A subtle physical mutation that encourages him to stay in the dark and sleep, hence his fondness for sunglasses and umbrellas. This does not improve his ability to see in the dark.
Physical AbilitiesGeneral Physical Capabilities: Elliot has slower reflexes than most people. He isn't very strong or fast as he clearly doesn't exercise much.
Fighting Style: Elliot has no specific fighting style in a physical confrontation would either surrender or resort to kicking and screaming and trying to grab onto them long enough for them to become sedated.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Anyone with any sort of training could take it out pretty easily. Anyone who is fully clothed will be much harder to put to sleep.
History Of Your CharacterElliot's parents migrated to America from Germany in 1990. Elliot wasn't born until the year 2000 and he was raised in an apartment complex in New York. His childhood was fairly unassuming however he did go through a period of being bullied due to his unusual surname. This bullying left him with some confidence issues and he felt powerless, which later spurred his megalomania.
Elliot's life didn't start getting unusual until he was 15. It started small, he felt tired all the time. His parents originally thought it was an iron deficiency or something but the tests came back negative. He gradually began sleeping for longer periods of time and his eyes began to darken. People in his apartment complex started talking about weird dreams, some of them having similiar or exactly the same dreams all featuring the same horned figure. They dismissed it as some sort of spooky coincidence. Sixth months after the first signs of his powers began to creep in, they blossomed in glorious fashion. Elliot was stood in the kitchen with his parents, before he suddenly fell unconscious. While his father tried to rouse him they noticed his eyes flickering rapidly as if he were in REM sleep. His hair rapidly faded from it's dark brunette to a very pale light pink and he opened his eyes wide, still unconscious. Suddenly in a flash of pink light, everyone in the apartment complex (and some on the street outside) fell unconscious instantly. They were all asleep for about 10 minutes. They all reported the same thing when they woke up, they had all dreamed of a giant, purple, flame headed figure. Every single person from the apartment complex rememebered standing side by side, staring at this gigantic figure which towered over them, glaring down from what seemed like miles above them.
Elliot was the only one who didn't awaken. His parents kept him in his bedroom. He was asleep for a week. During that week every person in the building suffered strange vivid dreams and terrible nightmares, with the one common denominator being the flame headed man. When he finally awake it took him days to physically recover. But it didn't take him long to notice his new abilities. His parents, terrified of what would happen if anyone suspected their son was responsible for what the people in the building started referring to as 'the sleepy night' kept his new appearance and strange sleeping habits a secret. This burst of power from him was seemingly a one off, a huge spike in strength due to his powers suddenly bursting to the surface, as he hasn't been able replicate it, walk in the dreams of more than one person at a time or put someone to sleep without touching them since.
It was pretty obvious that he was a mutant. They'd seen them on TV and heard of them and his strange eyes were a dead giveaway. It took him a few months to finally begin to control his powers and understand them. Everynight atleast one person in the building reported having a strange dream or intense nightmare. Many started to spread the rumour that the apartment complex was simply haunted. Some moved out, others brought in 'psychic mediums' to see if there were any tormented spirits, most of them frauds. One of them actually was a mutant capable of speaking with the dead but since there was no undead spirit responsible they found nothing.
Only when Elliot started getting a grasp on his abilities did the nightmares and strange dreams begin to stop. Mostly. The more his abilities developed the more jaded and tired with the waking world he became. He began voluntarily spending as long as he could asleep without suffering serious medical problems such as dying of dehydration. His parents, determined to support their child, pulled him out of school and have dedicated their time to helping him. As far as they're concerned their poor boy is a victim to an unfortunate mutation and it must be kept a secret. They have no idea that while he slept peacefully he was filling his head with false depictions of himself as an all powerful god. He spent what felt like years in his own head, ruling over kingdoms and world of his own creation. And occasionally, pranking the neighbours. He once convinced two of them that the other was out to get them by whispering sinister dreams into their ears.
But he has grown bored of the confines of his apartment building. He wishes to see the waking world so he can meet new people and meddle with new dreams. He has grown tired of ruling false people he has created inside his own dreams. He will not play pretend anymore. He wants a taste of what he achieves in the dream world in the waking one too. And much like the lazy turtle, he is determined to slowly and steadily acquire it.
RoleplayWhat’s your OOC alias?: HomewreckerWhere did you learn about this site?: N/A
Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: SlickSample RP:A dark obsidian city floated suspended in an infinite purple void. The City's skyscrapers were solid windowless blocks of stone and the entire cityscape had but one occupant. Agnes. Agnes the rude neighbour from downstairs. Agnes the lady who was always mean to mom over nothing. Agnes the woman who was constantly making noise complaints for no reason. She'd learn. She'd learn what happens when you cross the divine will of Elliot Kirby.
The divine will of The Daydream. The old lady walked through the hollow streets, lost underneath the purple sky and black buildings. With a thought, Elliot caused the skies to spiderweb with purple lightning. The lightning flashes caused a silhouette of his form to become visisble, which dwarfed her by thousands of meters. The decrepit hag covered her head and screamed, and Elliot lifted his huge, scale covered hand and threw it down open paled, as if he were about to crush her brittle body. When it touched her, it faded through her body like smoke and through the ground she was standing on.
The floor quaked beneath her and a hand shaped slab of the pitch black stone raised up, cupping the woman and carrying the woman into the air. She screamed and fell against it's palm as she was lifted higher and higher, the cityscape becoming nothing but a dot in the distance. From the abyss the huge monstrous horned face of Elliot manifested. Through her whimpers the woman managed a meek
"W-what do you want from me?"
Elliot let out a deep, booming laugh. It rattled through the air and rang on inside her head for much longer. Oh, how much joy it brought him to see this tyrannical woman literally melting like putty within his grasp. The Obsidian hand glasped around her and brought her in close to his fanged mouth.
"What do I want with you? You puny little mortal..." The air around them began to darken and swirl, with the epicenter being directly underneath the stone slap she lay on.
"What could I possibly want with an insignificant little wretch like yourself? You dare assume that I want or need you to do anything?"
Elliot. He let out another laugh and without any coherent transition the old lady was suddenly being suspended by her feet, dangling above the spiraling abyss. He leaned in close and grinned, displaying his sharp, jagged teeth. Just another little morsel for him to play with. Utterly powerless to stop him.
"I could do anything i wanted to you, i could crush your entire body or plunge you into the endless nothingness Agnes, where you'd fall until the end of time." She whimpered again.
Elliot."Please I'll do anything just don'-' Elliot loosened his grip on her ankle, causing her to drop a few inches. The blackness around them began circling in, like a razor sharp spiral, threatening to slice her into bits and consume her entire being. His eyes began to flare with dark fire and his voice grew deeper, more distorted.
"There is nothing you could ever do for me Agnes, you should be worried about what I could do to yo-'ELLIOT!He paused. Bit by bit parts of the pitch black backdrop began to flake away, like dust on the wind. The fire in his eyes stopped. His voice lowered back down to it's original pitch and spoke hastily, knowing his time was rapidly running out.
"But-if-you-could-treat-the-people-in-apartment-5B-nicer-that-would-be-great, thank you Agnes!" He quickly gave her a kiss on the forehead before dropping her, sending her falling, screaming, seemingly forever into the hungry darkness below. The scenario went from slowly flaking into a bright white to rapidly shattering like glass.
Elliot shot up, gasping
'thank you Agnes!" His body was slick with sweat. He looked around, his messy bedroom, cast in a lazy light which slithered in through his blinds and a sharp stink invaded his nose.
Where was he? What day was it? Who was that staring at him? It was... oh... it was his Mom. He was at home. In bed. Like he always was.
"Elliot sweetie, dinner's ready, c'mon you need to eat it's been three days." She said before walking off, leaving the door to his room wide open. Three days? That explained the smell. Elliot looked at his hands, a little disorientated. He clenched his fists and imagined himself in the kitchen and to his frustration did not suddenly find himself there. Reality logic is nowhere near as fun as dream logic. He rolled his eyes and like a fed up, lathargic slug he poured himself out of bed onto the floor in a puddle before he faded upwards. He gave a big stretch, the cracks that his spine let out sounded like firecracker before his posture fell into it's natural slouched position. He began slowly walking towards the hallway, dragging his feet along the carpet every step of the way.
He paused, and took in the silence. Well.
It was almost silence. If you listened carefully, you could hear Agnes crying in her bedroom below.
Elliot let out a devious smile before closing his bedroom door.
