The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Personality: Cari has been a firm believer in human-mutant coexistance since she was a child. Both her parents were kind, generous souls and Cari adopted their altruistic nature. She's very optimistic, almost to a fault, but always sincere and never hyperactive. She's cool-headed individual, but not always the most creative because has a very practical mind. She thinks of boys only as friends, and disregards any potential love life because she thinks it doesn't fit into her current life position.
Allegiance: Good
Everyday Clothing: Cari wears a 5/8's sleeve maroon, v-neck shirt with a fitted, off white vest that reaches just above her bellybutton. The vest has three gold buttons down the middle and she wears a long, bright red cashmere scarf around her neck. She wears dark skinny jeans tucked into tall, chocolate leather boots. Uniform: Her school uniform from her private highschool. Pajamas: Tight, black sweatpants and a bright pink cami.
Hair Color and Style: Light, dirty blonde with a slight wave. Eye Color: Blueish-grey Height: Five feet, eight inches. Build: Slender, Althletic build.
Scars: On the palm of her hand she has two fire scars across her palm. Tattoos: None Piercings: Two in each ear at the bottom
Description of Abilities: [+]Ability Magnification -- Cari's ability allows her to touch other mutants and enhance their powers as if they had raised a level in their abilities. At this point, she can only do so when physically touching others, but it has been proven that if she improves she could be simply in range of others and upgrade their powers without contact. [+]Ability Sensing -- This is Cari's most powerful ability. Even as a child she was acutely aware of those around her and could easily sense other mutants from further away as she grew. She can sense the powers even a child would eventually posess before they have reached puberty and their abilities had taken effect. This power works as wavelengths that she recieves from each mutant and every one has their own wavelength and pulse, but those with similar powers are more alike and those who are powerful are more easily sensed. [+]Ability Absorption -- This has only happened on one occasion and Cari isn't sure herself if she even really has this power. It happened in a case of extreme danger, but Cari thinks it might be there.
Cons of Abilities: [+]Ability Magnification -- Cari's power is uncontrollable and though she can touch others, she has to be careful. For example, if she touched someone who shot spikes from their body, their spikes would grow to be two times as big and has the possibility to shoot out and kill her instantly. This danger is slightly reduced by her sensing ability, but everyone's power reacts differently. Also, she cannot turn off her power so it's easy to take advangtage of her power if a mutant chose to. [+]Ability Sensing -- If there are many new mutants around, Cari's mind can be clouded and she cannot focus correctly. The longer she spends time with others the more she spends time with mutants the more she adapts to their wavelength, but the more powerful a mutant is the harder it is to adapt. As powers of mutants grow, their wavelengths slowly change and she can lose touch easily since mutants are constantly growing until they reach their peak. [+]Ability Absorption -- Seeing as how it's extremely undeveloped, it only surfaces when Cari is in extreme danger.
Fighting Style: Cari has never learned to fight and has never fought anyone with anything but words in her life. She oftens tries to negotiage when put in an argumentative position. She isn't against fighting, she's just inexperienced.
Brief Biography: Cari grew up in a wealthy society with her parents who were always part of the political fight for mutant-human coexistance. Once Cari was three years old, her parents became leaders in the fight and moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to Washington DC. They would often have important guests, both human and mutant and so Cari was assimilated into upper class world as she grew. She joined a private academy and became an outspoken young lady. She never told her parents of her sensing abilities, but they were always curious of how she knew about their mutant visitors before they had even told her. About two years after reaching puberty, she was shaking the hand of a visitor who had fire generation abilities and as soon as she touched him, his body lit on fire like a glowing torch and as she pulled her burned hand, that's when she realized she was more than just a mutant detector. Her parents were overjoyed, an uncommon reaction to most other mutants, and promised to accept her for her abilities. However, Cari wasn't sure she wanted that life. Even if she had fought for mutant equality her whole life, she was afraid of her own power. Like many, she left her family in search of others who could help her with her power and her parents accepted her decision and promised she would always have a home. Cari left and travelled for about a year when she met up with another mutant who was a retired political man and he helped her develop her sensing ability, but left her magnification alone, fearing it's power. Once he had helped her as much as he thought he could, he advised her to go to Xavier's School for Gifted Children.
Now she is on her way to joining the school and becoming a mutant who works for human and mutantkind.
Sample RP: Slinging her backpack reluctantly over her delicate shoulder, Cari picked up her crimson scarf from the chair before her and wrapped it once around her neck to protect from the chill she knew she would encounter as she left her home. Her greyblue eyes began to gloss over as they lifted and took in the sight of her parents. They were so loving.. so .. caring and yet she knew she couldn't stay. No mutant stayed here for long, but then again, she always knew she was a mutant. Her soft lips parted and a saddened breath escaped as a tear began down her pale cheek. "Mom.." she whispered, trying to remember why she was going, "Please don't look at me like that.." Her mother turned away and pressed herself into her husband's chest. "I'm sorry Dad. You know I'll be back," Cari continued with a more hopeful spirit. She knew her father would understand, he knew the life of a mutant inside out and was probably the only human who ever did. Her bag slowly dropped from it's place and she ran to her parents one last time holding them as closely as she could as they returned the embrace as if they were never going to let go. "I love you," her mother whispered softly in her ear. Cari smiled and after what seemed like only a moment she pulled away and ran towards the door, snatching up her bag along the way. "I'll call you when I get there! Love you guys!"
Woah... Your powers are the stuff of Calley's nightmares. Interesting! Welcome to MRO.
May I ask for more details on how her power detection ability works? Is it a psychic ability thing, or something else? If a power is entirely inactive for one reason or another, would she still be able to sense it? With regards to the wavelengths: does she need to have experienced a similar "wavelength" to recognize what a power is, or is the knowledge somewhat innate? Last question for now: does it work with animals?
Lol I know! She's vulernable, but she will put up a fight. I'm glad you like her! She's like a little female Prof. X! I love him.
Wow! You guys post quick lol
Thanks for the welcomes! <3 I'm soooo glad to be on a fully active Xmen RP site!
Regarding her sensing ability. She would have to be very close, and concentrate hard to sense children's and inactive powers, but she could do it. It doesn't work on animals unless they aren't really animals and it's not really a "psychic" power I guess.. it goes under the sensing ability on her attributes profile.
Can't you really, though? *winks at Quinn* Just some background for you, Cari: my Calley/Slate character is a spy who can shift to any animal. He's been doing very well so far, because he hasn't had to deal with anyone who could easily out him as a mutant, in any of his forms. Panic panic panic! He also has a lot of odd things going on with him at the moment--like a split personality, who effectively makes his shifting abilities dormant behind a few very nice mental shields.
Okay... thank you for the answers. That makes things much clearer for me. From here, I suppose I'll just have to see if we end up in threads together... and then, things could get very interesting, very fast.
And lol, yeah... welcome, indeed, to an active site. Weren't expecting this many replies so quick, were you? I do hope you like it here. I know I have.
Oh! Just noticed I didn't get an answer for this one: "With regards to the wavelengths: does she need to have experienced a similar 'wavelength' to recognize what a power is, or is the knowledge somewhat innate?" Which is to say: will your character just know that Calley is a shifter, or will she be able to jump immediately to "he can shift to any animal"?
She'll know he's a shifter, but not what kind. If she was say.. in his arms, she could probably tell. She has to know who it is, or what it is, to really focus and find those things out. She feels wavelengths and basically identifies them.
Ah, excellent, excellent. That makes me less inclined to avoid threads with your chara in them like the plague.
Oh! And I noticed in your member's area page you put a link to this profile--a lot of us link directly from all our posts to our profiles, by putting the link in the "signature" field on that page were you modded your name from.
