The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It seemed as that, in spite of her confidence, she wasn't experienced in battle; her movements were clumbsy, even considering she seemed unjured already. Maybe her abilities made it so she didn't often need to fight with any skill?
She replied to his statement about showing him more with... bedroom talk? He didn't exactly draw a connection. He blinked inbetween sidestepping to stay out of her range, steering her around in a few neat circles. "What does that have to do with-" Was she... was this getting her...
He grinned again.
She reached over and pulled a drainage pipe from the wall. Notably, the brackets stayed in place. She'd made it immaterial for a moment. That gave him a better answer than super strength. She was dangerous. That being said, she was absolutely hitting on him. He laughed at the low brow joke, and stepped in, where the momentum of the blow from the long weapon would be lessened. From there, he would step that extra half step to be right in her face. Knowing she wouldn't be strikable, though, he simply leaned in and muttered through a grin.
"I am better with mine."
Wink.
He quickly jumped back three little hops to make some range, readying his two blades once more. This put him close to the father, who had managed to pry open a trapped piece of sheet metal to reveal a narrow passage inbetween the two buildings.
He neatly dodged her attack. Her side and shoulder winced from the action. The weapon went willingly out of her hands with his fancy sword work or whatever and he was suddenly in her space. She was anticipating an attack, braced for it and phased everything but her toes.
...only for him to drop an innuendo and wink at her, before deftly dancing back.
She blinked, stunned for a moment. This dude wasn't taking her seriously at all, like-
"Ah, @#$%." Her wounds panged and she leaned over for a moment to support herself on her knees. Goddamn @#%$in' James and his stupid mutation. He'd really worked her over already, and then she'd had to suffer through days of punishment even after all that.
He didn't seem like he was going to attack her again right that moment, so she gave herself a tiny rest. Really, she wasn't sure how much actual fighting she could handle in her current condition. It felt like a strong wind could knock her over.
"Empty words, pretty boy. Gotta back up a declaration like that with proof or you're just bluffin'."
Straightening and gripping her ribs on the left side with one hand, she kicked her shoes off and sighed.
"I think I'm done playing, though."
Her toes gripped the rough, charred concrete. This must have been where the guy had initially been attacked. "... I'm pretty curious as to why someone who can fight like you would resort to barbequing someone. Seems kinda lazy."
She spotted the cloaked figure behind him trying to make an exit, and her expression darkened.
The ground directly in front of Raijin suddenly phased. The pipe she had used as a weapon dropped, as well as anything else lingering on the ground in the area around him. He'd just managed to step within the range of Tash's aura.
Juniper, noticing that he wasn't falling in to get trapped with everything else, pulled her power back and looked really, really confused.
"...Huh?" Was her power glitching again? Crap! She needed to end this soon, or maybe make a run for it.
Hmm, she really was beat up, wasn't she? It made the fight less fun, honestly. Still she fired words back at him, and he grinned once more. "Don't temp me, Loli-chan." He raised an eyebrow as she took off her shoes. Right here and now? He wasn't sure he was ready for such a change in pace! And in front of a priest!
She asked about the burning man, and he looked slightly confused. "Huh? Oh, that was not me. I don't see the point of killing someone so painfully." He motioned to the man behind him. "I am just here keep him from dying."
His grin dropped as everything in front of him dropped into the ground, as if the earth itself had become immaterial. Up to a certain range, where he could see the pipe she'd dropped tilt on a fulcrum of earth that she wasn't affecting. A glance back to the father told him he was within his range.
She'd been planning to drop him. He wondered what would happen if he were sent into the earth like that. It would be a terribly embarrasing way to die. Dark brown irises jumped back up to her. She wasn't hoping to lay with him, after all.
This was a battle to the death, and she had quite an advantage. He could always hide in the priest's aura, but that would be a coward's way. He was no coward.
Pulling his crest parallel to the ground, he jumped onto it, and launched himself forward, moving the crest under himself as he went to use it as a platform.
He doubted she could make magic immaterial. The fight was still on! "Let us dance more, Loli-Chan!" He swung his blade in a wide arc to see if he could find purchase on anything.
What in the seven hells kind of a nickname was that? Sounded like something out of one of the Manga's she had been reading.
Thoroughly annoyed that she hadn't been able to trap the both of them and be done with the fight, she pushed past that annoyance a little bit and listened to him as he explained that he hadn't actually killed the guy. The guy behind had.
Juniper's expression deadpanned and she slumped a little. All of that time and effort wasted on some guy who wasn't even the murderer? How @#$%ing annoying!
Sword dude did some kind of fancy footwork that lifted him off of the ground and rushed at her with an exclamation and that nickname again, and her patience snapped like a dry stick of spaghetti. Huh. So he'd figured that out pretty quick. This guy was like a real professional fighter then?
"THAT ISN'T MY NAME!" Rage in such a small form rarely ever elicited fear in anyone taller than her, or anyone who knew her. She didn't often go around intending to hurt someone unless they really deserved it in her mind. This guy, even though he was attacking her, hadn't made that list yet. He was annoying, but not a murderer.
"If you didn't murder him, then why-"
He swung his sword in a graceful arch that flew right through her phase upper body. She wasted no time in darting forward and reaching for him. Her fingers finally found purchase around the expensive-looking belt holding his pants up. She felt his skin against her knuckles and knew she finally had him.
"-Am I even wasting my time on you!?"
She phased him completely, lifted him up in once quick smooth motion, turned, and chucked him as hard as she could into the air. She was aiming to throw him as far away as possible from the alley, past the body on the sidewalk, to put distance between him and her while she took care of the other one.
Her shoulder throbbed in pain again after she'd let off him, and she watched him sail off for just a moment before deciding to turn back to face the other guy. Oddly enough, when she glanced down at her hand she found his belt still clasped in it..... oops!
Her full weight hit her all of a sudden, mid-turn, and every sore muscle in her body protested all at once.
The look on the oafish swordsman's face when the woman reached for his belt was embarassingly sinful. He earned the look of surprise the came as she then flung him off into the distance. However, he victory would be short lived.
Now that the bigger Raijin was not in the way, the father was able to see her face when he looked back. He knew her. Grace. Perhaps not so graceful, though. A demon in disguise the whole time. Any to think, he almost let her into the flock. Underneath his mask his face twisted into a look of disgust. SINNER! LIAR! DEMON!
He found himself walking toward her as she watched Raijin fly off. By the time she turned back, he was nearly upon her, his gloved hand reaching out to grasp at her throat.
"I wonder, then... What is your name?"
Masked featured peered into her very soul for a long moment, before he growled. If only he'd prepared for a second baptism. For now, if he killed her, he would only send her back to hell. It would not be god's work.
"One day, you will burn for your transgressions, child. Wait patiently until then."
His other hand closed into a fist, and he released his hold, only to send a decisive blow toward her already frail and beaten form.
By the time Raijin returned from his absence, the girl would be out, and the priest would be gone.
His hand closed around her throat and her face twisted into an ugly grimace of pain. It was still swollen and sore from before. It didn't take much pressure to cause her whole system to fly into a blind panic. She tried to flare her power to yank herself away, but it seemed to be broken again. Wouldn't respond to her at all. All that left was for her to drop the belt in her hand and try to dig her small fingers around his bigger ones in an attempt at prying them away.
The voice that came out of that mask of his was... sure creepy as all hell. Distorted to a point it was hard to even see it as human. He seemed to be talking more to himself than her, maybe? Pondering on her name. She couldn't have given it to him even if she had tried. All she could really do was keep tugging at his fingers and glare back as harshly as she could.
He growled out something about her burning, and then released her throat. Trying to call her power to her again failed, and she had barely a second to try and brace herself for a coming fist.
@#$% this was gonna--
In her condition, she wasn't fast enough to dodge or get her arms up in time and took the punch in the face. Impact. She blacked out the second it hit and wasn't conscious by the time she ended up on the ground a moment later freshly bleeding from a split upper lip and dead to the world.
He went for a swing. She went for his crotch. Okay, he was really getting mixed signals here! He felt her grasp on is belt buckle, and looked down, each hand still clutching a blade as he suddenly tossing him like a ragdoll.
"KSUU!"
Damn it all, he was going for a trip! His katana flicked about as he flew past the range of his platform crest, which phizzled as a result.
Another seal appeared above him as he arced downward toward the hand. He hit it with a grunt, allowing it to slow his descent as he fell and it shattered from the force.
He repeated the summoning a few times until he landed on his feet safely. Cursing again under his lungs, he hopped over the very dead burnt man, and bolted back into the alleyway.
Too late. Looking down, he saw an open escape route, and a knocked out Loli-chan. Looking down at her, he let out a long sigh, and sheathed his swords. Great, he couldn't exactly kill her like this, and the father was gone.
What a waste of time. With a shake of his head, he pulled out a scroll, wrote down his latest tracker phone number, and popped it it into her back pocket where she lay. With that, he turned, and walked out of the alleyway as if nothing had happened.
It was a stroke of some sort of luck that he happened to be out on patrol when the call came out. He didn't get a lot of time for it these days. He'd taken on a few more shifts after Juniper's dissapearance, hoping to find her...
When he landed on the city street, a couple of officers were already clearing people away from the area. The paramedics were arriving to take a look at the reported burn victim. It didn't take Saph a whole glance to know that he was dead... or she, honestly. It was hard to tell. This was the fourth murder like this... it looked like the same handiwork, though... he didn't see any glass yet. Maybe it had been initiated somewhere else?
They had fallen onto the street from the sidewalk, it looked like. Odd, though, they were facing outward, as if they'd fallen over, and been turned around. Still, he was able to come to the comclusion that he hadn't been running along the sidewalk, but instead he'd come from the alleyway perpendicular to the street. That was the actual scene of the crime.
He motioned to one of the officers, and headed into the alley. A fight had taken place here. "Gather any witnesses, we have to... Hey, another body." He hurried further toward a slumped form in the dark space. Turning her over, he let out a sort of gasp of surprise, in spite of himself.
"Jesus... small world... Paramedic! We have injured, here!" She was still breathing, but out of it. Jesus, it looked like she'd been through a lot over a stretch of time. "We need to get her in an ambulance... Hang in there Juniper..."
He choose to ride with her to the hospital... He had plenty to talk to her about, sure, but at this point... She was very possibly the only confirmed witness to a Molotov Murderer slaying...
