The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Talk about awkward... can you post bail? (Princess)
The griffin did not see inclined to fetch. He either didn't know what it was, or he deemed it beneath him to play along. Either way, that was yet another negative quality in a pet. Which he was not. The princess rolled her eyes as Carrick sauntered over to the apple, inspected it, then tossed it over back to where he'd come from. That was not how one played fetch. Amethyst had seen dolphins do better.
The princess walked over, picking up another apple, with a sudden idea in her head. She spat in her hand; her saliva immediately crystallized into a piece of clear sapphire, light blue and about the size of her thumbnail. Pressing the crystal into the side of the apple, she tossed it into the air again, blue sapphire glinting in the sunlight.
His wings snapped open when he saw her spit. He knew what happened when she spit. Carrick mentally went through the checklist of gems before his eyes fixed onto the shiny sapphire that was pressed into the apple then tossed. ‘Fek, got me.’ Carrick ran and leapt into the air and snatched the apple before it hit the ground. He let out a screech and then circled back to the princess and dropped the apple just a few feet away from her then landed.
He eyed the sapphire in his claws and held it into the light examining it. The princess said before they weren’t worth much but it was still shiny and while his human side was saying let it go his Gryphon form was far too interested in it. So interested in fact as he was studying it close to the princess he looked to her then held it up to the light. ‘More?’ It gleamed.
The shifter started to purr loudly and rolled over onto his back wings extending as much as possible to catch as much sunlight. He chirped and looked back to the princess then looked into the gem up at the sky.
The trick worked, and it almost made Amethyst laugh. In triumph, obviously. The griffin pounced for the apple and the gemstone, and snatched them right out of the air. The apple was soon discarded, but the sapphire seemed to amuse Carrick; he purred and chittered and rolled over, admiring it.
"Well, you're a griffin after all" the princess grinned, looking down at him. She was curious now; even though Carrick was a gorgon, not a real griffin, he seemed to behave like one, at least as far as the legends went. He was endlessly amused by shiny things, and probably guarded things he deemed important. Which begged the question...
Amethyst extended a hand for the sapphire. "Mine."
His tail slapped the ground and swatted the air as the purring continued. The princess got closer and asked for the gem back. The purring stopped almost instantly in response. Carrick’s eyes shifted from the gem to the princess covered in all the shiny things. His ears lowered and lay flat to his head, ‘It was a gift love, I’m keeping it.’
Carrick’s talon closed around the gem and he rolled to his side his back now to the princess. ‘Can’t hear ya.’ He looked into the gem and started to purr again. She didn’t’ want all his gems back right? He had a bag in his room in an undisclosed and pretty safe location. No one was dumb enough to go under his bed. The former Irishman was pretty sure the pizza boxes and clothes that were under there were from before he went back to Ireland a few years ago.
His tail flicked backwards and swatted at the princess’s legs. ‘You got enough of ‘em’
Well then. He might have been friendly, but shinies won over royalty, apparently. Carrick turned away from her, purring at the shiny stone, and the way he flattened his ears made it obvious that he did not like the idea of returning it at all. Still a wild creature. And he definitely understood what she was saying.
The princess sighed, taking a seat in the grass with her dress spreading out around her, and reached out tentatively to pet the feathers on one of his wings.
His wing twitched slightly at the touch and then rose to meet her hand the purring started back up when he realized he was about to get pets. His human form found it embarrassing but his Gryphon form found some comfort in being touched. Carrick rolled back to his last position where he was belly up so he could eye the princess. ‘Keep going’
His tail rose slightly and flicked her hair now that she was sitting ‘I can still be annoying if ya prefer.’ he thought as let out a sigh and offered up the shiny reluctantly. His human side had no problem taking control while his final form was distracted with the pets.
He chirped at her and puffed out his chest a little. ‘Belly rubs are also preferred, the gem can be payment.’
It was really hard to remember that the griffin was the same person as Carrick (or the monster, for that matter). Amethyst knew it still had Carrick's mind, and most of his attitude, but at the same time it was also a creature of legend, and behaving much like an overgrown cat. She wondered what Praxi would say if she saw this.
She ran her fingers over the feathers on the wing. They were soft, and kind of beautiful, like an exquisite cloth of some sort. The griffin was purring loudly and rolled over, reluctantly handing back the gem. Amethyst didn't take it. The tail batted at her hair and she waved it away with one hand. Instead, she touched the soft fur on the griffin's side. Such a curious creature. Such a curious person.
