Ethnicity/ Cultural Heritage: Japanese
Appearance
Hair color and style:
Physical form: Very short, soft, black hair. Maybe just a bit fluffy.
1st constructed form: Black, and typically styled in a shoulder-length straight cut bob. Straight cut bangs.
2nd constructed form: Knee-length or longer, very light blue (sometimes aqua), with ruffled bangs. Usually worn in pigtails.
Skin Tone: Pale in every form.
Eye Color: Vibrant yellow in both her physical form and her 1st projection. 2nd projected form has eyes that match her hair; very blue.
Height: Physical form: 1’0”. In both constructed forms she is 5'6".
Build: Slim with gentle curves in both projected forms.
Visible mutation: If you catch her in her actual physical she isn’t visibly different from any other stray cat, save for the two tails. If you catch her in either of her human constructed forms, she is an obvious carrier of the x-gene. Hair and eye color alone are dead giveaways, let alone the sleek, black feline ears can sometimes be found on top of her head, as well as unnaturally sharp teeth.
Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: None.
Other features: Her tail splits unnaturally at the base. Effectively she has two tails.
Everyday clothing style: Nothing. Hiyori literally wears no clothing at any point, since she has the physical body of a cat. The closest that she comes to wearing anything is the occasional bow. Her constructs on the other hand can wear clothes. She is used to wearing a uniform most days for school, so she tends to gravitate toward other articles of clothing that feel similar. Knee-length skirts, knee socks, loose button-up blouses, and ties or bows, with a sweater on over it.
Uniform: Sweaters of varying colors, white button-up shirts, and pleated skirts. She sometimes wears knee socks or warm, loose socks.
Sleepwear: Kawaii matching pj tops or sleeping gowns.
Miscellaneous clothing: Often wears a cat collar with a bell, even if she isn’t visually a cat at the moment.
Character
Personality: She is very mischievous, but who wouldn’t be when half of your culture treated you like a demon for most of your life? She can be a bit reserved, and fairly blunt with what she says most of the time. For the most part she is kind and wants to do good, but can easily be led astray from that goal by wanting to show off or dabbling with being a bit creepy. Due to her physical body being that of feline's she is also stuck battling the various instincts that cats typically have. She can be easily distracted by things moving; particularly bits of string and light dots. She is prone to being sleepless at weird hours of the night and needing to get it all out of her system at once, usually through solo races up and down halls. She prefers being higher than other people nearby and thus tends to gravitate towards shelves and other tall places where she can look down on others. (Objects on said shelves are forfeit if she has been allowed to rest there, and will most likely end up on the floor before long). Small creatures capture her attention easily, and she will instinctively bring them to people after they expire as presents for their well being. Lastly, she had been known to stalk people without warning, often being caught peeking up from behind or around furniture with her ears back, knowing full well they see her, but unable to help herself from the urge to pounce.
Hobbies/ Interests: She loves reading and learning, looking for different ways to use her power more effectively, and spending time with her sister. Cooking is a hobby she likes to partake in when she has time.
Job or part-time job and description: n/a
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: She fears she will end up a burden to her little sister, and that someday she won’t be needed anymore. Also, DOGS. DEMON HELL SPAWN with the YAP YAP and wanting to PEE ON EVERYTHING!
Special talents: She is a god at folding paper into various creatures and animals. She can make the most intricate-looking paper frog you have ever and will ever see in your life. She is also quite good at giving massages, but few other than her sister would know that.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Hiyori is inherently good, but her upbringing tends to cause her to have a bit of a competitive streak in her that can come across as arrogant. She loves her twin sister with all of her heart and has a little trouble opening up to others because of it. She wants to prove that she can be the best, even while lacking physical strength, and so has focused entirely on being a model, upstanding citizen to the best of her ability.
Mutations
Mutation description: Other than literally being trapped in the body of a cat, she can create various constructs made from spiritual energy. She is able to sense lingering spiritual energy left over from deceased beings as well as herself and other blood related family members, and will it into a shape that reflects what she wants and the energy itself. Strength and durability vary based on how much spiritual energy from the dead is near her, thus her creations may be weaker or stronger depending on where she is located and how much death has occurred in that particular area. The closer she is to a graveyard for example, the more durable and stronger they will be. Also, the fresher the death, the stronger the spiritual energy lingering around.
Commonly used Spiritual Energy Constructs:
The Shogun: The Shogun is possibly her most terrifying construction simply due to its imposing nature. Ranging anywhere from 9 to 15ft tall and solidly built, the imposing dark figure is dressed in dark, dusty, blood-stained, traditional Karuta Armor and helmet, with an aged black Oni mask covering the bottom half of his face. His hair is black and scraggly. Skin grey and wrinkled as if he has been summoned from an old, untouched tomb. He has no eyes to speak of, just black pits that glow with an unearthly light from within. The illusion of cold, foggy breath can often be seen escaping in long puffs from either side of his fanged mask. The Shogun carries with it a long, gleaming Naginata as its main form of attack. As one of her most used constructs for battle, the Shogun can take damage in a different way than her other creations. Parts of his armor can be knocked off and will dispel with a proper amount of concussive force, such as a heavy impact or a few gunshots. With different parts of his armor missing, more of his dead, grey body can be spotted underneath. He himself will be dispelled once a few shots are able to land on his actual body or a good solid hit with enough force.
The Shogun has a decent amount of strength for a construct of its size, comparable to that of a silver back gorilla. He is average when it comes to speed, being weighed down by his armor, but nimble enough to wield his weapon without issue.
The Horde: A group of 15 hideous zombies appears to erupt from the ground, crawling, staggering, and sometimes running toward intended victims. They tend to be a tiny bit weaker than the average person in regards to physical strength; Two could overpower a person easily, but one might struggle a bit in a one on one with someone. They take an average amount of force to dispel, such as a good hit with a baseball bat or a single gunshot. Once all 15 creations have been dispelled, she would be able to raise another hoard if given the time.
The Glamour: Her glamour is her most used construction, and also relies on a her own spiritual energy to create. It usually tends to mimic what she assumes her natural, mutation free body would look like, and uses it to give herself a normal to semi normal body to inhabit when needed. She can mimic other people's faces and bodies in a very limited capacity, though it would take lots of study and practice getting an entirely new face to match that of its original owner. In a pinch she can, but the details might not all be 100% correct and could be noticeably off. While she is inside the Glamour she is still very much a cat, and more or less just puppets it around to preform menial tasks through out the day.
The Geisha: A construction that takes the form of a very beautiful woman, with long silky black hair and creamy skin. She can alter the woman a bit depending on what she assumes her intended target might like but only tends to do so in regards to the skin tone, hair color, and eye color. Much of the rest of the spirit construct stays the same. Sometimes, when the mood strikes her, she might be inclined to change the face of the woman into some terrible monstrosity, in order to elicit terror in anyone who has taken an interest in her creation. The Geisha doesn't take a lot of force to dispel- A decent hit will get rid of her- Nor does she hold a lot of physical strength for offensive abilities.
The sisters: She can create duplicates of herself and her sister. Their appearance might change slightly depending on her mood and how much effort she put into forming them.Cat ears might be visible, or a tail, or they might appear completely human. It takes good amount of concussive force to dispel the sisters.
Strengths:
Distance: She is able to keep control of the projections from up to about 120 yards. Once out of that range the projections dispel on their own.Weight: The larger the construct, the more weight it can carry. The Shogun for example can carry a maximum of 300 lbs on top of its own weight, whereas the smaller projections like the Geisha could feasibly only carry about 50 extra pounds in weight.
Her constructs give her freedom that she otherwise wouldn't normally have, when it comes to what she wants to do and what she can accomplish. They fight for her since she is not as physically capable of fighting to the degree her sister is. Her Glamour can only take one solid hit (punch, being tacked, tripping really hard into a wall, etc) before dispelling, leaving her in her cat form again until she can reform it. Constructs can be used to carry heavy loads, herself, or unconscious people from battlefields. They can be used for sleuthing and spying, as well as luring people in or frightening would-be attackers away.
Weaknesses and Limitations: Hiyori is limited to 2 active types of constructs at once. If she has a glamour up, for example, that leaves her with the ability to conjure one more construct to fight for her or preform a task. She needs to be within a certain radius of her constructs at all times or they dispel on their own. She needs to be able to concentrate in order to summon further constructs, and thus might need to either abandon her Glamour in order to hide, or work in some other way to buy herself enough time to create more on the fly. She cannot create them mid fight, or if she is distracted.
Due to where she actually physically sits within her glamour it might be obvious to outside eyes that something is off. If she is being lazy, or not fully paying attention at the time, her coordination with the construct might be off, I.E. Reaching for something she might miss a few times. Trying to catch things could hold similar failings, as well as shaking hands, and anything else that could be impacted by her skewed perspective. She cannot see out from the eyes of her creations, rather, she sees out from around the stomach area where she is stationed.
Likewise, if she is not actively willing it so, normal bodily functions like breathing, blinking, reacting to touch or sensations, simply won't happen. Often she gets lazy and forgets to make her constructs blink or feign taking a breath, which might be a little unsettling to anyone observing her. She has sometimes been known to nap while in a Glamour, often in the middle of a lesson, which leaves her construct sitting awkwardly wherever she placed it, not moving nor reacting to anyone until she wakes back up.
Her constructs generally look pretty good from an arms length or two away, but up lose there are noticeable differences. Pores, fine hairs, the texture of the Iris all tend to be missing unless she is actively putting thought into each and every aspect of a creation- which is nearly impossible. Small things like that, that once noticed can break the illusion of that construct being a real, living thing, tend to be dead giveaways to outside eyes. Uncanny Valley is very real with her creations.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: (While in her natural feline form) She can hold a dead sprint for quite a bit before needing a break, and feline eyes, ears, and an enhanced nose give her an edge up when it comes to being snuck up on, or needing to watch something closely. She has average strength while using a glamour but is able to combine a good hit with sharp claws to improve her chances of defending herself if need be. Her tails provide her with impeccable balance, even if they happen to be hidden from sight most of the time, and her eyes, ears, and nose provide insight on the world around her that her more human counterparts aren’t able to hear, smell, or see generally. She has excellent vision and is able to focus on things even from a distance, her ears can pick up sounds the human ear can’t and help her hear from a bit further away (which is great for gossip) and her nose can scent strong smells from a good distance, or help her track down the whereabouts of something when up close.
Fighting Style: She was never trained formally in any style, unlike her sister. When engaged in a fight with her constructs, she tends to revert to a more animalistic style, typically lingering back until she spots an opening to leap in and deal some damage. Sharp claws on her fingers and toes aid with dealing damage, as well as enhanced speed and endurance. The Shogun has his own, slower, heavier fighting style and typically favors trying to land heavy swings. The Zombies tend to converge on things in a rush, gripping, holding, and sometimes biting. The Sisters tend to mimic both how her sister fights to the best of her ability, as well as how she would personally like to fight if she were to have an actual human body.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: She’s average when it comes to physical strength, which is why speed is so important to her. She’d be at a disadvantage if she found herself in an environment that didn’t give her ample room to zoom around in.
History Of Your Character
Hiyori was never given the chance to be born into a normal, well-adjusted family. For one, there was a long, cultivated line of fox based mutations that she seemingly came from, and for two, she came out looking... different.
Her birth was a bit of a surprise after her sibling had been born, as no one, not even her mother, had realized she was in there. A surprise twin. Not only that, but she came out impossibly small, covered in black fur, and with two tails. She wasn’t a fox based mutant like the rest of her known family... nope. She was a cookie-cutter black cat, which might have been fine seeing as the common belief was that black cats brought good luck.... if she had only been blessed with one tail.
But no, she had to be born with a split in her tail. Nekomata. Mountain beast. Youkai of legend. Her childhood was filled with whispers and sidelong glances. She was treated more like a cat than an actual person. Her mother whisked her off on long business trips in order to make sure she was being taken care of. Her feline body matured faster than that of her sibling and within a year and a half, she was out on her own skulking through cities and prowling the compound. No one outright tried to kill her or kick her off of her family's land, since crossing a Nekomata generally ended with seven generations of bad luck or something along those lines, but it was made very clear that she wasn't wanted.
Her father basically ignored her. She was sure that to him she had never actually been born, and was just some hard to get rid of stray. Her mother was kind but distant. She was gone from home for months at a time, sometimes a few years, as she was the head of the family business.
Hiyori found solace in her fraternal twin, who was the only other family member besides their grandfather who paid her any attention. Her attachment to her sibling grew over the years, especially as family drama sprouted and grew. She stuck close and always made sure she was there to defend her favorite person.
Eventually, after years of being stuck in the body of a cat, she discovered an offshoot of her ability that enabled her to create something. She had, to the best of her knowledge, always been away that she was surrounded by a particular type of spirit energy and that it was stronger in some areas than in others; such as grave yards and certain forests where people often wandered out to die alone. She wasn’t sure what the new ability was at first, but practice paid off and within the span of a few years of diligent training and studying she had a general idea for what she could do. By the time she was seven in human years, Hiyori was able to create a very basic construct around herself that mimicked what she wanted to look like. Her sibling had beautiful pink hair, so she chose colorful blue. Her sibling had pretty eyes, so she chose a pretty color as well.
She was able to keep the construct up for nearly a whole day, though it wasn’t perfect in the least, and was pleased with not having to be a small talking cat for once.
By the time she reached the age of 14, she had mastered many different kinds of spirit constructs that she could make, including another form to wear around herself of what she apparently was actually supposed to look like as a human. She also had a general idea for how to best use her power and where.
She spent a few years with her sister, shying away the rest of her extended family. She studied under her mother's order, found that she quite liked school work, and challenged herself to be as book-smart as she could. While she wasn't able to actually go to a school in person until she had a proper grip on her human form, she was able to catch up with her peers through self study and tutoring.
When she turned 16 there was a lot of turmoil in her family, some which revolved around her continued presence in her sisters life and her general disapproval for her father and his wishes. A decision was made to study abroad for a few years under the watchful eyes of her Fathers sister, an Aunt they had never met who lived in New York and had a fairly well off business. Though she was not originally offered a chance to go, a few discreet meetings with her mother swayed luck into being on her side, and she was able to follow her sister across the ocean to the land of Seiyō hito.

Well, this was embarrassing.
The cat wiggled her back legs a little again to see if she could dislodge herself, and the attempt failed once more. 'Himari is going to laugh at me.' She thought sullenly, going limp against the gentle pull of her bindings. She'd allowed herself to get lured in by the sweet sirens song of a bird outside on the patio and thus had ended up half entangled within the blinds with no foreseeable way out. She could form a Glamour to try and dislodge herself, yes... but might ruin the blinds in the process. So... here she was. Caught in the act of being in a window she rightly wasn't supposed to be in because of said blinds. Left to the hands of fate while the birds chirped away mockingly from outside.
There was on particular robin she just hated and if the gods willed it so someday she would be able to sink her claws into that dumb bird and taste victory.
Until then... shame. Utter shame.
"...Meeeeow" A forlorn cry picked up because she didn't know what to do. This was almost as bad as that time she had gotten caught in an alley by the neighborhood kids and limped home covered in sticky papers and a balloon wrapped around her middle. Tch, children. Baka's, all of them. Too dumb to frighten easily with threats from the old myths.
"MEOOOOOOW." Surely, someone would hear her and come get her out, right? She wasn't exactly off the beaten path here. Meowing like an injured feline had to tug on the heartstrings of somebody, right?
She spent a few good minutes yowling at varying pitches and volumes before she lost patience altogether. "... Stupid dumb Gaijin. HEY! SOMEBODY COME GET ME DOWN!"
Golden eyed closed briefly, and she considered continuing to shout at the top of her tiny lungs for help, but... oh, the sun was hitting her just right all of the sudden and it was quite warm.
... Maybe a small nap was in order. It was basically like a hammock, anyway, right?
She closed her eyes and did just that, legs every which way, ears relaxed, tails gently flicking.
She'd worry about the trouble later.
