The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”Surprise them with a flight?” Carrick mused his mismatched colored eyes caught the glints from the princess’s cheeks. He raised an eyebrow now distracted by the sparkles, ”Maybe, thought you kinda deserved it though.” he said with a smirk, ”If ya call me anything call me Carrick… please.” he sounded more sarcastic by the end of it.
He shifted his gaze to the grounds at the sign of movement, a small chipmunk. He was full but he started to purr again at the thought of chasing. He shifted his eyes back to the princess’s cheeks. ”You’re sparkling, love.” he shifted his head back so he could get a better look at it. Before long he realized he was still staring. The light catching and reflecting caused his eyes to linger longer than he would have.
A guest of wind caught them and his wings shifted on their own his whole body adjusted to the wind his attention back to the grounds and away from the princess’s dazzling cheeks. ”Right.” he slowly lowered her then brushed his hands. ”Congrats, ya survived you’re first flight. Next time you might be able to keep yer eyes open.” he teased.
>>”Surprise them with a flight?... Maybe, thought you kinda deserved it though. If ya call me anything call me Carrick… please.”
Amethyst was really not in a position to argue. She knew that the gorgon probably took offense at her calling him such, even though he had not even known the term a few minutes earlier. But he did ask nicely, not in a brutish way. "Carrick it is."
>>”You’re sparkling, love.”
Amethyst blushed. That had to be the opals; a human would have been perspiring too, from the sudden excitement of being swept up into the sky. Carrick was looking at her with bird-like curiosity up close, and purred, which was a... strange sensation, while she was being held to his chest. "Yes, it... happens."
He landed and let go of her; Amethyst made sure she found her feet before she let go. The last thing she needed was to land on her ass in front of this smug guy.
>>”Right. Congrats, ya survived you’re first flight. Next time you might be able to keep yer eyes open.”
"If there is a next time" she pointed out, folding her arms. She did not see a chance of one in the near future. An opal slid down her neck and disappeared in her cleavage; she unfolded her arms and the small gem followed the path of gravity, landing at her feet.
”If there is a next time,” the shifter said with a toothy grin. She might have enjoyed the first flight but he knew people always wanted to go for a second or a third flight. Flying was great. You know what else is great? Precious stones, Carrick watched one disappear into her cleavage and his face immediately turned bright red.
The shifter quickly looked away and changed the subject by looking at the sky, ”Give it a day love, you’ll be dreaming about flying I’m sure.” he said as his eyes shifted back to the opal that dropped to her feet. His gaze fixed on the shiny for a moment. Then back to the princess who was still shiny as well, his tail flicked behind him. She had his attention.
Mocking a bow again, he apologized again ”The second one will be far nicer, princess.” his wings opened and folded back up throughout the bow. ”You dropped a stone.” Carrick said pointing it out to her.
It was good to be back on solid ground. Amethyst was sure the gor... Carrick was proud of himself for getting the jump on royalty, and her reactions to being flown up into the air by an untrustworthy person did not help either. Right now, if she had to choose, she would have been sure she never wanted to fly outside of an airplane again.
>>”Give it a day love, you’ll be dreaming about flying I’m sure. The second one will be far nicer, princess.”
He bowed and she huffed; the kind of bow he did had nothing to do with Atlantean etiquette, but she did not expect him to know that much. She did notice, however, how his eyes followed the shiny drop of opal that landed at her feet. Polite or not, the griffins seemed to have a distinctly feline affection for shiny objects.
>>”You dropped a stone.”
"Oh" she noted with innocent eyes. Twisting her lips, she spat into her hand, her saliva crystallizing into a small, shiny piece of sapphire. She held it up between her index and middle finger, glinting in the sun "You mean like this?"
Mismatched colored eyes shifted from the shiny pebble on the ground to the princess when he heard the sound. Carrick blinked, ”Didn’t know royalty was allowed to spit.” teased Carrick as he eyed the stone she produced from her… spit.
”No, you dropped that one.” he pointed at the other one on the ground, ”I mean, sure ya can make more, won’t stop ya. Just pointing it out in case it was important.” and if it wasn’t he’d be happy to take it off of her hands.
”That’s two stones you didn’t mention. Thought it was just rubies.” Carrick said leaning forward and examining the sapphire she held between her fingers. Under the sun it was even more eye-catching. His tail flicked mischievously behind him.
"I can do whatever I want" Amethyst smiled. She really couldn't, not when at court, but such small things as spitting gemstones were not going to register in her current position as ambassador. Especially since everyone at the Mansion seemed to regard her as an exchange student instead.
>>”No, you dropped that one. I mean, sure ya can make more, won’t stop ya. Just pointing it out in case it was important. That’s two stones you didn’t mention. Thought it was just rubies.”
Amethyst noted the look Carrick was giving the stones. It was almost feline. He liked shiny things, clearly. Gorgons didn't have many of those in her experience, it made sense that they were fascinated. The princess dropped the gem next to the other one.
"Royalty has secrets" she noted, before turning to head back inside the building "Happy nesting, griffin boy."
He might have been annoying and brash, but at least the Mansion would be less boring with him around.
