The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Cannot take the heat? Leave. (Sam, the Cold Steel)
New powers were interesting. New powers, she could understand. Bring it on.
He brought it. As he came in, she focused. Focused on trying to narrow the field of her vision to one point, to try and draw the orange away into one area while the rest of the world returned to normal. And... there was something there. Some force, but... Lenna was not ready for it. She hurriedly backed away from that, whatever that was.
Since she was focused on trying to unleash her power, Lenna was not focused on Sam or any of his cool moves. He got her with the entire combination, and cracked her on the jaw for good measure. The woman landed on her ass.
”oof.” she grunted. Rubbed at her chin.
”Maybe. I need to work up to big pushes and things. Felt like there was all this pressure. In the back of my mind. But— and now, I have The Headache.” She groaned, eyebrows knitting little Vs on her forehead.
It was as as if she had imbibed copious amounts of frozen dessert in an extremely small amount of time.

Even with his punches being pulled they all conntected and caused her to fall backwards. If he was in the field or he was focused less on not hurting her he would have finished up the uppercut with a bladed fist. That was the old Sam though. He didn’t want to hurt anyone. Not now at least he just wanted to prove to himself he was more skilled he wasn’t going to lose again. He couldn’t, he was supposed to be the best. That was the only reason he was still alive.
The impulsive icemancer lowered his guard and offered a hand to his new sparring partner. ”You can take a punch. You all right?” he asked helping her up. While he thought on her issue with control, ”Control is key if you want to use your powers in the f- real life situations.” he corrected himself. He wasn’t an agent of T.A.T. not anymore and he wasn’t on the run from him. He was safe now. Home was what his older self said.
”Start with something small, and work you’re way up.” he said. ”When I was a kid I couldn’t control any of it. Couldn’t even be around people till I had a handle on it. Everything froze. Now…” he smirked, ”I’m holding hands with a beautiful lady.” he formed a snowball in his hand and offered it up to her. ”For the headache.”
”I am fine,” Lenna said, as she took the hand and got to her feet.
”I must practice,” She agreed.
A person unable to control themselves was a danger to herself, and others. Even in non combat situations.
Lenna wished control. She wanted to master herself, even if she was not to use her talents in life threatening situations. At the very least, she wished to be able to nudge things in her favor when it came down to it.
Lenna released his hand. She took the snowball he had offered her, with a polite thanks. Pressed it to where it was needed.
”Maybe I will be able to give things more of my focus if I work at it. Maybe I can get this field of vision thing under control, as well. All I ever see is orange... up until I focus to move something in my favor. It is odd.” She frowned.
Made picking out clothing difficult. As well as several other things.
”Perhaps we can practice focus some time. In the movies they sit under freezing waterfalls to master inner peace. Does the mansion grounds have any freezing falls?” She joked, wryly.

”Sounds odd” the young icemancer agreed. Waving his hands trying to imagine them as orange. It was already hard to imagine life with one eye, one color. He was glad he wasn’t color blind, and had both eyes.
”Just in the danger room.” he smirked, ”Computer, add freezing waterfall.” on cue the sound of rushing water could be heard before the misted water hit the air. Sam’s body started to coat more in ice when he started to get wet.
The falls appeared a few seconds after the sound and the feeling of mist in the air. Large boulders appeared next to the racks of bladed weapons. ”I don’t know what this has to do with focus though.” he said the movie reference completely lost on him.
The sound of the falls suddenly coalescing into being caused Lenna to turn her head quickly in their direction. She felt foolish afterwards. Felt like she had acted jumpy, like a spooked horse in an old western. But at least she had been prepared for any sudden trail snakes.
He said he didn’t know what it had to do with focus? She arched an eyebrow.
”You know, I never gave that much thought. I guess if you are freezing your balls off and can ignore that while focusing on something else, that shows true strength of mind. I suppose it may be mind over matter... you would not need to sit under a water fall.” She added, looking at him and smiling. ”You can ignore the cold easily. For you, it would be cheating.”
The pressure of the falls would be another thing to ignore. To focus on something above the pain, above all else.
Would the danger room illusion make you wet, even after you left? Curious.
”Anyways. I thank you for the training.” She did a quick bow, as the Japanese might do for their teacher. Then, she straightened up.

The young icemancer smirked when she made mention of his ball. For someone who didn’t seem interested in him he found it funny. ”Still getting pummled by a water fall.” he shrugged, ”I found living is pretty good motivator to focus.”
Sam gave Lenna a thumbs up. When she thanked him then stopped and returned the bow slightly. His training from when he was younger kicked in. ‘Respect your opponent because it might be your last...’ he didn’t feel like Lenna was an opponent but he knew he should respect her either way. Especially if they were going to be doing more training together.
”My pleasure, any chance I get to train I’ll take it. One of the things I’m good at.” he grinned and offered a wink.
Lenna returned the wink. Because the hell why not?
”I feel the same. We shall do this again some time. Maybe the next time, I shall do better.”
She did not act cocky or say next time, she could kick his ass. Next time, she might do just that! But it would be foolishly prideful to state that just then.
Training was in order. Much training. Much practice utilizing her fledging powers.
After a few further pleasantries, Lenna left him and returned to her rooms.
