Character's real name: Mia Christiansen Codename/Alias: Nox
Gender: Female Age: 21 Nationality/Ethnicity: Norwegian Birthplace: Northern Norway. Personality: Nox has never felt the comforting embrace of a parent, or heard the easy laughter of friendship, nor has she seen trust in any eye that ever dared to meet hers. The world scorned her and turned its back on her, so she in turn leant to become utterly independent- trusting no one. She is bitter, cynical, and resentful, and takes the saying “revenge is a dish best served cold” to heart. Naturally her own personal aims take priority in her life, though her current employment covers most of her needs. Notes (Hobbies, Phobias, Worries, ect.): Nox is very skilled with knives, especially accurate with throwing knives up to a distance of 10m, and improving. She, however, fears being trapped underground because of the limited electromagnetic radiation and gets agitated if she is inside for too long.
Allegiance (Good, Bad, or Neutral): Bad
Everyday clothing: Normally wears casual/formal clothes, often a blouse, black trousers, practical boots and a ¾ length coat. Uniform (Optional. Required if eventually becoming part of the X-Men): When out on ‘business’ she wears the same as above, and you can be assured that several knives will always be concealed somewhere on the outfit Pyjamas: black strap top and shorts
Hair colour and style: Very light, slightly wavy shoulder length blonde her that is normally just loose. Eye colour: A very watery grey, but when absorbing visible light her pupils swell so that her entire iris appears black. Height: about 5’8 Build: slim, but muscular. She is much stronger than she looks, and her light build gives her the speed and stealth that she utilises in her fighting style (see below).
Scars: In addition to the several small scars she picked up on the way has one distinguishing scar, which is knife wound on her right shoulder blade caused by some of her previous classmates. Tattoos: n/a Piercings: n/a
Description of ability(ies): Nox has control over the entire electromagnetic spectrum, which leads to lots of interesting possibilities. This Includes: being able to interfere and create her own radio and microwaves; controlling and absorbing infrared, heat, from any source; controlling, filtering, and absorbing visible light; directing and absorbing UV; and finally, directing and absorbing X-rays and gamma rays, which could potentially kill through radiation.
She can also give photons more energy, ‘upgrading’ them, so that infrared could become visible light. But the more energy the photons need to ‘upgrade’ the more energy she has to waste doing so. Therefore, normally she just uses whatever happens to be around.
Also Nox can sense the presence of any heat-producing creature (human, mutant, or otherwise), because she can ‘feel’ the infrared radiation they release. This comes in very useful when, having just absorbed all the light in a room, she needs to relocate her prey.
Cons (weaknesses) of ability(ies): Naturally, because Nox can only manipulate photons and not create them, she is powerless if there is no electromagnetic radiation. Plus the more energy the photons carry the more energy it takes to control/absorb them, therefore, she only rarely ‘plays’ with anything more powerful then visible light. If she does, she then has to be careful that she doesn’t overexert herself otherwise she’ll become unconscious. But if the situation calls for it she will not hesitate to use everything she can.
Fighting style (if any): Nox prefers to first off balance her prey/opponent using her power, either utter darkness or blinding light, and then finish them off using knives, often thrown but sometimes a personal touch is needed.
History of your character: Nox was born in a small village at the foot of a northerly mountain range in Norway, and even in childhood she was never shown any love. Her mother died in childbirth and her father left soon after, when he realised that he couldn’t bring himself to look upon the creature that had killed his loved one. So she lived with a foster family, but they too soon realised their mistake. In the beginning, everyone believed she was just a normal child, an unlucky one, but still an innocent child. It was the other children who noticed first, who noticed how she could always find people when playing hide and seek, how her hands were warm after playing in the snow with no gloves, and so they segregated her. Soon, however, even the adults kept away from her, because around her inexplicable things would happen. At first it had just been the lights, which would flicker whenever she entered, but soon it become much worse. Radios went crazy if she drew to close, remotes stopped working, rooms became either freezing or boiling, and worst of all was the sickness. That’s why she left, that’s why they made her leave, three days after the incident she was hunted out of the village. On the day on the incident she was only 9, it was then that her classmates closed in on her, holding her face down on a table, as one of them fetched a kitchen knife; they had decided to take matters in their own hands. The ringleader of the little pack had made the first incision across her right shoulder, which had drawn a tortured scream out of the young Nox. It didn’t however go any further since the children noticed that yellow blotches now decorated their forearms. Three days later all 7 children lay on their death beds, killed by radiation sickness. Alone, on the run, she was forced to learn to control her powers simply to survive in the mountains, and soon realised that she was not cursed but blessed. With her new self-acceptance she began to test herself, and began to discover that she was capable of much more than just creating heat to keep her alive. She began to wander south into central Europe, always avoiding human contact when possible - it just made everything more complicated. But by the age of 16 she found herself longing for something more exciting, she had proved that she could survive in the wild, but what about the street? So she found herself in London, learning an entirely new way to survive, and soon discovered that she would need to combine her power with other tools if she wasn’t going to exhaust herself. And so her passion for knives developed, and her natural talent excelled her in this field, allowing her to develop a unique style of thievery. Victims found themselves blinded by glorious light, or stumbling along in complete darkness, and then either a wallet would be taken or a cold blade would come out of nowhere and taste their necks, followed by a threat that they always obliged. Due to her natural talents it didn’t take long for her to fall into the wrong crowd, so she quickly became the youngest member of the ‘Cathos’, an underground organisation who specialised in assassinations and threats. After 5 years she realised she was bored; her part time work had become mundane and there was nothing that challenged her. It was therefore she soon found herself on a plane to New York. That brings us to the present - she is unsure what the future will hold, but certain that she will take every step to ensure that it will be to her liking.
* It didn’t take long for Nox to fall into bad company once more, and so she quickly became a member of the Kabal. Currently the presence of other mutants, something she hadn’t really experienced before, is intriguing enough to hold her interest, her missions on top of that has ensured that, for the time being, she is content.
Sample RP: She decided to take the next left, up into the side alley, if he followed her there then she would know and that would be that. She risked one final glance over her shoulder before she turned, and easily picked out the cause of her anxiety, a solitary figure, among the crowd. The man seemed in no way to be anything out of the ordinary, wearing plain jeans, a T-shirt, and sunglasses, but her instincts told her otherwise. If there was one thing she had learnt over the years it was to trust her instincts. She continued walking up the alley, only slightly increasing her pace, towards a partially open door that she presumed served as one of the many entrances into the warehouse. Just as she put her palm against the neglected door and pushed, she caught sight of a figure turning into the top of the alley. Damn. He was going to have to be dealt with, so much for not drawing any attention to herself. She entered the large cluttered storage room and looked for somewhere to wait. Having caught sight of a suitable spot, she made her way over and sat down, anticipating the moment when she would hear the hinges give way to the gently pressure of his hand. The door opened and the man stepped forth, immediately catching sight of her, as she was perched on some old cardboard boxes. “What do you want?” The man, who had been expecting a timid enquiry and not such a strong demand, was taken back for a few moments before he regained his ground and curtly replied in a crisp English accent. “I am here to take you back to England. I been investigating a recent murder enquiry, and I have reason to believe you are connected to the case, and would therefore insist that you accompany back to London, unless you want the local police involved?” She was silent for a few moments, he falsely assumed she was debating whether or not to submit. In fact she had just come to the conclusion that firstly, if the local police weren’t involved already then as long as she hid her tracks she would be able to get away without any further hindrance. And Secondly, she had decided exactly how she would deal with him. A smile played at the corner of her mouth as realised how easy this was going to be. All the lights went. This, however, was not the darkness of the night when outlines are clear, and in which you slowly come accustomed to, this is no light at all. Utter darkness. “What the hell!” The man shouted with a start. He lifted he hand a few centimetres in front of his face, but saw nothing. “What’s wrong detective? Are you afraid of the dark?” He spun round to face her eerie voice, which seemed to come from somewhere off to his left. He couldn’t hear the rise and fall of any footsteps, but that just further convinced him that she was circling him, closer and closer. Never in his career had he become the prey before, he thought as he felt his heart racing inside his chest as he uselessly stared into the darkness, spinning round in a futile attempt to spot her. “Wwwhere are yoou?” His weak voice asked the darkness. A soft whisper next to his left ear replied: “Here I am.”

Future Plot Profile (ongoing)
Power development: Firstly, with 10 years Nox was gained far more experience with the parts of the EM spectrum she currently uses, and therefore she no longer reserves it’s more powerfully assets, such as gamma radiation, for emergences, rather she is confident enough to use them on a regularly bases. More importantly, after years of hard training, Nox can now create lasers, since they are incredibly concentrated beams of light. Though it takes concentration she is able to create beams/ small walls, though their overall surface areas will not exceed 3m by 3m. The lasers will last for a significant period of time, but after an hour they start to take their toil, and begin to lose their form. Being lasers they can cut through anything they come in contact with, including the strongest of metals, (think light sabers). Weakness/limitations: Though Nox is confident enough with the more powerful radiation this naturally does not make it an safer, and if she was to call upon too much it would turn upon her, the results of which would be fatal. In addition to the limitations to the lasers already mentioned, Nox can also not normally control more than two lasers at a time. The lasers also require vast amounts of energy and so can only be created when Nox concentrates the visible light in an area, therefore creating tell-tell signs (patches of darkness) just before their creation. With both of the above, Nox has to be extremely careful in her application since it would take no more than a spilt second of distraction for the lasers/radiation to go out of her control and potentially kill anybody she is working with.
