The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sam made his way back on board the jet, but his swagger was a bit more strained than usual. He was covered in ice, and Maya wondered what he'd look like if it melted off. He was probably on his last leg. Then again, so was she. All the mirrorhopping made her dizzy.
>>”Yeah, lemonade. Bout time, I was going to throw a few people overboard and seal the dome. Also there was a fire. Took care of it.”
"Good job." she headed for the mirrors, noting how Sam took a seat. Stopping by one of the compartments, she took a bottle of water out and tossed it at him "Hydrate." She followed her own advice, drinking as she stepped through the mirror, heading to the ship.
>>”Hurry it up, though. Got to spread the news I can best a storm like this now too. **** I’m great.”
Maya did. She did her best to stack as many people on board the jet as they could hold. They had to fit all of them, because a third round was going to get very dangerous. Some she left in the ice mirrors to lighten the weight. She tried to pick the ones who did not freak out.
"Alright, that should be everyone. Care to take a heat look to make sure?"

His eyes were shut when she gave him a ‘good job’. His eyes opened when she tossed him the bottle. Sam struggled to catch it a few times before he opened the bottle. ”Sure thing mom.” he took a long swing because he wanted to. Not because he was told too. Now that he thought about it he should have grabbed a drink at the buffet that was on fire. At least something was going to eat all that lobster. Then again…
”Not sure even I can see the whole ship. After the first trip I told the people to make sure to spread the word. The crew had the lower levels checked. They said it was clear. Captain is somewhere on here. Meaning either it’s clear and he doesn’t want to go down with it or I’m gonna throw him off on the way back.” Sam started to yell so the captain and crew could chime in if they needed to. Silence. He hoped he didn’t have to kick anyone off the ship. That didn’t sound like something a hero did.
”That’s… ah ****.” Sam shook his head, there was too many thermal readings behind him. He wasn’t ready for it. He was still the greatest though. ”Hate thermal vision.” he grumbled as he righted the jet, which swayed slightly from his recent shake. ”I think that’s all of them…” Sam said trying to sound confident. He just really wanted to be right.
”You good to fly? Should I go make sure?” he asked wondering if he was too young to die a hero’s overly cliché death being lost at see.

Maya sighed. It seemed like everyone was on board, no one was speaking up about missing anyone. But none of that was a guarantee... people were in shock, cold, and really wanting to get out of the storm. They could not wager someone's life on any of that.
>>”That’s… ah ****. Hate thermal vision. I think that’s all of them… You good to fly? Should I go make sure?”
"You think you can do a quick look?" Maya looked at Sam. He seemed like he was on his last leg. For all the bravado, he looked drained and exhausted. "I'd hate to forget someone down there if we have a chance to check. But don't risk yourself if you're not up to it."

”Sure thing Captain Mom.” he gave a thumbs up. Slowly catching his breath. He slammed another water and then caught what she said. His stomach turned when he caught her look. He knew that look. F*** being a hero.
”Oh yeah… I’d hate that too.” he said trying not to sound sarcastic. The captain was on the jet. Sam looked to the captain, he was an intern right? What he said didn’t reflect on the values and opinions of the rest of the team. ”Keep the captain on the jet. If there is someone else there I’d like to personally drop him on the ride back.”
Opening another water he started chugging as he gave the captain a crude hand gesture before pushing himself up. ”You’re supposed to be the good guys.” Sam said looking to Maya. ”Meaning you better come back for me.” he forced a smirk, ”See you soon mom, play me out.” he said as he walked to the ramp and hopped down.
For all the sarcasm and the bravado, they were both at the limits of their stamina. Maya had done a lot more mirrorhopping than usual, and Sam had maxed out his powers a while ago. And yet, this was the superhero business. They could not leave anyone behind, and they could not rely on the word of panicked civilians. Maya gave Sam a look. So far, it had been a tough job. Now, it was time for the desperate heroics.
>>”Sure thing Captain Mom. Oh yeah… I’d hate that too. Keep the captain on the jet. If there is someone else there I’d like to personally drop him on the ride back.”
The captain gave Sam a panicked look, and Maya sighed, taking over the jet controls.
>>”You’re supposed to be the good guys. Meaning you better come back for me. See you soon mom, play me out.”
"We are the good guys, Cold Steel" Maya smirked, giving him a small salute "Get you ass moving."
The sooner he did the last sweep, the sooner they could get out of here. Maya turned the jet, keeping an eye on what was happening below.

They were the good guys. Heh. Sam smirked when he landed on the deck. It was weird to consider himself good. The young icemancer always thought he was good till he found out he was just a puppet. After that he gave up on the notion of being a good guy. That was until he just heard it being said from Maya. Sam… a good guy.
”Yo!” the icemancer called out over the howling wind and waves crashing against the ship that rocked heavily from one side to the other. He didn’t know why he was calling out anyone that was here was on the jet now there was no way he would have left someone behind. Pushing out with his cold powers he felt nothing except for a small fire in one of the kitchen. One of the grills was left on.
The sense of urgency he had once before seemed to die down when he pushed opened the doors and left the storm behind as he entered the covered roof. He knew he had to hurry but he didn’t want to miss anyone. Maybe there was a future ex-girlfriend on the ship? ”Someone order a hero? I’m hourly! Be easier if you came to me!” he yelled as loud as he could.
The ship rocked he had to catch himself from falling multiple times as he walked down the hallway. Sam was also really glad he didn’t have a full stomach at the time otherwise he would have lost it all over the expensive carpeting that lined the hallway floor.
Outside the storm prepared a wave for the ship it was grossly unprepared for.
