The icemancer looked at his drink not wanting to make eye contact with her while she recounted her side of the rift. Sam couldn’t think of a world without the school the place that gave him a second chance at life. A place to learn, grow and teach. A place he thought of as his ‘safe’ space.
He was used to hiding and lying about who or what he was but probably not the same way she had to. He was a former agent of T.A.T. and he knew that there were people who wanted him back people who wanted to do the same thing that Raine’s side of the rift had done. Maybe not the same name but in his eyes they all instilled fear and that was something he enjoyed fighting.
That was stuff Sam didn’t think she was capable of doing. He only met her once but knew that she was capable of extreme things nothing like that though. Killing to him wasn’t that bad at least when he had similar targets it wasn’t that bad. Now however he new different. ”Sorry… I didn’t know that.” he said finally thinking about it having to rethink how he felt towards cheerleader. She wasn’t that bad when they met but he knew that there were things that pushed people to doing bad.
Realizing the cliché he just spouted he tried laughed, ”No, I’m not like the other girls.” he joked, ”Enough people knew him. Probably isn’t helping I’m surrounded by everyone who thought he was the best at everything.” he said trying not to roll his eyes too hard.
”Just growing up, never really thought about who I would be. Never had time to think that far ahead. Didn’t even think I’d get a chance to be that old.” he said more into his beer. ”Kinda depressing to see your future self and not understand how things turned out that way.” Sam never had illusions of growing old or settling down and having a family but to see his older self managed some of those things and what happened after…
Sam shuddered, ”Just disappointing seeing he wasted so much time trying to relive the past.” he shrugged, ”That’s him though. I’d prefer not to live that way.” Sam said grinning trying to show he wasn’t dwelling on it too much.
”You should come check out the mansion though.” he said finally. ”It might be a cool experience for you.” he said grinning, ”You could even come in costume so no one recognizes your face.” he smirked and sipped his drink.
