The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Serena was doing her best to keep up the professional attitude, clearing the lump in her throat. "Right. Well." Okay.
She at least managed to compose herself while she opened her containers (Absolutely unaware of her athletic body being ogled), and prepared to fight robots. They were about 7 feet tall each. And reasonably sturdy. She could definitely knock one over with enough physical effort, but there were 4 of them. This was power training. And cardio, running away from debris and robot limbs was good exercise.
She took a ready stance and activated her power, a slightly eerie glow surrounding her body and drawing about 2 gallons of blood from the containers as a buzzer sounded, indicating the start of the program. She ran towards one of the robots, just barely ducking under a wide swing from one of their arms, and taking a slide between it's legs.
As she moved under the first robot, she drew out the blood into a line like a blade, and used her momentum and her mind to slice clean through the limb.
It fell off balance and she quickly got to her feet, glancing up just in time to see a chunk of simulated... Building? Thrown at her. She dove out of the way with a grunt and scrabbled back to her feet, back into a stance.
Oh... well, those were certainly very imposing robots. She watched, a bit wide eyed, at Serena's show of power, as well and speed and finesse. Aside from seeing a few clips in the news or online, this was the first time she had seen an actual X-man in action. It was impressive, that was for sure.
"You remind me a lot of RedWidower, with like.. how you move and stuff!"
Definitely more fluid and well practiced than anything Juniper could pull off. Still, she wasn't seeing any laser eyes or death rays, so she felt a little safer wandering out onto the battle field herself. It certainly got her heart thumping, seeing as she could feel the movement of the giant, heavy machines thumping through the ground. Floor... Whatever!
Darting toward the one who was down by one leg, she kept the top half of her phased and skidded to a sloppy stop at it's other foot. It was in the process of regaining it's balance after being handicapped when she planted a phased foot on top of its other metal foot, phased it with her, and then solidified her own foot again. With a push she was able to shove the metal foot into the ground, where she un-phased it and left it fused with... whatever the program had created was.
The Robot took a swing at her since she was so close, but found purchase on absolutely nothing as the large metal arm swept right through her form. The big thing toppled a little and was further caught off balance from being stuck in the ground.
"I don't have any fancy moves like you do, unfortunately. I'm pretty boring in that regard."
She left it up to Serena to take care of the Robot, considering that the other three were already preparing to throw their own punches and swings... or chunks of the environment, in some cases.
"If I reach into one of those things will I find wires, or it is like.. hollow?"
Another attack passed harmlessly through her and she glanced at the Blonde.
Serena wasn’t sure what Juniper was referencing right away until she dimly recalled a very (very) attractive red headed spy from some popular movies that moved around like a ninja. She appreciated it for sure. Serena wasn’t really sure how she compared to other X-men or film characters, but she was definitely more fit than most people one saw exercising.
Serena heard the movement and hazarded a glance back over to the one she’d downed, seeing Juniper seemingly gathering some courage over time, and interacting with one of the robots. Did… Did she just stick it to the floor? That was all kinds of cool! Her power was so interesting and defensive.
Serena gasped as it swung towards Juniper “Look ou-” And immediately felt stupid when she saw the blow not connect with anything.
Taking a moment to right herself, and ducking out of the way of the blows of one of the other ones she split her pool of blood into two, flinging a spike hard through one foot to pin it to the ground for a moment, before forming a hammer with the other and swinging it down onto the toppled robot’s skull, before it could make anymore aggression towards Juniper occur. “I don’t think it’s boring, I think you’re actually rather spectacular.” She chirped excitedly.
“I’m… actually not sure, I found these robots in the settings and just dropped them into this scenario, I pretty much only designed one of my programs from scratch.” She had been amused to see nobody else fought vampires. “Give it a go?” She suggested as she brought her blood back around, pivoting her whole body in one motion and stretching out her hands, both of them flattening mirroring the blood becoming a blade which promptly scythed through both of the legs of an upright robot.
Man, with Serena around the four robots wouldn't last very long, would they?
Juniper tried, and failed, at not preening a little at being called spectacular for her power. Her parents hadn't ever really been invested enough in her to pay much attention to what she could do, though, she spent such a large portion of her teens outside of the house that she probably hadn't given them much of a chance.
Content that she wasn't really in harms way to any great extent, she decided to take Serena up on that advice and turned to the handicapped, but still active robot trying and failing to both get back up and take shots at her. She couldn't stand around forever, though, since it was large enough that she needed to concentrate on not getting smacked into next Tuesday by a big metal arm.
"What kinda program did you design?" Did all of the teachers have programs of their own?
Skirting around it a bit, she approached from the side of the robot where it was missing half a leg, and hurried to clamber up on it. Figuring out how to balance on something that was wiggling around still was a little difficult with half her own weight to throw around, so she started sinking in parts of herself and using them as anchors to help herself climb up toward its big metal dome.
All of the manga and comics she had ever read led her to believe that there would be important control wires of modules somewhere in the head, or chest... right? There were some wires, or illusions of wires, poking out from the bottom of the leg where it had been cut, so... there was probably more inside.
"Is this kinda simulation good for someone having to fight against those robots the cops use in the city?" She'd seen one on the news. They were rarer than she had figured they would be coming to the city... probably reserved for special calls, or departments?
Eventually she had herself sat with her legs around its shoulders, and one hand sunk into the metal of its head to keep herself anchored. She was able to keep the rest of her phased since her hand was protected, which helped since she was blindly grasping around in what felt like a bucket of metal scrap. There were wires, sure, but also pointy edges and blocky bits that hurt when you stubbed your fingers into them unexpectedly.
Grabbing a fistful of wires with her bare hand turned out to be a terribly idea, as the second she tried to tug on them a bit something sparked and shocked the hell out of her. "GAH!" Jesus, she hadn't yelped like that in a long ass time! She yanked harder, phasing the fistful of colorful rubber and copper out with her. Something dislodged, or a connection was lost, and her robot suddenly powered down.
The whole thing tipped over suddenly and she had to crawl out from under it, which was a lot less cool looking than she has been going for, while trying to shake the electric feeling out of her hand.
"Well... there are certainly wires. I need rubber gloves for this, jeez."
That just left one active robot, right? But... where? Was it the one flinging chunks of the environment at them?
The robot behind her suddenly started beeping. She turned to blink at it dumbly. Had the wire thing not worked?
"Warning: Internal circuitry board has been tampered with. Self destruction sequence has been initiated. In Three..."
"...Uuuuhhhh." Juniper spun and took off running toward Serena. "I broke it!"
"Two..."
She full on hid behind the woman, gripping on and getting ready to phase the both of them if needed in case the thing actually did explode.[/i][/i]
Serena tried hard not to get distracted, and to keep avoiding the remaining two robots. But it was hard, Juniper was honestly just impressive. Serena couldn't imagine she'd been in many fights, especially ones that looked anything remotely like this, and yet she was handling herself remarkably well.
"I-uh" She ducked a swing and flung an orb of blood at an arm, to little effect. Piercing really was the way to go with this program apparently. "Mostly vampires, hoards of vampires. You know-" She strained while moving and talking and fighting. "All the blood, certainly seemed appropriate"
Serena dimly registered the question as she flung a spike straight through one's head, watching it collapse down into a heap on the ground. Interesting question. "I suppose you could, I've never thought of that though." She rolled away from another blow and backed up as Juniper interacted with the one on the ground.
Eyes widening she took a few steps back and noted Juniper hiding behind her. Serena quickly gathered all of the blood she had left in front of her, and hardened it into a shield, giving it a little flexibility. She hoped it would stop the shrapnel.
"It's okay, I've got it!" She made it just wide enough to cover her body and pushed it a couple of feet in front of her, making sure to bodily cover Juniper.
"Whoever programmed this is a sadist!" She half shouted, while hunkering down behind the woman. Who programmed in a self destruct sequence?! Who did that??
It felt silly hiding behind Serena from what was akin to an over zealous computer program, but... she'd be lying if she said she wasn't frightened of the thing potentially going, like, supernova or something. She'd only ever seen explosions in movies or on tv! This was out of the realm of her normal spectrum on so many levels!!
Whatever the case, Juniper still had a certain amount of trust in the X's, and since Serena was one of them she was going to place that faith in her. The Blonde hunkered in close and wrapped her arms around the woman's middle, phasing everything by those arms so she couldn't be flung back by the force or wind, or whatever.
Yes, that had happened before and it was always terribly embarrassing after.
"One."
There was a brief moment of silence and then the fallen robot exploded. Juniper didn't see it because her eyes were squeezed as tightly shut as she could get them. Bits and hunks of metal of all sizes rocketed around from the force of the explosion. The big pieces smacked into Serena's blood shield with enough force to push it back, while other smaller bits spattered into it and dropped to the ground. A few large chunks sailed straight over their heads and smacked right into the chest of the still standing robot, knocking it off its legs and flat onto its back.
Some of the smaller, sharp bits hit the ground around the shield and bounced up towards the two Blonds. Juniper wasn't able to save Serena from taking a few hits from the smaller, sharper pieces since her eyes were still very much shut.
Oops!
She'd have to reflect on that later. Once the sound of hailing hunks of metal finally stopped she cracked in eye open, then both of them.
Whelp. That had certainly been an explosion alright.
Standing from the awkward crouch she had found herself in, she let go of the woman's waist and stepped back slightly to survey the damage. Also...
"Holy crap you have some serious abs, Serena." The teen blinked, finally looking the woman over fully. "You are also totally bleeding. Are you alright??"
Serena as it turned out, didn't totally have it, she felt the sharp twing of several small cuts on her cheek and shoulder, after a few moments she looked down her cheek didn't feel cold, a little hot, and the shoulder cuts definitely weren't too deep. They would likely heal up absolutely fine. She gently lowered the blood shield to the ground and frantically scanned the room to verify that there were no more threats, and then before thoroughly checking herself over she turned around and began to check over the woman that had been clinging to her waist a few moments before.
"You're not hurt at all?" After double checking, adrenaline still pumping through her body Serena's lips spread into a grin. "I'm sorry, is there something wrong with abs?" Serena liked abs, she liked girls with abs. She liked squishier girls too. Serena just liked pretty ladies.
"So I am." She shrugged. "It's fine, they're not deep. I'll heal." She tilted her head. "Sorry. That was intense, not supposed to happen at all. Are you sure you're okay?"
Juniper was fine. Not a scratch on her, actually. It was pretty hard to hurt her when she was paying attention and the threat was easy to track.
She did feel a little guilty for letting Serena get hurt when she could have prevented it. It was a little harder holding two people phased, but not much. She'd just been caught off guard by the whole Robot-exlody part of the training lesson.
"Oh no, nothing wrong with abs at all. You've got really nice ones." She miiiight have forgotten she was talking to someone who worked for the school for just a moment. "Nice abs must be appreciated. Preferably with kisses."
Too late now! "So not all training scenarios end in movie quality theatrical explosions?" The shorter girl glanced around at the mechanical carnage, where pieces and chunks were still zapping with electricity here and there.
"Not gonna lie, I'll be disappointed in the next lesson I pop in on though... Unless you're there for that one as well."
Juniper smiled, but the edges of her smile curled just a little bit too much to hold purely friendly intentions.
As the adrenaline ebbed Serena's brain caught up with what Juniper had just said and felt her cheeks flushing in blush. "I-wha-" Juniper moved on with the topic, and Serena tried to keep up "Kisses?" her voice was a little more shrill than it had been earlier, a couple of notes higher.
Serena shrugged mechanically, vaguely aware of the ache the movement caused. "I suppose that depends on who is doing the training, Sam's might involve more explosions, mine generally speaking, do not." She smiled slightly timidly. "I either do real world scenarios or vampires, generally." she admitted. Either bloodless, or lots of blood.
Okay, she was definitely flirting. Something about Juniper... "Y-" The Brit cleared her throat. "You said you were a student? You seem a bit more..." Flirty? Cute? Attractive? What was the word... "Mature." She admitted, moving the remaining blood back into containers, cleaning any that had seeped into her clothes at the same time and closing the containers.
Oooooh, she was blushing. The red was cute on her. "Kisses. That's how you worship a glorious body in my experience." Man, April was totally rubbing off on her a bit.
She nodded along with the explanation, filing it away in mental cabinets for later. So not everyone went through training with whacky exploding robots, then. That was good to know. It did leave her wondering what other kinds of hijinx people got to in the simulation room. All she could think of was dirty scenarios, of course.
She smiled a little wider at the Mature comment and shrugged her shoulders. "I'm 19, and in the GED program. Not exactly a regular student like the others."
Was it just her or did Serena seem a bit flustered? The notion certainly wasn't helping spur along the idea that she should back off a bit. If anything it was driving her to want to see how much was needed to get the woman blushing again.
"I have a hard time helping myself around very attractive women, though. Being around you is quite tempting." She winked and rolled around a chunk of metal on the ground with a shoe.
