The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Veronica shrugged. "I don't get this need of yours to seek validation in others, just be happy with yourself." She snorted. "Hell, if that's what you're looking for the fact that I can tolerate you should tell you more than enough."
Veronica was getting dangerously close to complimenting her sister. "I wouldn't go that far." Veronica thought out loud. "Just because I don't pine after a relationship like you do don't mean that I can't appreciate how things and people look. Just don't feel the need to be loud about it."
She'd found people attractive, physically speaking, she just didn't assume that looks equated to a tolerable existence, that was one too many coinciding factors.
"You are. Stop it." She meant it, Addy worried about things too much. "Stop worrying. You'll give yourself early wrinkles. You take long enough putting your make up on already without having to cover those up."

Addy let out a long, audible sigh. "I don't know...I just...I want to be...I don't know accepted?" she said with a shrug. "I know, you tolerating me makes me special," she continued, "But that doesn't count because I have an advantage in being your 'older' sister." Deep down, the word 'tolerated' kind of cut Addy a little. Veronica meant the world to her. She knew it was genuine, but the word choice sort of got to her, and brought her back to Veronica's petty phase after Addy's powers made themselves known.
Shaking off these feelings, she nodded at Veronica's sort-of almost compliment. "I wish I was better at hiding it, honestly. Takes more effort, but...I don't know I just have this fear of being alone..." she drained her drink. On the one hand she really needed to get all of this off her chest, but on the other, she didn't like talking about these things. Addy hoped Veronica never turned on her because if she did, there would be so much ammo the other mutant could use against her electrical sister.
"Oh, because you said stop it I have to now. Why didn't I think of that?" She said sarcastically, her voice showing that she was definitely teasing, something her sister was more than used to by now. "Hey. Perfection takes time," she said with a smirk.
If Veronica was being perfectly honest, and in a situation she totally couldn't escape with a therapist sworn to confidentiality, she was a little jealous of her sister. Veronica claimed that Addy needed to care about things less, which to an extent was how she really felt. But a part of her also wished she was as in touch and free with her feelings as Addy was, it just wasn't who Veronica was.
"Like 30 seconds of time outside of our mother's womb doesn't make you more emotionally mature than me." She muttered.
Veronica rolled her eyes for dramatic effect and reached out and gently took her sisters hand with an amount of tenderness that surprised her. "Hey, dummy. I'm not going anywhere. You're never alone. That's what having a twin means." She squeezed her sister's fingers gently. "No matter how much you annoy me, I'm always going to be here when it really counts, got that?"
"And of course you do, as I consistently prove, I'm the smart sister." A playful smirk was touching her lips, she let go of her sister's hand and resumed attacking her lunch.

"You missed the point. It's not that I'm emotionally more mature, not by a long shot," she explained, rolling her eyes. "I have the advantage over everyone else because you can't get rid of your sister as easily as you can everyone else." She winked.
Addy jumped just a little when Veronica took her hand; that did not happen much. She was sure it was a mixture of just Veronica's personality, and the fact that touching Addy, even without her actively using her powers, always produced this little tingly feeling that made the hairs on one's arms stand on end, like being too close to a balloon that had been rubbed viciously against your hair.
"Thanks, sis. Sometimes I just wish I was tougher." Like you. Addy was soft; her tough goth exterior was just a facade. Deep down there was emotion. There was hope. There was vulnerability and weakness.
The emotional moment faded and Addy sat back with arms folded across her chest. "You are such a slow eater," she commented, finishing her drink as she gave a teasing smirk.
Veronica rolled her eyes. She was showing one thing on the outside but there was definitely something boiling below the surface. As much as she hated the whole ‘feelings’ thing, Addy drew them out of her. It wasn’t just that Addy was her sister, she was related by blood to her parents and she couldn’t stand to be around them. “You’re the one that’s missed the point.” She sighed.
“I don’t want to get rid of you, it’s got nothing to do with blood.” She muttered a little quietly. She really hated the way that Addy got to her, but Veronica still couldn’t bring herself to not be around her sister at all. Even when she was furious about the whole power thing, it was hard to not be around Addy. Avoiding her had been.. More trying than Veronica let on to anyone.
“Maybe if you put some effort into not being so lame, you’d be tougher.” She shot back before returning to her meal.
“Look, I’m sorry if I don’t inhale food like you, we can’t all unhinge our jaws like snakes.”

"Maybe," Addy finally conceded. "I do that alot." She shrugged, brushing a bit of blonde hair out of her face as she propped her head on her fists, looking at her sister. She didn't say anything in response to Veronica not wanting to get rid of her, but the soft look in her eyes said that Addy took it to heart; it was something she really needed to hear. Especially from her sister.
"Well, we can't all be naturally cool like you," she teased, and then rolled her eyes at the mention of her eating habits. "Who's sounding like Mom, now?" she quipped, her voice slightly teasing as she looked coyly over at the other girl.
"Anyway, lunch is almost done so what do ya say after this we go have some fun. I've got a can of spray paint in my bag," she offered with another shrug.
Veronica sighed, and closed her eyes momentarily. "You can be exhausting." She opened them again. "Yes, yes you do. Christ, what's it going to take for you to stop caring so much? Someone need to break your heart?" Veronica didn't say it, but she'd cut any bitch that broke her sister's heart. She'd probably kick them too.
"They do say natural talent is rare. And I am pretty blessed." She admitted shamelessly. She was fast, pretty healthy, had a dope ass power, and the voice of a F----- angel. She wasn't remotely shy about admitting it.
"Funny. Jokes on you, when has she ever watched us eat anything? Or been around us for that long?" She raised an eyebrow. "Man. Your comebacks suck. I really need to teach you a thing or two, or you're going to end up getting into a bad situation, or mouthing off to the wrong person."
Veronica more or less finished her lunch and glanced up at her sister, taking the time to wipe her face with a napkin before replying. "Yes. Lets."

"I mean my whole thing is draining energy," she quipped dryly. "Not sure what it'll take but if anybody breaks my heart I'm breaking their nose..." she grumbled, looking down at her empty plate and idly dragging her finger across the crumbs.
"I guess I slept in when they handed out the coolness, but I cut in line when they were handing out talent, then."
She grumbled at Veronica's next words; she was bad at the verbal banter, she had to admit. Though she never would verbally. "I mean...maybe my fists get the point across better than my words, eh?" she said with a shrug, silently conceding the verbal battle to her twin, as she usually did. But one had to give Addy props for trying.
The blonde stood to her feet, wiping her mouth on her sleeve. "Cool. Let's go wreck some ****," she said with a wicked grin, leading her sister out of the restaurant and into the streets, looking for something they could get into.
