The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Rayne watches as Shelby throws the binky away and raises an eyebrow. Strange to throw something away that needs to be kept clean...then again she seems very confused. When she is handed a whole wallet Rayne goes straight for the license and nothing else. To her, while she was given the whole wallet, it would be an invasion of privacy.
Upon seeing the ID though Rayne freeze for a good few seconds. There is no way this ID is right...it says shes around 30..not 20. Plus she looks so much older here. What the hell is going on?! Her thoughts are chaotic before looking at Shelby.
"You don't look or sound like you are high on something, so I don't think you are..." Rayne was going to suggest that she pull over and is glad when Shelby does on her own. "Look, I think something happened in that store that is making you forget. Its the only explanation for everything."
By the time Rayne had fished out her ID, Shelby had laid down with her face in the steering wheel, quietly trying to center herself before she dove any deeper into a panic attack.
It helped, a lot actually, that the woman wasn't freaking out either. She didn't think she could handle anymore mass hysteria right now, after that fiasco in the grocery store.
"...Forgot?" She echoed hollowly, before lifting her face from the steering wheel and sitting up. She sniffled to herself as she thought about it.
...it.. it certainly explained a lot. All of the blank spots with, little glimpses of things here and there?
"That makes sense... I just wish I knew how and why." Shelby took a deep breath, holding it slightly before letting it back out.
"The last thing I remember was being in Seattle, with my girlfriend. We had attended a protest against some new rule the mayor was trying to enact that just wasn't fair at all to people with mutations, and it turned into a big fight..."
She found herself squinting out the windshield as cars passes by on the road beside them. The little foggy bits of memories she felt were there she just couldn't get a grip on. Like when you dreamed vividly, but struggled to remember what it was upon waking up.
She could glimpse flashes of red, and feel that there might have been anxiety... and something about a horrible laughing sound?
"hell.. how long did it even take to get me here? Isn't it a few hours of flight between Seattle and New York? What day is it?"
... how long had she been out? How had she gotten into that grocery store?

With one person freaking out and near hysteria, it would do no good for her to also freak out. Even if she kind of is. Who wouldn't after all of that at the store. "I don't know why you forgot, maybe you hit your head when you fell? Blacking out can cause memory loss, even for a little while. It should come back, though I don't know when." She cant smell alcohol on her so she knows she hasn't been drinking enough to black out that way. To know for sure she would need to go to the hospital.
"If you want to know why you cant remember, we could always go to the hospital around here. They can help you out more than I could. Blood work and maybe a head scan to see if you hit your head at all?" Rayne isn't a doctor so she cant help her with her memory loss or anything but going to a doctors office might be able too.
Rayne Is quiet for a few moments before pressing her point again. "I think you really should go to the hospital. They can help you out more than just providing answers that could lead to more confusion." She doesn't want to give her more of a melt down if her memory loss tends to be more than a few years, which to her, looking at everything, it will be.
Hit her head? She immediately started feeling around a bit for bumps or bruised spots. There was a spot on the back of her head that hurt a little... so... yeah, maybe that was a valid explanation. It was certainly better than simply losing a bunch of memories and time on accident?
"No.. you're right. That seems logical. I woke up on the floor anyway, so I must've hit my head at some point." As disconcerting as it still was, having a possible explanation to cling to did make her feel marginally better.
The thought of heading over to get checked out was also pretty logical, and yet... she totally did not want to. Hospitals were @#$%ing expensive and she was a broke college kid with the most basic health insurance.
"That makes perfect sense, but I don't know if I can. I'm not from this state, or... I wasn't originally? Christ, I've never been out of Seattle... this is so whack."
Groaning slightly and dragging a hand down her face, she started to get a grip again. "I think-"
A fire truck raced past and interrupted her.
"... I think I need to try and get ahold of my parents. They would know me better than anyone and could maybe explain all of this. Or at least tell me if I was kidnapped and shipped out of state or something."
Was it normal to feel just absolutely drained after having a few consecutive panic attacks in a row?
"Um... speaking of kidnapping." Shelby managed a small smile and aimed it guiltily at Rayne. "Since I basically kidnapped you from the store back there, is there somewhere you want me to drop you off or take you? I don't know if going back there is safe right now."

Rayne relaxes a bit when Shelby starts to agree with her idea of her hitting her head sometime in the past hour or so since she has so much memory loss and all that. Rayne really didn't want to have to argue about something with someone who was mentally not all there due to an injury. "I don't think the hospital will care that you aren't from around here. I'm sure they get people from other states and countries who are on vacation and get hurt. I just want to make sure you are ok Shelby." She wasn't going to let her just drive off when she doesn't remember anything recent.
When the fire truck races by them, Rayne stiffens some and winces ever so slightly at the loud noise, her ears ringing for a few seconds before looking at Shelby when she speaks again. "Calling your parents would be a good start, do you know their number by heart or is it in your phone?" Rayne just hopes that her phone is locked by finger print and not a passcode...that would make things difficult.
Rayne shakes her head. "Like I said, I'm not leaving until I know you have someone to go to that you know...or the hospital." Leaving someone behind is not her style.
