The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The Native cackled, "Yeah... I've heard that before." She either scared the pants off people, or they weren't bothered in the slightest do to her age and size. There didn't seem to be an in between.
"Hey, it's no skin off my back if you wanna stay. I don't give a @#$% what those stuffy mansion goers think." She started out of the room, heading back toward the main room. She had some extra blankets stuffed somewhere, and they could just camp out on the floor.
"If you wanna stay I can just shoot you back over there with the nerds tomorrow.. but don't tell anyone that it was me that took you off grounds! It's hard enough sneaking in there already, I don't need anyone head hunting for me."
As soon as she was back in the main room, she started shifting around through boxes and baskets until she found a large, fluffy looking comforter. It was a king size, so it dwarfed her as she hefted it out.
"I like you now though," he said brightly. "You're really cool."
He bit his lip, thinking about it; the kid really found himself torn. He didn't want to get in even deeper trouble than he already was, but he was enjoying spending time with his new friend. He followed her out of the room, still thinking. He knew it wouldn't be the best idea, but...maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
"I won't tell anyone. Maybe if I'm sneaky enough, they won't even know I left," he mused. "I'll just tell them I wandered off or something...Got lost and had to wait til morning." He shrugged; lying wasn't really his thing. He plopped on the couch, looking over at her, still questioning his own judgement, but...he got sort of a rush from this, and he had to admit, he kind of liked it.
Hearing another, older kid tell her that she was really cool did nothing but bolster the thoughts she already had about herself.
Yeah, she was pretty great, wasn't she? Damn straight.
She strutted about throwing various pillows and blankets on the floor, forming a mass of semi comfort amidst the ruins of the house they were in. Then, she stopped in the middle of the pile and concentrated on splitting off three more clones. It took a bit of time, but eventually there were now 4 Elke's standing there chattering at each other. The one who looked the most annoyed was clearly the original.
"Alright, troops! Grab a spot and bunker down! It's lights out!"
Moving over to a very old fashioned oil lamp, Elke fished out a match and got it going. It cast eerie shadows along the walls but did a pretty good job at keeping the total dark at bay.
After setting it on a table nearby, she headed for the couch and tugged on one of the cushions. "You and I get to sleep on the cushions. They are just here for body heat." She jerked her chin at her twins, who were all flopping themselves into a pile on the floor.
After gaining her cushion, Elke headed on over to wedge herself into the pile, and waved Beau over as well. "C'mon! Before you freeze your gills off over there."
Watching her make the clones was about as weird as seeing them melt into a pile of goo, to be honest, but he couldn't look away for some reason. It was so weird, and yet so interesting. Probably what people had thought about him.
At some point, it dawned on Beau that this wasn't some clubhouse. She lived like this. Every day. It made him feel bad for her, but from her language it didn't sound like she wanted to stay at the mansion. So he didn't say anything about it. With a silent nod, he grabbed his cushion and made his way over to the pile, still not taking off his hoodie as he curled up amongst Elke and her clones.
As he closed his eyes to go to sleep, he snuggled up to one of them extra close, because he dared not hug the real one.
