Mutations
Mutation description: Scott's nickname and alias, Brittle, was earned through the cost that his power gives him. Scott gained the ability to teleport short distances with no risk, or long distances through memory. However, this has made his body incredibly easy to harm. He has also developed the ability to sense strong emotions nearby, although these cause disadvantages reactions to his body, and he has the minor ability to sense mutations. Strengths: Scott can jump short distances freely. Unlike most teleporters, Scott possesses an innate sense, which prevents him from teleporting within objects that are within the area he has jumped to. This sense only works at short range jumps, and ensures that, should he teleport into an area, and attempt to appear where an object is standing, Scott will appear next to or on top of the object instead. Scott is also able to pick up on strong emotions in his general area, although his body tends to react to emotions, often causing his eyes to water and his ears to ring. Scott can also sense mutations. He is limited in that he cannot sense what level they are, nor can he pick up what their powers are. He can only predict that they are mutants. Weaknesses and Limitations: Issues: Scott can teleport short distances without risk or need for memory, but struggles to handle more than a few jumps at a time. After approximately five jumps without rest, Scott may become light-headed and weak, and may even collapse. This is because each jump tends to remove fluids from his body, including saliva, water, and even blood. Scott is also capable of jumping long distances, but this proves to be more difficult, and requires memory, or he may appear in an object. Scott can teleport others over long distances, but can only teleport one person at a time. When doing so, that person will almost always collapse once they reach their destination. They can also only take small items with significant personal value. Everything else is left behind. Scott's alias, Brittle, was earned because of the weakness his body displays. Although Scott can travel great distances, he payed for it with physical durability. Scott is unbelievably fragile, to the point where rain, if hard enough, would damage and scar his skin. Scott is remarkably easy to bruise and harm.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Strength: Scott is deceptively stronger than he looks, but not by much. Speed: Scott is quick on his feet, and very hard to keep up with. Reflexes: Scott has decently enhanced reflexes, but tries not to rely on them often, as his fragile body cannot handle blocking most attacks. Stamina: Scott has a surprising amount of stamina, but still cannot keep going for extensive periods of time. Flexibility: Scott is rather flexible. He is also shockingly agile. Endurance: Scott is able to handle many hardships, such as hunger, thirst, fatigue, pain and stress, for extended periods of time, although this is simply because of years of practice. Fighting Style: Scott utilises an odd fighting style, which he created on his own. However, he refuses to rely on it, due to the fragility of his body. Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Scott's fighting style is quick and lithe. It involves fasting turning and spinning movements, and use of targeted punches, kicks, elbow strikes and knee strikes to sensitive soft spots on the body, to deal extensive damage to his foe, without harking his delicate body. Tight spaces can greatly hinder his ability to defend himself.
History Of Your Character When Scott was little, he would often get bullied by kids at school for his dyslexia. He would very often sneak around his own neighborhood, just to avoid them... not that it worked. He had a loving family, at least for a while. Once his mother died of frontotemporal dementia, Scott's father became more distant. He began to drink, an soon turned to abusing his own son. It was around the age of 10, that Scott's mutation first activated. He became far more brittle, and hurt easily, until he eventually became a reclusive, staying away from the outside. On one trip, where his father took him to Seattle, Scott couldn't handle the abuse anymore. And so, he ran away. He struggled on the streets, moving from one city to the next, until he was picked up by a mutant gang. As time went by, he started to learn to defend himself, he practiced running, and taught himself how to fight. By the age of thirteen, Scott had risen up to become the gang's head of smuggling. However, his fragility came back to bite him, in an incident, where Scott sacrificed much of himself to protect someone else, leaving him scarred and damaged. He prefers not to speak of this incident. He soon splintered from the gang, becoming his own separate group, which handled smuggling on a much wider scale. This went on for many years, until, in the very year that he turned sixteen, he found his way to a strange mansion, a school, for gifted individuals. Although he is skeptical of the fact that he belongs in such a place, he doesn't dare turn it down. A soft bed, a warm meal, a roof over his head... and a family that won't abandon him... that's more than he ever had before.
Roleplay What’s your OOC alias?: Scott Where did you learn about this site?: I found it myself. Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: No Sample RP: Pain... or life? That was the dilemma. Scott knew he could leave, just save himself of the pain... but what of... it? The tiny form, wrapped in blankets in his arms. He couldn't take it with him, if he jumped. He would have to leave it behind. Scott looked up, across the flooded road, to where the mother stood, screaming for her child... hysterical, almost. Scitt looked down at the tiny form again. *It's not mine.* He thought. *It's never done anything for me.* He stared down at the reddened face, screaming out in unintelligible wails. Scott looked up again, at the mother, and at the rain pouring down. *If I go out there... I'll be ruined. There might not even be enough of me left to make it out.* He reminded himself. *So... why can't I leave it?* He questioned silently, staring down at the baby. Scott knew what this was. Marcus, testing him. He had tried to help someone, who Marcus wanted dead... and now Scott was paying the price. Left in a flooded city, trapped in a building that could collapse any second, with torrential rains falling from the heavens like bullets on a battlefield, Scott was given a choice. Scott could jump, and save himself, but the baby would die. Or, Scott could carry the baby across the cars and debris that somehow held their ground in the flood, and return the baby to it's mother. But doing so, would ruin Scott physically forever, with only a mask to protect his face. And yet, that was only if Scott could reach the other side. If Scott failed to do so, or tripped into the flood, he'd have killed them both. "Decisions, decisions." Said a voice from over Scott's shoulder. Scott flinched, listening to the sound of someone who he had once called a friend. "Better choose quick, Scott. This building won't hold much longer..." As if on que, the building shuddered, struggling to maintain itself against the rushing water that bombarded its sides constantly. Scott took a deep breath, feeling a hand push him forward. *I can do this... I can do this... I can do this...* He told himself. Scott closed his eyes, making his decision. The sounds of the world seemed to wash away, and Scott knew what he had to do. And he slowly opened his eyes. And then... with a deep breath, Scott tucked the baby under his body... and jumped.
