Character
Personality:
When met and interacted with, he is often warm and jovial. Rich is the type of man to offer a quick joke and "light up your smoke". He is always happy to keep his friends entertained and healthy, and looks for the next big party. Mostly, he makes sure they are doing okay emotionally, but if they are hungry or something physical he will do what he can before sending them to the hospital. To the more serious characters, he would be seen as the unfocused type. Thankfully, his carefree nature is capable of being turned off when the times are right.Particularly when those he cares about are in danger or someone does something to raise his ire. Being around sadistic people and the like generally keep him from being carefree as well.
Since getting his powers, he has actually come out of his shell. He became a lot more boisterous, and stubborn. It's hard to be afraid of much when you can get hit by a bus and barely feel a thing. He still isn't sure how he feels about being among those the rest of the world is trying to either kill or are just plain afraid of. At times he feels like a monster, but he knows what he does is helping turn the tide.
He is a worrier often times. The biggest sources of worry for him are friends, family, and his own safety. Other big ones are whether people like him, and whether there is someone out there who can rein him in. Rich often wonders if he deserves love with the trouble that tends to come with him. Mutants aren't exactly everyone's favorite people, and his mutation isn't very easily hidden. Given who he is (a vigilante) and what he does, it might make it hard to find people who truly care about him. Not to mention he is just an odd goofball that even other mutants could find to be less than appealing. It's easier for him to focus on other people's happiness than his own. He does this partly because the thought of others suffering is a travesty, and also partly because he has a hard time addressing his own problems. Still, he can be depended on to be there when someone is going all in and needs support. For all the flaws, he has a big heart and a working brain.
Hobbies/ Interests: Food, Sports, Fighting, Musical Performance, Writing, Video Games
Job or part time job and description: Restaurant Dish Washer
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Heights, Snakes, Rejection, Small Spaces, Not being strong enough, Being eaten, People with more than 2 nipples, Being in front of a large crowd
Special talents:
Some of his more human like skills include talent on the gridiron and behind a piano. He was a former all-star lineman in highschool and college. Some of which could be contributed to his mutation, other to natural talent. He was the sack leader for the league for 2 years until he graduated college.
In middle school, he was discovered to have quite the male voice to go along with piano lessons he had been getting since he was 7. Along with his sports scholarships, there were a few school vying for his artistic talents as well. Ultimately, he went his own way
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other: Almost obnoxiously Good. Like.....Purposefully throwing himself under a bus (literally or socially) kind of good. Rich is the kind of man who tries to do the right regardless of whether or not law says so. Very few times does he ever even approach things neutrally let alone being on the side of bad.
MutationsMutation description: Technorganic physiology is a bit of a blanket term, but in this case, it means that Richard is a conglomerate of organic and inorganic matter. In terms of function, his body still does just about anything a human can do. IE., Blood still flows, Skin still sweats, hair still gets greasy after a good workout. The difference being that every part of his body, internal and external, is infused with high strength, inorganic material. His X-Gene, in broad terms, turned him into a very strong and durable person. It does this through changing genetic code that his body is made of. Essentially re writing it to make it a new form of matter entirely. An amalgam of metals and organic material.
Strengths:
Organic Metal Body (Enhanced Durability)
Rich's genetic makeup was changed at the activation of his X-Gene. His cells became extremely durable and better conductors of electricity. If the genetic code is siphoned out, it was come up as a tungsten and steel alloy. Ridiculously strong and dense against massive amounts of physical damage. Perhaps against his better judgement, he has jumped in front of moving vehicles to test his limits and got away with only a couple of bruises. While he is as mobile with this form as would be a normal human form, his speed and agility are not any different. It does, however, greatly enhance his strength and endurance. For example, he is able to stand temperatures up until -250F to 2000F, and explosive powerup to 300 pounds of TNT.
Superhuman Strength
While he has not actually tested this yet, his limit is just over 10 tons and anything more is very strenuous and just not a good idea. Unfortunately, there isn't much he can practice to see how far he can actually get on, so getting beyond that is unlikely. Thankfully, he knows proper lifting technique from high school. This allows him to liftsafely and easier than just brute muscle. Technique vs. Brute in this case.
Weaknesses and Limitations:
Extra Weight
With all the enhancements, there are some hindrances. He was not a good swimmer before the X-Gene and it managed to get worse when everything changed. He cannot breathe underwater and just sinks to the bottom of whatever body of water he is in. (If the power is active) Things that might creek under a human's foot would snap under Rich's. And he doesn't have a way to turn himself off.
Durability
While he is built to take damage, once he reaches his limit things can get disastrous. He doesn't heal any quicker than a normal human, but it is a hell of a lot harder to treat him if he is injured. At least, without special equipment. Hence why he doesn't want to try to take on actual anti-tank technology. This is because most medical equipment likely does not have the same properties as to what cause the damage. Imagine, trying to sow steel back together with only a basic first aid kit and a bit of hope. Not really going to work unless you, again, have special equipment. Rich reaching his actual limits is not something he ever really wants to do. It just depends on the pulling power. He generally stays away from shipping docks because of this. It's a rule of thumb, at this point. Not to mention it makes using almost every appliance ever a pain in his metal ass to use. It's a reason a dishwashing job suits him. No machines to break.
Magnets
The man is a combination of metal and human bits. Because of this being around things like magnets can cause issues with his own natural magnetic attracting properties. A powerful enough magnet can pull him from his spot. It also cause electronics to lose some power when he is near. So much so he has to often buy signal boosters for his cell to make sure it works right.
Temperatures
Much like actual metal, raising or lowering the core temperature of Rich some negative effect begin to be taken on. The more drastic the temperature, the more crippling the effect. For example, in temperatures of extreme cold Rich's form begin to grow more brittle. Likewise, in extremely high temps, his strength begins to be drained as the strength of his molecules begins to break down and become more malleable.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Even without the mutation, Rich's stats tend to lean towards his strength and stamina. He as honed them from years of training. Unfortunately, Speed def took a hit on this one. He is pretty slow. Flexibility could use improvement and reflexes are average.
Fighting Style: He generally likes to mix his martial arts training in with his techniques from other sports.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: His generally lends itself keeping a good base and not letting yourself get pushed around. Strong strikes/blocks/etc. Not a style you want to get in front of. However, it can be avoided if an opponent is quick and/or has long range.
History Of Your Character
Rich grew up in a lower-middle class family, in rural Western New York. They didn't have much but they made do. He always had enough loving from his parents and that's all the young man ever really wanted. As a small child he was very shy and clung to Mommy most of the time. Dad was the disciplinarian, and Little Richie was not always well-behaved. Thankfully, neither parent had super strength to spank him with, or mutations for that matter.
When he was young, there was a time some extra of his family lived with him. During this stint, two of his cousins took a liking to him. It was harmless, at first. The extra affection here and there became a normal thing. Eventually, and repeatedly, it reached far past a point that was appropriate and Richard refuses to talk about it. If it's even remotely mentioned, he immediately shuts down or isolates himself.
Like most siblings he and his older sister fought from time to time. While things cooled off as they grew older, it was vicious it you caughtthem on the right day. Fists flew, chairs were through. It was World War 3 if they caught each other in a bad mood.
He was frequently bullied in elementary school and got into fights. Sports and music became his outlet for any and all emotions. It made him happy and kept the sanity intact. That passion for both is very present, to this day. He always has some sort of musical listening device on him and takes it out when he isn't actively doing anything else. If it was anything else, you'd say he was addicted and should seek help.
Middle school was even worse with the bullying. His grades suffered and he ended up transferring schools because of the issue. Rich's parents put him into therapy and martial arts to try to deal with the problem, but it only ever seemed to scratch the surface of what he would ever allow himself to reveal to others. Eventually he stopped going altogether because it never seemed like they would get anywhere.
High school was interesting because, like everyone else, Rich was trying to figure out who he was. This becomes more difficult when you also find you are one of those things that the world is trying to figure out what to do with. He was just glad he wasn't a possible target until junior year rolled around. Watching the news involving mutants for so long, he tried to ignore it. "Not my circus, not my monkeys." Given the events he was forced to form an opinion, and he landed on...life. "People should be allowed the chance to live their life as they choose." Of course, he also understood why mutants were so scary and why humans feared them. Richard wanted to bridge the gap, but didn't have a way to do so.
The defining moment that he accidentally activated his X-Gene is not a happy story. The narrative involves a late rainy night, an overworked semi-driver, and a friend who decided to not wear a seat belt. Richard was in the back resting after a strong showing against a cross state rival. The stat sheet was in his hands, and the three of them were dancing to a song that he can't remember now. They drifted a little too far into the lane of a man who had not seen his family in over a week. The tires screamed and broken glass was everywhere. It lead from the road to the power lines, then the ditch below. The car looked like a mangled box mixed in with brushes and blood. He had two less friends, in a matter of about four seconds.
He didn't speak for almost week and Rich became reclusive after that. His parent tried to get him back into therapy but he refused. It didn't feel like a good idea to reveal his new abilities to anyone. That night didn't come up again until two weeks before graduation. He was in a low and his parents had enough and sat him down. Richie finally opened up to them. They talked about everything from that night to his biological changes. While it didn't seem obvious until now, but his parents already knew about x-gene. They also understood the feelings he had surrounding his friend's deaths. At the end of the conversation there were tears and hugs. His parents accepted him and they would try their best to keep him safe.
College is where he honestly tried to buckle down and get his act together. For the most part, he was successful. He studied hard, kept to himself, and fiddled around with his new state of being. Still, with no proper teacher the young man could only experiment so much without getting caught. He did manage, however, to find out a new barrier to himself after he tripped off a roof and completely ruined a security guard's parked golf cart.
In the last few years, Richard moved to the Big Apple, to find his own way. He is currently in his own place, coming fresh off of a college graduation. The advertising major has decided to enter underground video game tourneys to get spending money. However, a few nights a week, he does what any young man would dream of doing. He goes out after the things that go bump in the night, so he can bump them back...hard.
Presently, he is trying to find a job is his field of educational study.Given that his current job is in food service, he is going in a different direction. Still messing up crime, he is content with where he is at right now. The somewhat dumpy apartment allows him to be a lot more incognito so when he comes home early in the morning to a judgy landlord who can't even remember his name. Rich could have sworn last time they talked he called him Reggie.
Nevertheless, he keeps plugging away trying to live his life without getting caught. With the laws in place, they likely would not take it easy on him if it was discovered he was a random mutant on in the middle of no place who wasn't even registered yet. Not to mention the rumors he read online about abductions only made him more cautious out of costume. Now he is just trying to live long enough to be able to get a tax return to enjoy at some point.

Sample RP: It was late in the afternoon on a day that Rich was lucky enough to have off. After all, he had made some plans. He was having a friendly dinner with a friend and her young daughter. From what he understood, Rich and this little girl both had a physical mutation. Given his experience living with such a thing, he offered Gem the chance to expose her to a friendly mutant face. Gem has also being going through some things that she wanted to get off her chest. Some of which she told Rich, some of which he still had to find out.
Keeping it simple, he finished ordering some pizza and chicken wing from a local mom and pop kitchen. He ordered an extra just in case, with bread sticks. The thought made his stomach grumble. This was sure to be among the tastiest thing he would have all week. Having just got paid, it was time to splurge.
Grabbing a shower, he slipped into a plain long sleeved shirt and jeans. Perfectly casual and appropriate for company. Realizing he needed to clean, he sprung into action taking care of the dishes and cleared the table.
It was then he thought he heard a knock at the door.
"Come on in, Gem. Door is open."
