CharacterPersonality: Courtney is an incredibly orderly person, keeping meticulous records and agendas. She can keep herself on task, priding her punctuality. She will be five minutes early to almost any meeting or engagement and while she gets annoyed when others are not as prompt, she keeps those thoughts to herself.
When something threatens to derail Courtney’s careful plans or schedules, she might face a moment of initial panic, but she has plenty of experience wrangling in plans that have gone awry. Thinking quickly on her feet, Courtney can improvise and change plans on the fly, salvaging what she can of her original intentions.
Courtney strives to be the best assistant, secretary, and any other role where she can provide aid and support. She derives enjoyment from following an order to the letter and completing tasks, and that feeling serves as a reward to encourage her further. She’s diligent, thorough, and if she is supposed to be loyal to someone, she’ll be downright dutiful in her service to them.
At a glance, Courtney is surprisingly mousy. When left to herself, she will get lost in a book or magazine, and she speaks quietly. Her timidity is mostly a front unless she is responding to someone she is working for. She is efficient with her words, often speaking straight to the point with witty and, when necessary, cold comments.
When Courtney falls in line behind someone who is a particularly strong, dominant personality, it can be easy for her to lose herself as a follower. She is not going to challenge the ideas and proposals of someone she is following, for better or worse, and she can find it difficult to shake herself free when she has been following the “wrong” person.
Hobbies/ Interests:Job or part time job and description: Syndicate Secretary, along with some efficiently scheduled nightwork.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Courtney has a fear of fire. Nothing as dramatic as fearing a candle or fireplace, but truly uncontrolled fires leave her frozen in fear.
Losing her wings is a fear and a concern for Courtney. After a guardian proposed cutting away her wings as a child, she has always worried someone would do this to her one day, since she does not know if they will regrow.
Courtney is concerned that one day her mental faculties will start failing her and she’ll become someone forgetful who cannot manage their own life, let alone the lives of others.
Special talents: Courtney has high level administrative skills and she can type more than 100 words per minute. She has some artistic talents, having experience with paint and charcoal; nothing professional, but she’s talented for a hobbyist. Finally, upon request, she has a lovely singing voice.
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other: Courtney would claim to be neutral, though she is comfortable doing “bad” things if she trusts or follows a person who tells her to do them.
MutationsMutation description:Silver Dragon Physiology- Courtney’s features and abilities match the traits of silver dragons of fantasy and myth. She has sparling white-silver skin, with patches of scales along her shoulders, back, collarbone, cheekbones, hips, and underbust. Horns from between her temples curve up into points. A scaly silver tail protrudes from the base of her spine and leathery wings protruding from her shoulders.
As with many dragons of myth, silver dragons have a breath ability. Courtney has the ability to release a pressurized vapor that can reach temperatures as low as -200C. The liquid form of this vapor is stored in a sack in Courtney’s chest, with a pipe running alongside her trachea and esophagus so she can exhale it. Her tongue, mouth, and lips are all coated in the same membrane that allows her specialized internal organs to resist the temperatures of her own breath, and the composition of her teeth make them resistant to the cold and chemicals of her breath..
Strengths: Minimal exposure to Courtney’s breath can result in serious frostbite or ice burn. Prolonged exposure can cause the targeted object to freeze over and drop temperatures to dangerous or life-threatening levels for a person caught in the blast and unable to escape.
Due to the naturally low temperature of her body, Courtney handles cold weather very well.
Courtney has wings that provide her with a fourteen foot wingspan. Courtney’s wings provide her limited access to flight. They are very helpful for guiding and slowing a descent from a high place, and she can, with effort, take off and fly for a short time, allowing her to ascend and maneuver in the air.
Courtney’s skin is slightly more durable than a standard human. The spots protected by scales can protect from a weak bladed attack.
In a pinch, Courtney’s horns are very dangerous in a close-combat situation.
Weaknesses and Limitations:The amount of liquid stored in Courtney’s system for her cold breath is finite and takes time to reproduce. She can maintain a wider, less forceful cone of breath for two sustained minutes. A higher-pressure, targeted breath expends her resources twice as fast.
Once her breath is used, it will take another minute before her body resumes production of the liquid. It takes roughly two hours to fill the sack from empty, so every minute of replenishment regains about a second of breath. This replenishment process causes her to radiate heat, to the point where her normally cool skin would be hot to the touch.
It is difficult for Courtney to produce a prolonged, uninterrupted breath attack, since she cannot inhale while she is using this ability.
Courtney can fly leisurely for up to fifteen minutes before her wings would be too worn out to keep her in the air. This time diminishes drastically if she has to flap her wings quickly to gain altitude or maneuver suddenly. In this kind of high-stress flight, she can rarely manage for more than a few minutes.
Saying Courtney’s skin is more durable than a regular human is generous. She is slightly more resilient when it comes to scuffs and scrapes, yes, but a knife, sword, arrow, or bullet will pierce her without much resistance. Her scales can help deflect a weak strike an make those areas of her more protected, but not by much; with enough force, those scales will give way to a blade or piercing attack.
Due to her physiology, Courtney does not function well in hot temperatures. She’ll get sluggish and exhausted. If left in extreme heat, she will eventually lose consciousness.
Courtney’s appearance is not something she can shift out of, so she sticks out like a sore thumb in public. She cannot hide or avoid attention. Her wings can be a serious inconvenience in tight spaces. She also has to be conscious of her horns so she does not accidentally impale someone she is close with.
Physical AbilitiesGeneral Physical Capabilities: Courtney’s speed and strength are on par with a woman of her height and build who engages in daily exercise. She has better than average reflexes. She will proudly attest that her stamina and flexibility are quite impressive.
Fighting Style: Poseidon made sure Courtney was enrolled in self-defense classes, so when someone gets close, she can attempt to hit weak spots or get her attacker off balance. More practically, she will try to use her wings to knock them to the ground. Of course, this is assuming they get that close; Courtney is more than willing to use her breath to protect herself.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Attackers who can resist cold will not shy away from her breath. She’s not particularly strong, so if she’s not facing off against someone who is inexperienced with combat, she’ll be at a disadvantage. As helpful as her wings can be, using them also puts them at risk, as they can be broken with force similar to what it takes to break an arm.
History Of Your CharacterCourtney does not know the names of her parents. She was born a mutant, with patches of scaly skin, small wings, a tail, and horns. After a particularly painful birth, her parents decided they could not handle having a child like her, so she was left with an orphanage outside of Paris.
Growing up around children, many of whom were either scared to talk to Courtney or bullied her, she was almost silent for the first years of her life. She did her best not to start trouble, though it did little to help her case. In one instance when she was seven, a thirteen-year-old girl who harbored resentment and disgust toward mutants went too far. With her friends holding the mutant down, she asked Courtney if she was proud of her shiny, perfect skin, but the young girl was too scared to answer. The older girl lit a cloth on fire, letting the flame catch before throwing the cloth on Courtney’s stomach. If not for Courtney’s flailing and screaming, one of the caretakers might not have gotten to the girls in time to help.
It turned out, they arrived just in time to see part of Courtney’s mutation manifest. Her screaming was interrupted as a burst of shimmering silver vapor shot from Courtney’s mouth, forcing the bully to fall back. She shouted as her shoulder and face were raw and red from the cold blast.
When the situation was broken up, the caretakers got together and decided both girls were dangerous, but Courtney was genetically dangerous. She was transferred to an orphanage in Paris proper, thanks to the caretakers choosing to omit Courtney’s breath ability when requesting the transfer.
The new orphanage turned out to be an improvement for Courtney. Some kids still looked at her like an oddity, but two other children, Jacques and Amelia, took a liking to the girl whose wings were starting to grow almost as long as her arms. Bullies made comments, but Courtney’s friends were there for her. One older girl named Sophia saw how Courtney was being treated and made a point of looking after the young friend group.
Courtney idolized Sophia. She was friendly with Jacques and Amelia, but she wanted to do whatever she could to make Sophia happy with her. It was endearing and, once Sophia realized she couldn’t stop Courtney from her borderline hero worship, she decided to at least treat the girl who hung on her every word as well as possible.
Schooling came naturally to Courtney. Her teachers were amazed at how attentive, obedient, and directable the girl was. She never failed to do her homework, she did extra assignments offered by her instructors, and she was never a disciplinary problem.
Despite the odds, Courtney’s approach into adolescence let her blossom. She started making more friends who were not as deterred by scales and wings, and she had a reputation for being the friend who would make sure her friends had snacks and got their assignments done on time.
Courtney was sixteen when an opportunity to study in America as a foreign exchange student crossed her path. One of her instructors went as far as recommending her for the program and Courtney was curious about life in another country. With the encouragement, she signed up for the program and was accepted.
It was the first time since her youth Courtney was faced with the cold way the world could treat a mutant. She landed in New York and her host parents were shocked to see her. In his haste to get Courtney accepted into the program, her instructor had failed to make mention of the girl’s mutation in the referral.
The host parents let the girl into their car, but they were silent and fuming as they drove into the city. They finally reached a boiling point and the man pulled the car onto the side of the road. His wife agreed, opening Courtney’s door and demanding she get out. Courtney was terrified, but she complied with the request wordlessly, watching the people who were supposed to watch over her drive away, leaving her on the sidewalk.
The streets of New York were unkind and intimidating. It was late summer, and Courtney barely had the energy to move. She sought shelter from the sun under the awning outside a club. She was alone, out of place, terrified, and unsure of how to get home.
Fate was on Courtney’s side. The young French girl picked the perfect club to sit in front of. A man who looked like a devil stepped out onto the sidewalk and noticed her. He might have been scary to someone else, but Courtney looked up at him wide-eyed. His skin was red, but his wings were not very different than her own. Another mutant!
Khalil took pity on the young girl and invited her in to get away from the heat. She marveled at the club and the mutants casually sitting around while Khalil got into an argument with an older woman with grey eyes who scolded him for bringing a child into the club. While they argued, she was drawn to a man sitting front and center, watching a singer on stage. Something about him was commanding; she could feel it.
Poseidon spoke with the girl, getting her story. It was tragic, to be sure. He asked her about her schooling and her mutation. A bright young girl with frost breath could prove useful. Despite the grey-eyed woman glaring, he decided he would have her hosted by a member of his “organization” for the next year so she could continue her foreign exchange program. He assured her he would “take care of” the transfer, as well as her original host parents.
That first year in America was an amazing experience. Not only was she thriving in her classes, she was experiencing life among her own kind. She had a soft spot for her friends in France, but they never understood her like the Syndicate did. At the end of the school year, she wrote letters back home apologizing to her friends and bidding them farewell; she was going to remain in America.
Courtney finished out high school and went onto college at seventeen. During this time, she took on two roles with the Syndicate: secretary for the organization and personal assistant to Poseidon. There were rumors about the nature of her “assistance,” but no one was dumb enough to say anything behind Poseidon’s back.
She had a heavy workload, but she was the perfect person to balance school and work. She was even encouraged to explore and experience life and “fun,” and she took to the fun she found. She was having so much fun, she made a job of that too, just so she could more easily schedule it.
With college complete, Courtney was transferred to the Syndicate’s new base of operations in an entirely new world. Just like with her foreign exchange program, she was excited by the opportunity. She ended up on the other side of the rift when it closed, cutting her off from the people of her old life. It was a tragic loss, but Courtney was not the woman who would dwell and mourn. If there was nothing she could do to change it, she still had an organization she as loyal to, people she enjoyed interacting with, and a new Cervantes she would do right by.

Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Rebecca Grey-Morris Stephanie Graves Vanessa Berry Marisol Cervantes Sabine Sang Sample RP:Five Forty-Five AM. Well, Forty-Three. Courtney had an alarm set to wake her up if it came to it, but her own internal clock woke her up day in and day out, like… well, clockwork.
Sliding out of her silk sheets, Courtney walked into her washroom to start her morning routine and shower. She emerged from the steam ten minutes later; any longer under the stream of a warm shower and she would start slowing down. Her undergarments, white blouse, and charcoal grey pencil skirt were waiting for her when she dried off, set there the night before.
Five Fifty-Six and her coffee maker finished pouring her a cup thanks to the timer it was set on. She grabbed the ingredients to make herself a simple omelet while her bread was toasting. She would leave her apartment at Six Oh-Five, walk to the ferry just in time to catch the Six Twenty. From there, a nice twenty-five minutes to Manhattan and seven minutes to get her to The Sapphire. As she cooked, her tablet was beside the stove so she could scroll through her day.
It was a typical day, and she made note of each task and appointment until she made it to the end of her work day. No reason not to check on that as well.
The dragon’s lips curled into a grin. Dinner with acquaintances would be useful for unwinding, but she was more excited for her evening appointments. It was ambitious scheduling two, given how… intense Ms. Van Hart could be, but Ms. Nicholas asked her to make a window available and how could Courtney say no to a demand like that?
Quickly eating her breakfast, Courtney locked up the house and went about her daily routine. Six Fifty-Five.
Ms. Cervantes walked by with that confident, commanding walk she had. She smiled fondly at Courtney. The young blonde was not savvy to all the details between Poseidon and his sister, or how she wrangled control of this world’s Syndicate from him, but he was gone now. She respected the man, but she could not change what happened; she could only accept her new normal. “Hello, Miss Reliable.”
”Allo, Miss!”“Do I have an appointment this morning with that slimeball, Watts?”
”Not anymore, Miss,” Courtney assured her in her chipper, accented voice.
”You told me last month that you hated starting your morning with ‘that greedy slimeball.’ You said if he ever worked his way onto your schedule again before noon, I should cancel on him the night before.”Jayda blinked, surprised. “And you did?”
”Of course, Miss,” Courtney replied, slightly worried she took seriously something she should not have.
Thankfully, the boss lady smiled. “Good girl.”
Jayda walked into her own office, leaving Courtney with a fluttering sense of satisfaction in her stomach.
