The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Emma took a sip of Ranger's beer and really enjoyed the flavor. She order one for herself as well and paid the bartender for both of them. When zhe got hers, she squeezed her lime into her beer and shoved it down the neck just as Ranger did. She took a few sips and talked with Ranger. She was glad to hear that he was still happy to dance with her despite being knocked over by an absent-minded couple.
After a few moments of enjoying her beer, Emma decided to bring up a question to Ranger. "I'm glad you enjoy dancing so much. Do ya think your lady friend would mind if this wasn't the only time we danced?...I mean, if I could contact you to see if you could dance with me in the future...Not like a date or anything. Just dancing.", Emma sputtered out nervously, "She could come too, obviously. I don't want it to be weird or anything. I just like dancing with someone who knows what they're doing."
Emma blushed slightly from nervousness and being slightly embarrassed. Ranger was a nice looking guy and all, but she didn't wanna take him home with her. She respected his lady friend and didn't wanna cause any turmoil in his relationship. Maybe they could become friends and then it wouldn't be so awkward. Emma sat there quiet for a moment, not sure how Ranger would react to her blabbering.
She had drank most of her beer when the song changed. It seemed to perk up Ranger's attention because he stopped mid sentence, finished his beer, and asked to go dance again. Emma was pleased that she hadn't run him off with her request earlier. She smiled and took his hand as they began to make their way back to the dance floor. Maybe this time it wouldn't feel like they were at the bowling alley.

”She’d likely be fine. Might even be happy t’ get a break from me always wantin’ t’ take her out dancin’ all the time.” Which was most nights that he was free. Though he contained himself to a few times a month. ”We… Have a unique level of honesty. Breeds trust.”
Ranger led Emma out to the dance floor. He cut through the crowd like a hot knife through butter. His physical stature coupled with his attitude of confidence and determination had people moving out of his way. Once on the dance floor he slid into the dance on the next One.
Gliding into the dance, Ranger led Emma around the dance floor until the chorus came. He spun her and set her lose to really cut loose on the fast song. As the chorus wound down, Ranger pulled Emma back in and resumed. The pair flowed around the dance floor, expertly avoiding the drunk or uncoordinated dancers. All was going well, until the next chorus came around.
Again Ranger spun out Emma and let her spin, twirl, and show off. This time though he also spun himself. And a brilliant light erupted from him.
As Ranger spun ribbons of rainbow light erupted from him and wrapped him in a loose cocoon as he slowly lifted off the ground. At the same time his skin and clothing took the appearance of liquid light and began to shift. In a matter of moments his mass shifted as his form reshaped.
As the transformation slowed to a stop, the light erupted from Ranger in a cloud of rainbow, glittery, particles. Slowly Ranger floated back down to the ground. Everything felt… Off.
Large wings, in both width and wingspan, stretched out from from Ranger’s back and their every movement produced more rainbow particles. Most of Ranger’s clothing was gone, most of his mass was gone. Long blonde hair poured down past his shoulders. When Ranger brought his hands up to grasp the hair he saw they were smaller… And had long nails that sparkled.
”What?” Ranger said, but instead of his rough and accented voice, a soft and musical lilt of a voice. Immediately Ranger brought his hands to his throat. Everything was just wrong. Ranger extended both arms and looked from the hands down to the torso.
Somehow Ranger was a woman. Again.
S/he staggered a step back, heels clicking on the dance floor under foot. Ranger was neither taller nor shorter than normal, but instead of an almost two inch heel under his booted five foot ten inches self, there were six inches of stiletto heels that were attached to toeless gold filigree knee highs. Six foot four was a whole new world of height. The rest of the clothing on Ranger’s body was skimpy skin tone lingerie. Ranger was almost more clothed by the blonde mane than by cloth.
Ranger slowly turned looking at his new female self. Each movement was done with the grace and poise of a woman on the catwalk even so far that when Ranger stopped and looked around at the crowd of people staring in the silence, one hip was popped out and and the Ranger’s hands lay upon them.
Finally becoming aware of what surrounded him, Ranger looked at the crowd in the dance hall. The music had stopped and people were staring. At him or waving away the cloud of rainbow particles.

Emma was happy to hear that he and his partner had such a relationship that he could dance with her without raising any jealousy. He lead her to more dancing and she was enjoying herself. This time he spun himself as well and suddenly she noticed the room lit up. Emma stopped spinning and watched as Ranger was lifted into the air. He shifted into an angelic-like model complete with rainbow sparkles. As Emma witnessed this, she muttered to herself, "Fuck me. I knew it was too good to be true. I should've known I must have bestowed someone."
Emma slowly walked up to Ranger and walked around him/her, looking him/her over. When she came back to in front, she asked, "Are you okay? Why aren't you freaking out? Is it shock?"
Emma then noticed that people were staring and the music stopped. She wasn't sure what to do now. Should she tell Ranger it was her? If she did, he might get angry with her even though it was an accident. Emma resolved to wait and see how s/he took it before confessing to anything.
Ranger realized after a moment that Emma had been speaking to him. S/He turned his head to look at her. ”I…” Ranger tried to start but stopped himself. He couldn’t explain what happened and this wasn’t the first time this had happened to him. The wings were certainly novel though.
While Ranger was lost for words, the crowd had certainly found some. Murmuring had developed and some people had started calling out to Ranger. S/he turned to face those who called out. Some were irritated at the even having disrupted their nice night out, some were wanting answers to what happened, and some were trying to hit on Ranger. At least one woman was trying to unglue her boyfriend’s eyes from Ranger’s new form. A few started inching closer to Ranger.
Turning back to Emma he finally said, ”This isn’t the first time something like this has happened to me.” The strange feminine voice much more apparent as he spoke a full sentence. Unlike before when he had been Lori, everything about the voice had changed. The pitch, timbre, and even the accent had changed. S/He looked again to the encroaching crowd, the more people who started approaching the more bold others were to get closer. True mob behavior. ”I think I should leave… This looks like trouble.”
Ranger turned looking for a gap in the crowd. The quick movements shook loose more of the rainbow particles from the wings. Ranger took a step toward one gap and it filled. S/He turned another direction and made his way to another gap. Again it filled.
Never one to rely on his power to accomplish his goals Ranger was worried by the sheer number of individuals approaching. S/He had confidence in his ability to motivate one or two at a time to move, but a crowd like what s/he was facing was more than s/he felt confident having around him while s/he felt weaker than normal.
